Is it fine to not cut the first layer of mesh laver shoe?

I only cut the threads to open up the toe box and i dont think i even finished doing that with my current pair. I've never dropped a move and thought, damn, i should have taken the canvas out. That said my ankles don't crank alot and i try and catch my clippers on the plasticy rubbery bit of the sole that comes up onto the bottom of the inside rather than on the mesh, so the mod wouldn't make a differnce to me. Alot of players find that when they crank, the insides wrinkle - there are mods that fix this. Also if you catch your clippers on the mesh then cutting the canvas would help. I think Eric's advice is really good. Play in them first. See how your style pans out, and then you'll know what mods, if any, are needed.
