food and footbag
Meal before/while/after footbag session.

Sorry if some topic like this Already exist.

I always equate footbag with running. It's almost a close comparison
Anyway, a distance runner's diet consists of about 70% carbs. So after a session I eat up some pasta for dinner or a granola bar as a snack. Things like that would probably be best.
Obviously eating a normally healthy diet is important but this is just a suggestion that grains are slightly better than meats to include, but don't exclude either of them. (I think I may have just wrote nothing for two paragraphs. I hope this helps.)

While playing, its very important to stay hydrated. Be sure to drink enough water when you play. Sports drinks with electrolytes, such as gatorade, can also be good. I've heard that a mix of the two is actually the best.
I don't recommend eating before or during play. I make a point to wait at least an hour after eating before playing. After playing, I find bananas to be really good, because they prevent cramps. The day before a session, it can be a good idea to "carbo-load." Eat lots of pasta or grains the day before, and you will have energy to play the next day.
I also don't recommend drinking too much alcohol the day before a big session. You end up sweating it out the next day, and everything is harder.

I second the don't eat before shredding. At our local session on Saturday I ate a $*&#load of mexican food for lunch and immediately jumped into the circle. Within 10 minutes huge cramps hit and I had to sit it out for another 10 minutes, STUPID!
Also, since we're speaking about diets here, shameless plug for vegetarianism here. Meat is bad for you, the planet and of course the animals it's made out of. Learn more:

I have acuatly been making an effort to eat healthier too, almost the same thing as you, eating more bananas, bananas, eggs.... and no soda.fetusmaster wrote:i have recently started to eat a lot healthier, most of my diet now consits of some sort of protein and fruit with every meal. i also dont drink pop or anything carbonated or with caffeine in it. i think a healthy diet is key to help you have more energy.
I definatly think what you eat depends on what kind of energy you have.
Kinda funny that you mentioned that. A star cross country and track runner was saying this morning that she had mexican food the other day before she ran and she couldn't even run 20 minutes. She said she "passe out" on her floor when she got home (probably not literally passed out).Iron Clad Ben wrote:I second the don't eat before shredding. Before a session, I drink up to 5 bottles of water before at school, within a 7 hour period. Seems to help alot.

I eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich before I shred during lunch, I think it slows me down a bit.
How far ahead should one consume carbs? Like pasta?

Everyone is different... I'd say no alcohol and low sugar, high carbs, some fruit or protein also. Usually hunger is the reason I stop playing... so I try and eat right before a session and sometimes have energy bars while I'm playing. WATER is crucial.

I'd assume it's the same for any type of workout. Good mix of protein and carbs. Before i go rock climbing i sometimes stop in salad works and get a chicken ceaser what wrap. Had the chicken, egg whites and the wheat wrap, along with greens. I also bring a banana with me for an energy boost if i need it. Another thing i like to eat for protein is edamame, steamed, very lightly salted soy beans. I don't even like beans and those things are delicious.

I don't know if you were serious about that, but that's like saying you won't need medical treatment when you're sick because you will live or die regardless because your higher power has already decided it. That's a pretty ridiculous thing to say.logan wrote:i eat pretty much whatever i want and dont really pay attention to what I am "supposed" to eat or what is "healthy." If the good Lord wants me to become fat then i will become fat. plus shred comes from the soul anyway, no soda or double whopper with cheese is gonna stop that.
