Just thought of a new 4 square rule

-Spike on high score. You are allowed to spike on players with a higher score than you. If the spike lands on someone with an equal or lower score you are out.

2 cool variations:

can spike on king
can spike on the person with the highest score

= long game

You're right very long, hard game. I just tried my original version and it took me longer than usual to win

more variations
-even # squares can spike on odd or the other way around
-can only spike in an adjacent square
-can only spike into diagonal squares
-can spike above the waist

so can a spike be anything above the knee?

I think it should have to be higher than all the player's waists.

Jeez, we've had so many emergency patients the past few days.

Kinda random:
Playing on a basketball court some thug-looking dude was trash talking one of his buddies on my team, "You look like you ran into a brick wall with your mouth open!" Oh man, the face he made was what killed us, the game stopped for 15 minutes cuz we were all laughing so hard.

So yeah, back to the patients... was there some kind of open-mouth-brick-wall-slamming event here recently?

Played 4 square after I got off work early and tried some new rules

-Double Team
Players that cooperate to ace another player both recieve 1 bonus point. 2 points each if they take out the king. This rule still needs some tweaking but it was still alot of fun to try.

-Spike after X amount of contacts
Similar to Tom's Rule but instead ot catching and trippy serving after a set amount of contacts you can spike. Lots of fun.

-Highlander Alpha
Each player has one point. The only way to score is to ace another player and take their point (or points). Player with all the points is the winner. There can be only one. Works well if there is no line.

-Highlander Beta
No points. First player to Ace everyone else wins. Works well if there is no line. Added another rule in the middle of this game just to make things interesting; if you lose a hack-off lose your aces and start over.

I love the updated shred spot pics you put up in your dot org gallery. It's comprehensive and is such a great resource for anyone coming to Chicago to kick. I really like how the pics are all from different eras of CIC too, it brings back some great memories
