World Footbag?

Post by Timbag »

Hey, I looked around locally and ended up not finding any Laver's, so I purchased a pair from http://www.worldfootbag.com

Have you guys done business through them? How are they?

thanks.

Yeah. They usually overcharge on their Lavers, but they tend to have them in good/great condition nonetheless.

I got my uber cool Red Lavers from them.

I reciently had 2 pairs shipped to Australia.
I've never had a problem with them.
And, by supporting them, you're supporting footbag as a percentage of every purchase goes to the IFPA.

Back when I used Lavers, I made it a point to only buy Lavers from worldfootbag.com. They have done so much to promote footbag in the world, and they still sponsor tournaments like Worlds. Can you find Lavers cheaper online? Maybe. But I guarantee that the difference in price is worth it, cause that money will go towards promoting the sport, as opposed to lining the pockets of some shoe store.

If you are going to buy Lavers, buy from worldfootbag.com. It's your duty as a footbagger to do so.

What Ken said.

It's prefectly set up for people like me (too poor or too lazy) to support the IFPA, because it gives you the opportunity to donate some money to the orginisation when you buy your lavers!

The prices of Lavers on worldfootbag aren't too far from what I'd pay for shoes and my first pair was off there. Also, they were really nice when I added in the comment that if they put gift on the packing slip, I'd not have to pay an arm and a leg for customs and they did that for me. It was shipped quickly and I have no complaints about worldfootbag.

You're kidding me?
How many newbs come on to .org asking-mind you, after the fact of purchase-how good Da 120.

Who exactly recommends Stan Smiths?

How many of these are good for freestyle?

They do such harm to the freestyle world and mislead newbs on a daily basis with their sub par equipment & how they take advantage of the less knowledgable

Take 'er easy there Vindicator. Good enthusiasm, misplaced venom.

World footbag does a lot of good. I know I have at least 4 personal stories where they've helped me with events and charities. Many other players probably have similar stories. Plus, buying shoes for (maybe) $5 more than most other sources (although many times when I check, they're cheaper than other sources) is a nominal thing when you're buying from someone on the "inside".

I too have had an event sponsored by the WFA and they're great. They give a lot to promoting footbag. Also, every shoe that you buy from WFA, they have to restock it from Adidas. And that shows a multi-national company that wants nothing to do with us, that we DO make them money and are a worthwhile sport to look into.

The more money that goes into this sport, the more events pop up around the world and the easier it is for you to make the trip to them.

They help the shred scene but hurt the potential shredders. They impair beginner footbaggers by misleading them. Almost all of their bags are novelty. Not to mention-who uses stan smiths? Why don't they invest in G's and Climas?

They hurt potential freestylers. Those who dream of one day graduating the hackin lifestyle go to WFA and are mislead by shoddy products. Just like Wham-o

all those people who do buy bags end up finding some sort of forum modified or whatnot and end up getting guided the right direction anyway , its not worth argueing over when everyone else has a positive outlook to world footbag

anyways

I got my first pair of blue lavers from there , they not only support footbag but they make it possible for a good pair of lavers and great service

I understand your enthousiasm for SHRED, but not everybody who enjoys kicking a footbag around wants to shred. Not every kicker thinks of shred as something to graduate to from circle kicking. Its a matter of perspective. There are many many kickers out there who are simply not interested in devoting time and energy to getting alot better at controlling a footbag, unfortunately, probably far far more than are interest in sweating and skooling and drilling to learn ripwalk and spinning osis. There is nothing wrong with them only wanting to play footbag a little bit and casually instead of all the time and intensely. Furthermore, there are some very good kickers out there who see shredders as completely missing the point of how they like to play the game: to them we're all just self-involved ball-hogs, when what they like to do involves alot of good passes and saves (you must admit, shredders hardly ever pass, and when they do, its hardly a serious part of the object of our game). To them, its not about what the individual does with the bag, but rather what the circle does with it (again, you may admit that shredders like us don't even really need to play in a circle, 'cause we're not passed back and forth; we may as well all sit down while the one person takes his turn, and stand up only for our turn [yes, I know, its an exageration]).

World Footbag serves those people as well as the shredders. In fact, if World Footbag didn't cater to those circle hackers, they would probably go out of business immediately. Those circle kickers probably outnumber serious shredders by way more than 100 to 1. World Footbag isn't holding those people back from becoming better shredders. The majority of those kickers simply aren't interested in becoming serious shredders. It would almost be to our detriment. Just imagine if fifty thousand circle kickers out there all insisted on getting good hand-sewn facile 32-panel bags... It would be nearly fucking impossible for the serious shredders to get their hands on good Lonn or Felix bags. There probably wouldn't even be enough Freedoms and Footfighter to go around. Let those guys kick crotcheted bags. And in the mean-time, some of the money that World Footbag makes from selling the hacky-sackers their crocheted bags get channeled towards the shredders by way of WFA donations to serious shred events, like the Colorado Shred Symposium (they were amongst the largest contributors to Shred Symposium 2).

I understand where you're coming from on the casual kickers. But what about the people who want to become something more that are mislead by the crappy products? They need to offer much more in the way of freestyle-especially if they are sponsoring worlds + other freestyle events. They don't offer enough freestyle products. Albeit modified's stitchers probably couldn't afford the time WFA's business would get them, not to mention dealing with bag complications, but they could be selling Footfighters, Moshers, Abshires, Hackeysnacks etc. instead of da 120.

I guess I'm a bit of a penny pincher. ebay has a way of warping my mind sometimes.

But yeah, donating to the IFPA is definitely rad. I still support that concept to the highest degree. :)

In my opinion, it is not wise to think less of World Footbag.com. We don’t have to support our self, but it is a good idea. We have a few “well known” footbag related companies, simply because a few idealist / enthusiast think it is worth the effort. It is not a million dollar industry, but often these companies exist to bring revenue back to the sport. They can’t exist if they don’t make money for other purposes as well and therefore they also have to sell to a larger market and different target groups.

World Footbag.com is perhaps not the idle footbag shopping area for a super solid shredder with an attitude. In my opinion, one should see it as an opportunity instead of complaining.

In Denmark we have established a cool company called TRIO, which support the sport and deals in footbag accessories. We mostly please shredders, but we also service netplayers and hacky enthusiasts. And just for the record, we have Mads Neuhard, IljaMitrofanov & Felix Zenger 32 panel freestylebags on stock. Check out the site, it all in Danish and unfortunately we don’t sell outside the country :!:

I always respect and support World Footbag.com. I recommend all players to buy their Lavers from the first online shoe resource. Before it was possible to find them elsewhere, they were sold from World Footbag.com. I got my first pair in 1996 and there was nowhere else to find them for me. At least in Europe lots of players have benefited from that fact, not to mention it was an easy access to facile sandbags.

I know the people behind the initiative and they are highly respected players. Actually the competed back when the word “shred” did not exist. They still compete in net at our annual Worlds and they support our sport in all possible ways.

Don’t take our fundament for granted, but support and strengthen it where you find opportunities and needs.

if worldfootbag was hurting the shred scene, then shouldn't the scene be getting smaller?
