Living in Distopia
You don't need to tell anyone Henry, there's a picture to prove it.
I almost cried too when I ate that ginger. It was SOO nasty.
My knee still hurts too much to play. I guess I'll be taking it easy for another week at least.
Will do a Chicago writeup tonight, if I can get on the computer for long enough.
Thanks for the comments everyone!

My knee is FINALLY in shredding shape again. It's still a little bit sore, but I know that if I keep it easy it won't get worse. I find that it only gets agitated when I do strong fairy and strong nuke. I'll just have to adapt and school my flip stuff a bit more (more nuke than fairy). Everything worked out for the best.
CSS is looking like a possibility.
School is back in on Monday, and I didn't skool as much as I would have hoped to. I can't wait to go back and get into a daily routine again. More time for me just means that I'll slack more. If I have less time I'll spend whatever free time I have more wisely.
I've made soo much stitching progression.

I thought I'd come into your blog and pick on you.

I hope it becomes a reality

Emily! I totally wasn't picking on you. I just thought it was really cool that footbag is a big enough part of your life that it is also a part of your non-footbag life. Its confusing, but its totally a good thing.
As for CSS... I'm not going. My knee is still slightly injured, and I'm not going to mess around with my health. I know that if I go to CSS and I'm not fully healed, I'll still play and probably destroy my knee for good. So I'm playing it smart and not putting myself in that position.
I'm still saving money though so I'm looking to go to another tournament in the near future. I really wish I could go to CSS.
Thanks for caring enough to pick on me.

Then you were not confused at all.Johnny wrote:Emily! I totally wasn't picking on you. I just thought it was really cool that footbag is a big enough part of your life that it is also a part of your non-footbag life.
Johnny! Notice the ":P" after what I said. ":P"= "Razz" = "I'm just razzin you" = "I'm just playing, Mr. Serious." Gosh!

I hate you.
edit:
edit2: Maybe I should add something of substance. I haven't played footbag in a few days now. I don't plan on playing for another week or so. Something as simple as a knee injury can take away sooo much from what I do.
BURN IN HELL KNEE INJURY.
On a positive note, I got a membership at the local YMCA. That means I'll have something to keep me busy while I heal. And when I do heal, I'll have somewhere better to play than my dimly-lit, depressing, shitty-assed basement.
Everyone is getting so good at footbag.

You can start progressing again Jeremy, I am healed!
I didn't wait until Thursday like planned. I had a little session with NO pain, the first of its kind since Chicago Day 1. It'll take awhile to knock of the rust, but I'll get back with it.
YMCA shred tomorrow morning. I'll keep it easy.

My knee is still feeling great, although I haven't played much on it yet. I plan on having another session at the YMCA tonight after I get back home from work. I wish circumstances were better and I could make it to Toronto to shred with so many people I haven't seen in quite a while.
[sigh]
On my way here (I'm on lunch, and sometimes I come to the library to browse modified), I saw a sign that said "Over 200 reasons to visit downtown Brantford!". I kind of chuckled to myself because the only one I could think of is that its better than having your face chewed off by a rabid homeless person (although this may happen while you visit). Seriously though, sometimes I hate being in this town, there is nothing to do.
I must admit it is getting a bit better. I like the new, younger, saner crowd that the new university branch is bringing in.

I challenge you to hit 10 unique 5s. I dont know if you've tried yet, but it seems like it would be fairly easy for you.
here's one to try:
matador>sumo>atomic whirl>matador>sumo>atomic whirl>blurry whirl>blurry whirl>spinning whirl>ps whirl>spinning whirl>ps whirl
you might want to add a blurry drifter to the front of that combo, and/or some janiwalkers in there, maybe some pdx torques or mobii as well. I want to see you destroy the whole concept of fearless with like 25 straight contacts cause you are so awesome!

I still haven't tried your fearless Jeremy, but I'll get around to it. I'm still kindof taking things easy.
I had a session at the YMCA tonight from 6:15-7:45. This is the best session I've had since Chicago, so things are looking up. Not even once did my knee hurt for a second, YESS!!
My warmup consisted of 300 kicks > 200 toe stalls and easy tiltless > 100 tiltless > 50 guiltless (no drops).
My string length has definitely improved, although my intensity has gone down dramatically. All in good time.
There was a 10 year old kid (I can't remember his name now) that was watching me play. I let him kick around one of the bags that I stitched and he was pretty excited to play. He was so positive! Its hard to imagine that I started kicking when I was his age. Seeing the way he was reacting to the simplest things helped me remember what it was like for me to play way back then. I suppose that is partially what made this session fun.
The kid said that he is there every Sunday usually, so I think I'll surprise him with a sandbag next weekend. It's good to see that my impression on him was a good one, and that he might possibly pick something up that I had so much fun with at his age.
Not much to report shred-wise except 1 new fearless link, and some REALLLLY long runs.
Yay footbag!
