MANALAPAN JAM

Post by Troyson »

Hey everyone, i recently sent an email to my local YMCA asking them if we would be able to have a jam session there, and they responded saying it wouldnt be a problem at all. So, I am organizing a jam session for whoever wants to come...the more people the merrier :D
this is the response the guy sent me....
Troy,
I am the Program Director from the YMCA of Western Monmouth County, who is in charge of the gym. Believe it or not, I have actually heard of Footbag. I used to work with a guy who was really into it. I would be interested in meeting with you to discuss hosting this jam session. But before we can go any further, I need a few particulars:
1) When are you planning on having it?
2) How many people are we talking about?
3) How big of a space do you need?
4) Aside from a 'good amount of flat, open space,' is the anything else you would need, i.e., intercom system, stereo, etc.?

Hopefully we can accommodate you. Look forward to hearing from you soon.
so...i need to know what date i should make it, and about how many people will be attending. Right now im thinking either the end of february or the beginning of march if possible. Whoever wants to come please respond as soon as you can.

If there's someone coming from this area that needs a seat filled, I'm there.

Troy,

you don't need us to tell you the details. It's the other way around. nothing's ever going to happen unless you take control and plan it yourself. Just make sure there's no events going on at the same weekend that you want to use, and start planning. Tell them you'll expect 25 people, and you'll update them if you'll have more. Tell them you'd like a stereo and a PA system for talking to everyone. Once you firm things up with the date, then you can look for confirmation. it does no good now to say, "sure, I'll be there!" if there's a date conflict on a date that hasn't been picked yet. So, you tell us.

Good luck. If it's convenient for me, I'll definitely make it down. I can't guarantee because of academics, though. Hope to see you soon.

Matt

Hey Troy,

I'm in. Probably.

I'm probably going out of town on the weekend of Feb. 11-12. And I'm probably gonna be out of town for a week between mid and late March. So, yeah, Late Febuary (2-18/19 or 2-25/26)or Early March (3-4/5) sound good.

I'd say that between three and five people from Somerville would be interested and available (thats just an estimate, I haven't talked to anyone else about this yet, but then again, until there is a date set, there's not much to talk about). Thats me and two to four others from The Ministry of Silly Walks.

The sooner we know the date, the more of us are likely to plan on coming.

Yeah, like Matt said, if you build it, they will come. This is a 1 day event I'm taking it?

I may be able to come, somewhat of a longshot though, but I'm interested.

I will probably be there, but I cannot make the weekend of the 25th (CSS). I have no clue where Manaplan is though, but NJ isn't that big.

SlickProtege and myself might be able to make it out form RI depending on the date. So hurry up with that.

i sent the guy another email with an answer to all those questions, but he is yet to respond...i am going to send him a followup email right now. It will most likely be late march just so that i have time to set everything up, but if there is any better dates and i can move it up, then i will be sure to do so.

I just got the response back from the guy, and he suggested March 26th from 9-12 pm....seems like a good date, but do you think that is too late to have the Jam? I think i may wanna have it earlier and then my friend might have some type of party...What do you guys think?

im going to change the time, because for one its too late, and right now the time he gave us is too short. I am setting up a meeting with the guy very soon to discuss all the specifics of the jam.

I'd LOVE to go! I'll try and make it... 9-12 is pretty fantastic. I hate 6 hour james because I cant play that long and just end up farting around waiting for the party.

3 hours is good. Shred, finish, relax and watch others for an hour, then hit the brew.

Im in.

Im glad too see all of the interest in this...but i want to make it somewhat earlier if possible. I kinda want my friend to have a party after it, and if it is that late at night, then i will probably have already blazed, and i dont really wanna be baked while im shredding. That is why i want to make it earlier, so i can get drunk and shit after...tell me what you think.

Yeah, I like earlier. I'll settle for whatever times you get, but we're talking about a Sunday night, right? Some of us have got work or school the next day, and I live about an hour away from you already, plus I'd have to spend time shuttling my passengers around, dropping people off at home, etc.

Is there any other possible venues? They may have better times/dates.

i can make the date whenever i want basically...the guy only suggested making it march 26th and it sounded like a good idea. I want the best possible day so that as many people as possible can come.

I like the idea of having it on a sunday, but its hard trying to figure out a date for it. Some of my friends also want it to be a lil later so that they can learn how to do more tricks so that they dont suck. Suggest some dates if you done like that one, and i will ask the suggest them to the guy.
