Join me, in my quest for "NEW new Lavers."

Post by Switch Kicker »

Anyone else getting sick of the White/Blue and White/Green Lavers? I am, they are too dull and boring. I'm going to buy a pair from Zappos, the exclusive, White/Green/Orange ones... but they aren't exactly too great of a change either...

I don't know about the rest of you... But I want a larger variety of Lavers... White/Red forinstance would be a pair I would buy. I also want Navy Blue Mesh/Blue, Black Mesh/Black, Black Mesh/White, White Mesh/Black...

I don't just want to look good while playing Footbag, I want to look , GOOD, while playing Footbag, and just when I'm walking around...

Do you think we could possilby stir something up with Adidas, you know... send enough e-mails, letters, and comments? Arn't their enough Footbaggers in the world to make it so it's in Adidas' intrest to satisfy our tastes in style while still being able to shred our hardest? I do.

Honestly, how many people buy Tennis shoes, for Tennis? Alot, but there are probably just as many people, who buy Lavers, for Footbag... I myself, beleive, that we are the absolute main reason that the old Mesh Rod Lavers are still in production...

I hope you all will join in and help me with this... Because I WANT NICE LOOKING LAVERS!!!

I'm off now, to go find ways to contact Adidas, I'll post an address for sending letters and such by mail, and post it here, along with the e-mail address. I'm looking to stir up some shit at Adidas.

By the way, I may sound somewhat hippocritical saying this... But I have changed, lol. DON'T act like an asshole of a customer if you're going to get involved with this... Just be polite, persistant, and ANNOYING AS SHIT!!! DON'T take no for an answer, don't let them give yo uthe cold sholder, just keep on sending messages, mail and such. Even ifyou're just copy and pasting and resending the same thing, dont spam... but send more than one if you're gonna help.

If this picks up a bit, I'm going to use Adobe Photoshop and start altering pictures of Lavers, to make them look like Lavers, I would want to buy. (Not an idea for them, simply a message saying, we want new colors and such.)

Thank you, for reading my... uhhh... essay? And I hope you're with me on this stance.

Fred.

Are you joking? Adidas doesn't give a shit what the 2000 people who play freestyle think. Saying we are as much of a market as tennis players in ridiculous. Check this out: The United States has a total of 23.6 million tennis players, according to the USTA/TIA study. That's just the United States. Where are the other 23 million footbag players? I'm not trying to shut you down, I'm just saying if every single footbag player wrote them asking for different colors, it probably wouldn't do anything.

Since I shut down your idea, I'll give you one of mine. www.sharpie.com.

Ah, I see, pulling off a petition? I'll go ahead and send like...10 or 20 emails.

Maybe someone should type up a default draft so everyone that wants to throw in their part can just copy and paste and email or write a letter to adidas...it'll make people alot more likely to join in.

I just talked to my girlfriend... and she corrected me on my idea... I should put together a chart of 3-5 different shoe designs, and put it on several major footbag forums and have a poll and such. Either way, I just spoke to The Vindicator on the phone, and he and I both really want to get this going.

(Yea, I DID just totally ignore your post David, but thanks for the input, even if it was in a negative way. And no, you did not shut down my idea. If you're not going to help, then don't post in this topic.)

As for the linky to the Black Laver, tyvm, that's one less decision I have to make on which designs I should put in this poll. Josh Rose and I are going to talk about this more, it'll be a few weeks before I get a poll up and such. Seeing as Adidas is a decent sized company, I gotta make sure I do this right, THE FIRST time.

Anyways, I STRONLGY suggest keeping the e-mails and letters going. Someone who's good at writing should type up a "common" letter as I call it, lol. One that will end up being recongnized by the people in sweatshops that read our e-mails, and a letter as well that we can just print and send via US Postal service. As for phone calls, I' mnot going to do that, lol. Phone calls seems like you'd be... bitching too much I guess.

I have sent 10 e-mails so far, and I'm about to send another.

When I finally get this poll up and ready, when it's done, I'm going to have to get a really good formal letter to go with it. I like to see it as, attack with annoying customers that want new products, and then have a sophisticated treaty offered to stop the annoying e-mails. =D That's just how I see it... That's not how it really is though ,lol.

For now, just keep sending e-mails, letters, and phonecalls if you have the guts to do it, and also, post ideas for colors YOU want too see Adidas come out with.

