plain amazement. can't put in words. so good.
now that i play takraw regularly, i'm even more fascinated i guess. it's just so hard to control that rigid beast of a ball. and then in the way they do.
(and by the way, it's most likely thailand and not china, jfootbagger)

I am actually quite surprised there are men playing.
In China, this sport is a girls sport, from what i've heard it is meant for woman, and this I believe is a reason why nobody in China plays footbag yet!
This information was givin to me by a (footbag) friend who has been teaching in China for the past 6 months.
Very cool video!!!!

I disagree. In Japan, the closest sport to footbag was something called "Kemari" (けまり) which is played pretty much exclusively by girls. Once Japanese people were exposed to the potential of footbag, via tournaments and the Pepsi campaign, men got into it very seriously. Footbag isn't big in China because there haven't been any tournaments or ad campaigns. If your theory were correct, footbag wouldn't be big in Japan, and that clearly is not the case.BalinorNZ wrote: In China, this sport is a girls sport, from what i've heard it is meant for woman, and this I believe is a reason why nobody in China plays footbag yet!

This deserved a separate post:

Their skill and presentation are equally amazing. Imagine if footbaggers spent as much time on presentation as technique, we might actually be entertaining!
With a few minutes of research, Chinlone is the national sport of Myanmar (Burma), which holds the annual Mandalay Waso Chinlon Festival, and is over 70 years old in its modern form.
Myanmar
General explanation of Chinlone.
Player's perspective of Chinlon Festival (see dodgy video at bottom).
Accurate google results.
In conclusion, thanks, Jon!
