hmm.. of course these are my opinions-likely to be just as flawed as anyone else's. um, really I guess you should assume everyone's speaking out of some external influence. Belive in whatever makes sense to you.:JTHM

I agree, Tool rocks!
But...
You can't shread to their stuff, the beats are all wrong.
However, I find certain songs have different results in my shreading.
eg. For consec. Mirages - Listen to "Freak" by Silverchair.
Other than that, I haven't realy found any great shreading songs/tunes. But, then again, I haven't realy been looking.

That Linkin Park remix album is great to shred to... most electronic music is, however. Oakenfold is great too.

System, Great. Prodigy (should have been on my list(fat of the land and Music for the jilted generation are SUPERB)) and even a little korn. but i like the hour+ songs of Teisto, Astral Projection, Aaron Simpson, Dj Baby Anne, and so on. i guess im not a huge fan of music with words. i like the repetivie techno aspect of it. But good techno, not the crappy redundant house beat thats just annoying.
Superprofundo on the early eve of your day!

I listen to BigDirtyFoot (my techno music), Lost Doggs (my old ska band that I was in.. trombone), and Falls Five (My old dixieland band)... whenever my band Quite Exploded finishes recording our CD (that's what my avatar is, btw... i'll explain that too here) I'll shred to that. See my girlfriend drew 4 icons for us... 4 different logos. Mine is fire... there's water, air, and earth.. there's 4 members of the band and we each have a logo of our own... there ya go. It's the "elements" set, basically.

when i made my routine for Australian footbag championships i just threw in the theme song for Rocky (before it was eye of the tiger) because i had totally forgotten to add music but yeh it was a new experience competing.

theres no doubt in my mind that music helps my game.
sure, it aint skills pressed on vinyl, but it sure as hell gets me in the zone. if i hit something (in my opinion) FAT and theres FAT music playing it makes me want to just keep shredding, makes my movement way cleaner too when im zoned in..
but i might know a few people who achieve that certain "time slows down" bonus by other means
