2Min routine online competition

Post by james_dean »

Nick and I were chatting the other night and wondering...

How many of you would actually enter an online 2 minute routine competition?

This would probably run bi-annually or similar, definately not every month ;) Hosting and judging would be arranged, as per other online competitions.

I would enter (i suck ) but yeah competeing is fun
Your next task: Go to the bathroom.
Wash your face.
Put your shoulders hunched upwards.
Look really, really slowly upwards towards the mirror like in the movies
And slap yourself in the face.
With your game face on.
And go shred with jim.
It'll work, trust me.

Certainly it would be cool, but very hard to arrange. Even the sick3/1 comps I find myself rushing to film in the last few days cause I'm slack, so I couldn't even guarantee that I would get an entry in  cool idea but there would need to be a lot of responses to warrant it, estimating that most wouldn't actually get around to entering.

I think what's great about the idea is that it gets people in the mode of competing, and practicing a routine. I think 2 min is a bit long for novice players. But just having a comp like this is great because it trains people to be able to compete in routines at tournaments.

I agree the motivation on this may be tough. I think you should start small like 1 min, that may attract more people.

Shred 30 online comp would be NASTY too. That would just rcok to submit a shred30 and have actual scores to compare.

I agree that an online shred30 ranking would be really sick.

Everyone submits their shred30 whenever they want, the organiser views it and checks their score is what they say it is, then he inserts it into the ranking with a link (we can have a footbag.org gallery to host these) to the shred30 so anyone can check it any time - bang instant online shred30.

If i ever have some time I will definatly organise this!

What the... why did I think of 2min and not this? That's so much better (i.e. the chance of people actually filming a routine is almost in the negative) sweet idea :D

Nic, I'll do it.

Wow Nic's right. Just have a standing of online shred30 scores to stand for all of time! You could submit a new one as you improve to replace your old one and move up the Online Shred30 rankinngs!

I'm actually really stoked for this! :D

I'm not.

The whole essence of shred 30 is shred, not taking 20 tries in front of a camera. People could hit like 280's if they tried enough times.

Hey man, you ever do anything just for fun? Lol. That's what this is gonna be. It's not official IFPA or anything, and obviously the scores will be inflated, but hey man don't knock it just cuz it's not official. AND it gets new players in the habit of practicing their shred 30. I'm actually kind of shocked that anyone could knock this idea.

The thing I feel that will make this really successful as far as online comps go, will be to keep the scores and vids up for all time. We can even have a sticky page with the All-Time Rankings for this event. Having the video proof of these shred 30s, Players names, and posted scores will establish a cool nostalgic element that all players can look back on in years to come. (Much like Lonn's Record List-Alternating head stalls 45-try and beat it!)

Everyone knows these aren't official. But hey man, people say 'Oh well, I've hit a much higher shred 30 back home.' Here's your chance to prove it.
