Rochester, New York Footblog
I wanna go to TO! Just gotta figure out how to make the Fredonia connection. Maybe if someone else in Rochester wanted to go, we could all link up in Buffalo and take one car up or something.
Today's session was alright. I wasn't feeling it... just dropping on simple stuff but it was no big deal. I need to work on form and control a whole lot more. Aric and Paul both looked strong. Paul had about 5 or 6 ducking tricks in a row and his style looks a lot smoother and more confident. Aric hit rubberman into a string, and there was another crazy combo sticks out in my head but I cant remember it.

hehe, thanks Kamil... I'm glad you think I was more handsome at Euros, because when spring comes around here, and all the girls are horny, I'm going to shave my hair and my beard again, and with some luck, some of them will want to have sex with me
and thanks for the props. I hope I can do it again and again and again and...
the weather here is INCREDIBLE!! I'm going to finish my breakfast, take a shower while I digest, stretch, and shred!!! I have good shred energy in me now. I hardly ate at all yesterday.
I got too hung up hanging out in the evening and never made it back over. Wish me luck for today. Maybe I'll take some pictures of my shred spots.

Well, that was fun! I played for 90 minutes outside in this beautiful weather. I used my PengPeng footbag, Paintball, for about half the time, then switched to my Felix footbag for the last 45 minutes. I started out with lots of kicks, then did some spins and light shuffle. My spins weren't feeling too great to start off, so I veered away from them for a while and worked on getting some of my bigger tricks midstring. As I said the other day, I get stuck in a certain shuffle mode, and leave out lots of tricks, so I'm going to work on big tricks both sides more. I did the following BSOS and sealed:
Smog (just hit flip for the first time today)
Pixie Paradon
Pixie Barrage
Ripped Warrior
Ripstein
Superfly (BSOS first try with ease, that was a nice surprise!)
Jani Walker (with really easy feeling flip)
My barraging sets are getting better and better. I'm working on doing them as slow and smooth as possible so I don't just go BLIZZOW and flip out and do it. I prefer it smooth and controlled, even if the set only just comes up past the knee. I feel like the other way is going to make me hurt myself. Maybe I can get flip flurry soon.
I ended my session with tapping ass stall both sides. Tap that ass!
I only tried swirling set at the beginning of the session, and only a couple times, then forgot about it. I'm liking these more focused sessions, though. When I play with others, I just want to shred and show off the whole time...
Maybe I'll go for swirling twirl again both sides tomorrow. Haven't done that in a long time.
I'm going to ice my knees now.

At first I wasn't going to play today because I stayed up all night, but then after classes I decided the weather was too nice to squander. I'm so glad I kicked since it was a completely awesome session.
Greg and I decided to play out in front of his dorm, and we started by hacking for awhile in a circle of four, which fluctuated from 4-8 players over the next three hours. It was great because everyone knew about footbag (since we play in the lounge in his building all the time) and they were all down with us freestyling in the circle. We just hung out all afternoon, hacking and skateboarding and whatnot, watching the shred and asking questions. Definitely a cool posse of loiterers, some were even asking if they could come learn tricks at our regular sessions. It was the perfect pace to play the whole afternoon, in between passing the bag around, so that I was shredding strong almost the whole time without getting too tired.
My game was top notch today too. Really long varied guiltless strings, often 20-30 contacts or more... especially when good music was playing. Everything felt dead on, and Greg's footfighter is such a great bag. It did whatever I wanted it to. I didn't hit a whole lot of new stuff, except for Atomic Kneebumping Torque twice in a row. My main focus was on doing strings of all of the most crowd-pleasing showoff-ey stuff: torques, paradox whirls, crazy shuffle, consecutive ducks, different kinds of swirls, drifter into spin/gyro and similar links, mobiiii, and pendulum passes. Plus I was given a bunch of useful skating tips and we worked on that for awhile. I really hope these kinds of days happen more often when it's springtime.
Would everyone who came to the G-Jam last year want to stay at my house on a weekend during spring break? I will probably have a couple empty rooms for people to crash in, while my housemates are gone on vacation. That's the weekend of March 17-18-19, and given the circumstances and lack of bigger events going on at that time, it would be the best possible time to do this. What say you?

