Great news, I got the Avid editing software downloaded. As I thought, the problem was me, not the cpu. :)
Too bad I spent all my energy to downloading it, so I'm too laz...tired to try to figure out if I can capture the footage just with the USB-cable. So I'm taking small, steady steps towards the 'real editing'. ;)

And not that great news; it's freezing here! Today it was 15-20 below zero and a cold wind from the south-east, tomorrow it should be even colder. *If our climate is changing warmer, please don't stop it here!*
What makes me really sad is that we should play hockey/ringette with the girls at the sports class tomorrow. :(
...Oh wait, not us.
Just the girls. :twisted:

We'll be playing badminton (or footbag). :P
mwahaahahahahhahahahaaaa....

D'OH!
I'm at school now. I should be shredding, which I'm not - I'm sitting at this computer. :?
The problem is that the both, the hall and the stage are being used at the moment and I can't shred anywhere.
Not even in The Navetta cause it's too freaking cold! :x

I'm going to push my luck and see if I can fit in to the stage...

Funny stuff, mr. Lötscher. ;) Though you may live near the Alps, you haven't experienced The Winter before you experience it in Finland. Or maybe in Russia, where it was even colder. 8O

Oh, I think I've got a reverse footbag depression: "I'd like to but I can't".

ha! You might be right.

But at least there's a lot of wood in Finland. So go and grab a hatchet and start wood-chopping! It's a good thing for the muscles.

Or just start shredding in your living-room!

Okay, it should be a lot warmer tomorrow. *I'll have my shoes on again...*
Yesterday I had a nice barefoot session, mostly practised Atomic and Fairy sets.
I hit my first Atomic trick (except the atomic toe and tap), Eggbeater both sides! :) I'll have another barefoot sesh today and go for the hunt for Atom Smashers. Fairy Legover, Fairy ss Butterfly (lol, it's called Parkavenue) and Tapdown would be nice too, though I can't probably seal because my barefoot-clippers suck.

I'll edit now a bit.

Thanks to Anz for hosting this.
LauriJii's First BlogVideo:

I don't like the part where the shred starts either. :)
It doesn't match with the music. And next time I won't use the small screen, it looks horrible when you click it to full-screen.

It's a 4-4-4-4 in the part where the film doesn't run smooth.
The first clip where I'm at the stage: some of the tricks don't look clean because my legs were pretty tired.

An OK session for me yesterday.
First I noticed that the stage at school was occupied (again!). I decided to go home and shred there, but missed my bus. :?
Then I just waisted an hour of my time at school and waited for the next bus.
Finally at home I shredded for over an hour in The Navetta.
- I hit 5 tripless but I'm not sure what they were...possibly blur>dimwalk>rpt>ripwalk>drop.
- I hit Eggbeater and Legbeater both sides for the first time in shoes (first time I ever hit Legbeater, though I had had close attempt before)
- something else, can't remember.

I've decided to learn some stuff before I start to film again. I've spent one miniDV-cassette (60 minutes) so far, and the results can be seen in my vid. As you can see the price-quality ratio is pretty bad. :)

Just a matter of time! Can't wait for more :)

I've been taking a programming course at school. We're using Java, and now we've been making our own excercise programs based on what we've learned so far. I'm making a program that counts the score in shred30. It's not ready yet, but this is the code of the "latest version".

Code: Select all

public class Shred3 { /* Program for counting the score

                          in shred30 */

 private static double Formula(int contacts, int uniques, int adds) {

   double score = adds + (uniques * (adds / contacts));

   return score;

  }

  public static void main(String[] args){ // MAIN PROGRAM

    System.out.println("\n**** Shred30 score ****\n");

    int contacts1, uniques1, adds1;
    double a;

    System.out.println("Give the number of contacts, unique tricks\n"+
                        "and adds:\n");

    contacts1 = Lue.kluku();
    uniques1 = Lue.kluku();
    adds1 = Lue.kluku();

      a = Formula(contacts1, uniques1, adds1);

      System.out.println("Score is "+a+".");

  }

}

I'm at school now, I'll edit/reply when I'm back home.

