Shot Filler for 32s

I'm planning to order some shot and I was straying from steel, because I believe lead is heavier...however, I am going to get either copper or nickel plated lead shot. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with either type of shot, in regards to rust or grey colored water. I would imagine you wouldn't get the grey water from washing if it was a plated shot, but since this is just a guess I thought it'd be a good idea to gather the general consensus.

Also, what number do you guys use (ie. #4, #5, #6, etc)? I want smaller than BBs, and to be honest..as close to Abshire filler as I can get. I love those tiny little shot pellets

From looking at the pellets/oz. on Ballistic Products' website [http://shop2.mailordercentral.com/bpicart/] I'm leaning towards the idea that they weigh about the same, but nickel is more expensive.

Any words of wisdom on filler, in general, would be a great help.

A friend of mine told me that BB's are exactly that. Copper plated lead... I didn't know that

My oppinion:
#7 shot is too small. It bleeds out unless you completely eliminate any trace of a bleed hole...

#4 is too big.

You're right about steel. It's too light.

The same friend that told me that thing about BB's is looking into this type of shot called Bizmuth. He says that it's exactly the same density as lead, but it's not toxic. He said something about it being filltered out of the trash-rock that comes out of mines...

I don't really know anything about this stuff, but once I get some I'll let everyone know how it works.

I was under the impression that the number got larger with the size of the pellet...but now I just don't know.

I was looking at bismuth...=ridiculously expensive.Check it.

The higher number means smaller size. With good bleed holes, size 7 and 8 is perfect for me.

Does washing a bag filled with lead produce any effects? I'm not concerned with lead poisoning-- more along the lines or rust-type damage to the bag.

I only believe this from word of mouth, though it makes sense, but many people have complained about "grey water" when the bag gets wet. I don't think this is a problem if the lead is plated, however.

I use lead shot(7 1/2), and for all the skeptics out there: It does NOT produce grey water. the only thing that gets slighty grey is the panels on the inside, if you were to disect your bag after about two months of play. As far as getting lead poisining, The only people who really, frquently get it are underground miners and such, so unless you eat the stuff, theres like a 1 in 6 trillion chance you would get it.

You don't want lead powder in your eye when the time comes.

Stick to Aquarium Sand. It's all natural cheap pebbles polished by the ocean and cleaned with fresh water so the fish can eat off it. It's rounded so it doesn't hurt the suede and doesn't break apart easily.

It's heavy and stalls perfectly.

i have some copper head premium bbbs and they are copper coated steel bbs. 4.5mm some might think these are big but they work perfectly in my bags.

i use size 7 lead shot. i only have enough for about two more bags, so im going to order some more none lead size 7 shot. i've had no problems with it leaking through my bleed holes

eh. i didnt have a single problem with my footbags. maybe you got a crappy brand of bbs? mine are great! and yes, the copper will fall off but not rust. what falls off is the copper, rusted copper is green. not orange. and the steel inside does not rust, i tried it in a bit of water for a few weeks. left it outside, etc...nothing.

see it that way: if you have 10 pound, then you wont ever have too worry about filler for... the next 2 years... if you keep up stiching that long, if not, sell it to another sticher. for a fair price, i´m sure they would highly apprichiate!

10 pounds=4536 grams
average footbag 45-50 g

Thats about 100 footbags, and considering some people use mixed fill, maybe even more.