Right, I'll post with an update, later. Thanks.

lol dont post if i have something negative to say? I'm just trying to not get you excited about it. What on earth does adidas have to gain besides about 20 more pairs sold by changing their colors. It would probably cost them alot to change all the dying and shit anyway. Whatever, i was just trying to be realistic.

What size are you? I'm a 9, but they had an 8and a half so i took it. I figure if they're too uncomfortable i'll just sell them on here. And if no one wants to buy them, they were only 30 bucks :P
Also noticed there's now a pair of 10's up there that wasn't there earlier when i bought mine.

Isn't there a petition already in circulation about all of this? I'm with David on this that people shouldn't get too excited for a change immediately or sometime soon. These matters can become a waste of time for Adidas and probably too expensive of a cap for them to offer alternative colored Lavers. Plus, there are other shoes that Adidas is promoting that have a higher name than the Rod Laver shoe brand, thus lowering the impact of the focus group on Rod Lavers. And let's not forget the competition of other shoe companies that thus decrease the demand for Rod Laver shoes with competition.

Although our community is pretty large as it is, the majority of us doesn't match that of most of the people in the US that favor Rod Laver shoes. In fact, there are people that might want other brands other than Rod Laver. Just don't get your hopes up guys.

I like the white lavers. As David says, they are a great sharpie canvas. I invested in a $10 pack of multicoloured sharpies just for my mod-job. :)

And really, if you look hard enough, you'll find different colours of Lavers. I think the fun is in the search. I currently own red, red plaid, and white/green/pink. I've seen everything from white/canary to camo Lavers.

And seriously, there's already a petition going for keeping the laver in production. You'll find it if you google 'Rod Laver' and 'footbag'. I think it's all you can really ask for in terms of mass production. Adidas makes the standard green/white and navy/white Lavers and then makes certain colours in limited edition because if they made mass quantities of shoes in all different colours, it doesn't make sense financially for them. There isn't that kind of demand.

Just like the Converse Chuck Taylor, it really only comes in the handful of standard solid colours. The rest of the different variations are all just limited editions where only a certain quantity is made. Chucks come in a handful of colours because they are a hugely popular shoe. Comparatively, the Laver is no longer a popular shoe. Most people have not heard of it specifically and the people who want them are mostly footbaggers and older folk looking for nostalgia. Be satisfied that you have the options of the Rod Laver standard lineup.

Wow... This is NOT the response I expected from this site... Nothing but shoot downs and telling me that I'm ungrateful for that fact that they are even making Rod Lavers. And give me a link for this other petition you speak of.

Besides, this is business, you can always negotiate. We can always post polls and such and petition for limited edition lavers that the mass wants. I heard about those white/green/pink, and tehre's white/green/orange out... But we can ATLEAST petition for like, a limited edition shoe that the mojority of us want. Like a complete change in color... not just adding on orange/pink on the back and tongue labels.

Serously, quit being so negative about this. Yea, there's a damn good chance that this isn't going to work, but please, stfu, let me (And anyone that's in this with me) have our fun and atleast TRY, (Heard of it? Trying? Yea, it's used ALOT in Footbag, and in many other topics in the world.) to get Adidas to come out with a few new colors, even if it's just limited addition...

Pfft, you've totally ruined MY mood now, I'm gonna PM Josh Rose about this, I'll repost later.

(Fucking... rediculous. Sorry if I sound like an ass, I dont' realize it right now.)

1) They aren't shoot downs, just advice

2) I doubt the "masses" really want this

3) I admire your energy, but couldn't it be better spent in somewhere footbag needs it, like company edorsements?

even is adidas decides to make these shoes. You're gonna have to pay close to 80 bucks for them. I'd rather pay 50 from worldfootbag. Cheaper for me and i help support the sport.

They are shoot downs, you are trying to convince me not to do this, and I dont' care for people that say, "You can't." So yea, there you have it.

And I'd GLADLY pay $80 for a pair of nice looking limited edition lavers. It may not help the sport itself, but that's too bad. Not EVERYTHING you do, has to help the sport financially.

I don't see what your guy's big fuss is about... I just want one new pair of Lavers, there is nothing wrong with that, or trying to get Adidas to do it. Either go with it and contribute to the other topic I made, or just quit reading about it, because I don't like talking to people that say, "You can't." You're right though, the odds are VERY slim, but I sure as hell am going to try, so quit shooting it down.