EDIT: If you want to use the program, you need to download Java. I think everyone's got command line / DOS in their computer (that's what you need to use the program at this point).
1. Get Java.
2. Open the Java notepad, copy&paste this code there and save it as 'Shred3.java' .
3. Open the command line and the bin and type 'javac Shred3.java' . (This checks the code, if there are errors it shows where they are; if there aren't any, you're good. ;) )
4. If the code is ok, type 'java Shred3' .
5. It should print
****Shred30 score****

Give the number of contacts, unique tricks and adds:
x [give the number of contacts and press enter]
y [the number of unique tricks]
z [adds, then press enter]

Score is xxx.x.

---

The next step with this program would be something where you could just give the run and it would count the score. First it may not recognize separate trick names (like Ripwalk); instead it'd ask the adds of each trick and if the trick is unique or not. Then there would be an ending signal that tells the program that the run is over.*
Finally, the program could recognize the add-count, unique-ness and the number of contacts just when you type the run there. So it could recognize the technical names.**

*So a run like "Clipper > Ripwalk > Pdx mirage > Butterfly > Ripwalk > Pdx mirage" should be typed like this "2 > unique4 > unique3 > unique3 > 4 > 3".

** Here the user wouldn't have to do anything but just type the run, like "clipper > ripwalk > pdx mirage > butterfly > ripwalk > pdx mirage" and the program would count all the adds, unique tricks and contacts and give the score.
This would be the ideal version, I'm not sure how far I can make this. :) Defining all the tricks will be a huge job, plus everything has to be defined both sides. ;)

Watched "Anz' Trikz" yesterday and went to try Drifters after that. They felt instantly better although I couldn't figure out what did I do wrong in the first place. :P

I think you should do so there was a box there did drop down where you could click a trick or drop or handcatch, that would not give you the problems about spelling!

That would be great but so far we've just learnt to make relatively easy counting programs. Maybe then later when I, maybe, can do something like that. ;)

OK, I'm pretty desperate here. :) Only Byrin has commented my video, the others do that too, please. :P

I've made the decision: less modified. I'm doing this because I heard that some player called Jorden or something did the same and he's like busting guiltless(!).

I won't quit, I'll still probably check some of the categories regularly, but not that often. 
And I won’t post in my blog if I really haven’t got anything to say.

I’ve had two (?) sessions, both in ‘quite cold’ The Navetta. Yesterday and today, the sessions were pretty much the same – I’ve been training mostly Drifters, Torques and Whirls. Yes, Whirls too because after I watched Anssi’s trick video I realized that I’ve been starting dexing when the bag peaks, and that’s late. In a few sessions I’ll ‘master’ it completely, they are already OK.
Watching Anssi’s Drifter-video made me want to skool them hard. Today almost beesauced it. My Torques are probably better than ever but still not very good. :P
I’ve also trained my guiltless string length, I guess I should do more easier tricks. I just get too greedy and try to hit unique strings etc. I’ll fix that too.

I’ll post again when I’ve hit Drifter BSOS or Torque > run both sides.
Cheers,

Böö

How about Torque > Drifter > rpt? :P 8O

Yo film more. I want to see you hitting 4-4-4 without any sets.
oh, and you need to skool those double dexes more. Try Barfly!

Home alone.
Like I promised, I didn't write until now: I hit Drifter bsos today. :D
It's like -20*C out there - and 8*C inside the house! 8O I'm not kidding, my fingers are quite cold when I'm writing this. I really have to make a bonfire to the livingroom or something.
I'm going to shred everyday this weekend, indoors at home.
Nothing beats it that I can play shred music as loud as I want from two one-meter high loudspeakers. The floor could have better grip though.

About the Torque>Drifter>rpt: maybe not today. :) Needs some time.
But I definitely am going to skool double dexes tomorrow. Setless 4-4-4 may still take some time though...:?

I won't make any goals, i.e. tricks that must be hit before the next blog entry. Just because I can't come up with anything realistic. :P
Maybe DOD bsos, and the Torque>run BS still counts.
