So you are basically arguing that since no one can prove or disprove it, it must be true? That argument is fundamentally flawed, something must be proven to be true. And once again, your brilliant brain can't spell...
Where did I present this argument that you claim I presented? Once again, when you start arguing my points, I might see you as worthy of my time, but until then you're just a poor fool who I spend my time on because I feel sorry for you.

Hahaha.... Continuing to insult my spelling isn't getting us anywhere. Why do you continue to even try?

But you are giving me the time of day. And you keep changing what you're arguging about so by your frame of the situation no one can argue your points. Care to specify what your points are?

Sorry, didn't read any of the topic since my last post, just wanted to respond to Dan:

No, Dan, "hell" does not scare me, because to me it is a joke. The only thing the concept of hell does to me is allow me a momentary intellectual diversion.

Also, coming to terms with being an organic organism has a lot to do with this thread. To me coming to terms with being an organic organism means that you have to accept that when you die, you die. All of the cells and cellular organization that previously existed that allowed you to even BE scared of hell or even "feel a design presence" decays after you die. That is how death works. That is why I cannot fathom a heaven or hell or be scared of either.

I'm really tired of Dan. He seems to have this attitude about him that says, "It's all about me, and that's it." I'm glad you've got God, because with such an disagreeable personality, it's probably tough to maintain a relationship with anyone else.

Anyway.

I don't consider myself an atheist...however I do believe that there is definitely something more to "all of this" than us. Science as a whole simply states "the way things are", and physics has formulated laws based solely upon observation. I mean, no one really knows "why" these things are (I guess under Dan's reasoning, no one should even raise the question)...forgive me, but it seems all too convenient to say, "Well, we don't know because we're not supposed to."

There's something bigger going on. Do y'all realise how freakin' huge the universe is? It's not just about us, and it's not just "watching out for your own hide." Yeah, Earth as a planet is special, and its existance itself is completely against the odds....but ultimately, that still doesn't point to a man in the sky.

Scientists are now observing quasars that are in fact billions of light years away. ie: the light they are observing presently is light that left the quasar billions of years AGO. Billions of years.

Kinda makes the short life of Jesus 2000 years ago seem insignificant in the big picture.

Here's a site for you Dan: http://www.positiveatheism.org

Taken from the bottom of that page:
"You are an intelligent human being. Your life is valuable for its own sake. You are not second-class in the universe, deriving meaning and purpose from some other mind. You are not inherently evil—you are inherently human, possessing the positive rational potential to help make this a world of morality, peace and joy. Trust yourself."
— Dan Barker, former clergyman, quoted from his book, Losing Faith in Faith

But I suppose if you already believe that all atheists are unable to achieve good, this has all been a waste of my time. And yours.

If so, don't waste any more. Go school your 2s.

Well, I suppose if your most basic definition of atheism is to disagree with the current definitions of "God", yeah I'm atheist.

Who are you to say that people of other faiths aren't following the precepts of Jesus, and thus following Jesus. I believe that, for instance, Ghandi did more as a Hindu than he could of as a Christian convert. He followed God's plan as God intended for him, and lived a very "Christian" life.
Ummm...I didn't say that. Please help me find where I said that? Because I can't find it.

Sam Potter, I agree with you.

I don't want to insult any believers out there, but in my opinion believing in something so absurd as God (let alone heaven or hell) is similar to believing in UFOs, ghosts, Loch Ness Monster, Santa Claus...

-Are you going to church today?

-Yes, why?

-Well, I might be able to save you some time....

-Oh, can you drive us today?

-Not exactly. I was doing my tax returns this morning, and accidentally proved God didn't exist. Enjoy!

-Hmm... there must be something wrong here.... Nope, it all checks out! Can't let this little doozy get out... *burns*

You really think that? There are many different forces that control your life and I'm not even talking about God. Your parents, society, nature, etc. all have/had some sort of control over your life. So saying that you are in COMPLETE control of your life, is simply wrong.
They may have an influence on my life, but they are not in control of it. If something is harming me or influencing me in a negative way, i can simply dismiss it, or not let it bother me. You are in complete control of how everything in your life effects you. You can chose to let it harm you, or chose to accept it. Most people chose to let it harm them. In this way, i am in complete control of my life and anything i am feeling.

You do realize that everything you said in that post contains just as much blind faith as my saying a God exists.

And tell me where I said Atheist's can't achieve "good"? The reason you probably don't liek reading my posts is because you don't comprehend them. I never said Atheist's are bad people or can't be good people. Most of my friends would consider themselves Atheists. All I'm saying is that from the Christian perspective, Atheist's aren't going to Heavan. I'm not even saying Heavan exists, I'm just arguing the ponits presented by Troyson from the only other posistion possible. If you want to read to far into what I'm saying, go ahead, but you're really not getting my points at all, and that is fairly obvious to me.

The reason people hate me on modified is because I remind you all of the kid who was smarter, better looking, and had more friends in High School than you. That's a fact btw.

Yes, please Dan, help us out.

You're not arguing Tryson's points from the "only posistion possible"...and I think that fact in of itself is what we've ended up arguing about now. It's not black and white, straight up.

Furthermore, wait wait wait, more friends in high school? First off, why would you even make such a statement. Second, what with so many friends, why do you even hang around the footbag community? You clearly don't even kick anymore...so what other reason could there be?

As long as we're telling eachother what the other is thinking, I'm going to go out on a limb here and tell you that you stick around for the community itself. Kind of strange though, to make such an effort -to stay- despite no real common ground, and at the same time work so hard to alienate yourself from the very group of people you chose to associate yourself with in the first place.

So maybe you are smarter and perhaps you're even nicer to look at than me. That doesn't change how incredibly lonely you are.

That's a fact, btw.

This isn't a personal attack mods, I'm simply stating the truth of the situation, as Dan is for everyone else.

Calling me lonely doesn't change the fact that I'm better looking than you :o :D

It isn't the only posistion anymore, because we aren't arguing about the same thigns we were originally. Go back and read the first couple of my posts. Troyson was talking about how he couldn't see how God could send nice people to Hell, and I told him why. I never said that a God exists, or tried to force my opinions onto anyone.

Waiting for you to propose.

I like arguing? Don't try to psychoanalysis me via internet, kid. You're looking very silly.

Actually, i don't think you're better looking than me, and judging by your atrocious spelling and garbage logic, you're not intelligent at all. Being self-assured without any reason to be is not intelligence. When someone pins you down and you can't argue against thier point you shift things around to make it seem like they misunderstood you, but that's completely transparent to anyone here. So don't waste your time trying to convince everyone you're better than them because you simply are not.