We should have some space indoors to play in if we need backup. I'll look into that. But the main gym will probably be fixed up by then, and it should be open that weekend if i let the UP know ahead of time that we want to use it.
every day should be like today. screw the 40 hour work week. i never wanna enter into that.

I like to think that my strong flurry is good, and recently my flip flurry has become more consistent. These days I can get flurry bsos within 3 or 4 tries tops. That said, I don't think of either flurry as involving a furious set. Rather, they are a lot like dlos. Keep that in mind.
Hey, here's a challenge: ripstein-janiwalker.
Just watched the new Jorden video... Damn, he's good... surging voodoo, wtf mate...
I just want to say how awesome it is to see all these posts in here by people besides me. Sometimes I get frustrated and i feel like I'm the only one who writes in here or reads it, so, thanks to everyone who's left some positivity, and to my posse for keeping me updated on your stuff. It's great to see who's doing what...
Can't wait to play tomorrow... I want to get more 3 dexes and drifters with sets in my games. I'm going to work on pixie and pixie ss
drifters
dlos
eggs
double downs
symp mirages
flail
whirl
edit: oh yeah, and torques
and then once I've got pixie sets into those both sides, I'm going to try and do it with steppings, fairys, atomic, quantum, spinning... probbbbbably not ducking
but I'll try some of them with ducks.
This is my plan to level up my game. I just wish my endurance was better... I'm sure my healthier lifestyle and the amount I've been soloing will help that real soon. I can't wait to have some more people into it.
I went to the campus activities board meeting tonight. I think I'm going to be able to get some money out of them for footbag. Sweet!
Fred Shred rules... I can't wait to be way good at footbag. I want symp whirling swirl on my flip soon. and flip flurry... I will be good!!!
Thanks Tom Mosher for being a living example of the goodness of positivity and high energy. You changed my life, buddy

quick update...
2 sessions since my last post. I'm liking this playing a lot more thing. I've begun icing both knees before and after sessions, it's REALLY helping.
hmmm... I hit flip smog second try the other day, that was gratifying. as well as some good long shred representations for passers-by, and whirling swirl BSOS with not too many tries... clean ripsteins are getting easier. So is gyro mirage, although it's still not solid
... work to do...
I'm pretty sure I'm going to be able to get some money from the school for my footbag club, and I've met a good 3-4 people interested in freestyling. It's gonna be sweet.
That's all for now. hello out there to footbagland!

Sick man. Thats cool that your starting up another club. it seems everywhere you go, footbagers come out of the woodwork.
gyro mirage is such a fun trick once you really get it solid. Its helped my string length alot, and is really styley to hit atomic anything out of. keep it up man. hopefully we can shred soon.

I'm in Toronto. For those of you that didn't know, Tom and I came with Adam Greenwood to put a demonstration on at th canadian breakdancing championships. It went better than we could have hoped.
Video will come soon. The crowd loved us all, we blew them away. I can't wait.
After the event, we shredded with billy hladik, camille surovy, pengpeng du, andrew weglarz, and some jorden kid. I played well for a little while, but lost all my adrenaline steam pretty soon. Skippy's doing a lot better, jorden hit all kinds of weird shit from and to monster, and good links. Fairy vortex was cool.
goodnight. more tomorrow after THE BIG SESSION!!!

Super notable weekend... I think it's going to end up marking some big changes in how I perceive my life... We did an awesome job at the demo, and hanging out with TomAndPeng was good times. I saw Tom's house and re-met his parents and smoked out of a gas can in his garage and played guitar for everyone. I really like Tom's parents and dog. The poor dog's nose is all messed up and I can tell it hurts him because he was shy about it. That dog also has some real gas issues. SMELLY! also, Peng taught me to stitch a footbag!!! I'm mostly done with my first 32 panel footbag! I'd be done except for the blind stitch by now, but too few panels were cut out, and now I have to wait for Peng to send me 4 more hexes... I can't wait to finish.
Their stitching tutorial is going to be a great benefit to the community. Can't wait to finish this bag! it's so much fun!

Matt Cross Body, you rock.
Your music + Jorden's shred= a pleasantly entertained Camilleon.
Your shred is damn good too! You've improved since last time... I loved watching you play.
I had an awesome time being a stoner shredder with you and driving complete circles around town. We might have felt pretty dumb and Tom might have picked on us a bit, but it was a truly nice drive!
Thanks for coming to Toronto. Hope to see ya again sooner than later!
