Your finest hour

Post by NotHisRealName »

To date, what is YOUR finest hour.
What is the one thing that... when ever you need to, you can look back upon and say, "Damn, I did good there." The point to which you've not surpassed to this moment.
What one achevement will you remember on the day you die?

It might be a piece of music you've constructed. Maybe a film? Or perhaps it was something you've done for your fellow man.

Post now! It's not bragging! It's sharing.
Tell us!
Make us proud of you.

What have YOU done that YOU'RE most proud of?

Well I suppose I'll start off since I'm bored at work:

Worlds '02 I BARELY made it into the finals in intermediate routines (9 drops). Peter Brocka (CZ) had an amazing routine that included a lapstall>back handspring where he ended with the bag under his chin. Anyway he was a sure favorite and I was not even a longshot. Come finals I straight nailed my routine with 3 drops and won. It was just one of those times that you're truely in the "zone." I didn't even know there was a crowd until I finished the routine and the feeling of everything going right while on stage when it counts is just overwhelming.

Alright...who's next?

hmm.

I think my finest moment was the Tasmanian U 18 State Champs. The finals was a 3 match tournament down in Hobart so we had to get up at about 5 am to drive down to play our first game at 10 am (an hour to get ready to go and an hour to warm up before the first game). In our team we had 7 state players I think including a guy who recently got into the Australian mixed squad (first Tasmanian to get into an open aussie squad). However that player and some of our other state players were not playing - leaving us with a team with only 3 state players and many inexperienced players. The team we were playing had 5 state players I think and good depth to their side. We lost the first game 7 - 3 - of which I scored 2 tries and grazed both knees, both hips and both elbows. It was a very hot day and the ground was very hard. In the second game we won 3-2 of which I scored 2 tries. Because of the result in the first game - we went into the last game needing to win (a draw would mean they'd win overall on score difference). They scored the first try of the game and then we replied and the game went try for try with them winning for I guess 39 minutes (tough football games are 2 twenty minute halves). At 3 all, just as the siren went (play continues after the siren until the first stopage (ie. touch)) I scored a try to give us the win 4-3 and also my third for the game - meaning I scored 7 out of 10 tries for our team over the tournament and we won!!. I still have a scar on my right forarm from continually diving on it over the three games (this was in 2000). Needless to say I won the player of the tournament award and was also "talent scouted" - meaning I was put on a list of up and coming players or something. It was the first time in my touch football career where I was forced to take a leadership role rather than letting other people make the decisions and I still feel like it's my best individuel effort in any sport.

Actually I played a representative game of cricket where I batted last (normally I was opening or near the top) and we needed 50 runs of 33 balls and I scored 35 runs from 26 balls and won the game for the team. That was a fine moment too - especially since we were playing against a team with a lot of guys I went to primary school with before I moved - so it was nice to play well against a team like that.

One night i was soooo pissed it was just ridiculous, and despite this when i took a leak in my mates bathroom, it was nothing but bowl. Furthermore his bathroom is really small and the toilet bowl takes up half of it, so the basin you wash your hands almost overlaps it, and when i was washing my hands, i dropped the soap, but despite my intoxication, i managed to deflect the soap with my hand so it didnt go into the toilet! I only remember it because the whole time the door was wide open and all my mates were cheering.

I finally beat Off-World Interceptor Extreme for the Sega Saturn last night. I've been trying to beat that game for almost nine years

I beat my Super Mario Brothers 2 speed trial at a house party. I seem to recall the time being 13 minutes and 42 seconds.

People went off :P Kinda silly, but that's one that sticks out in my mind.
