Anyone could help me figure what's going on with my PayPal?

Post by Sergey »

Hey guys, I am new to eBay and yesterday I decided to try it out and failed miserably.

Here is what I don't understand:

As far as I understand, most people on eBay use PayPal system and I decided to get an account too. I thought that my Visa card somehow relates to my eBay and PayPal accounts, but it turns out it doesn’t.

I went to my local bank today and got all the information(Bank Transit Number, Institution Number and Account Number) I need to add funds to my PayPal account. I entered the information and thought that from now on, I'll be able simply transfer money back and forth between PayPal and local bank, but it doesn't seem to me it's all that easy. After entering the info and pressing enter, it asked me to add a small amount of money to by bank account! I don't get how's that possible cuz I aint got not money on my PayPal account, do I?

So...yea, also, why I was asked to provide my Visa information while registering an eBay account if I will be using PayPal which doesn't require Visa?

I know a lot of people on modified have been using eBay for quite a while so I hope you guys can help me out to buy stuff cheaper on eBay.

paypal directly transfers money to and from ur checking account to other peoples checkings accounts. When u sign up for paypal, they have to verify that the account u gave them is really urs. In order to do this, they will send ur account a small amount of money: such as 3 cents. So you call up ur bank and ask if there has been a deposite from paypal and how much it was. Then u verify that amount with paypal and u can use it.

That's what i had to do to get my paypal, but that was a long time ago. I don't know if they use a dif system now or what.

funds also take 3 days (i think) to clear when transferring to a paypal account. I heard recently that paypal can only be used in certain countries.. hopefully that's not the case though.

I don't know whether you're living in Canada or Russia right now (Your information under your name is rather ambiguous), but I'm fairly certain that Paypal doesn't apply to Russia.

Who says I don't contribute anything to Modified? You owe me one by the way. You can start by telling Ken to give me back my PM's. Get on that if you can.
