how much should i gather?

i was just wondering how much you should gather when sewing a 32 panel.

well i don't know that much about sitching, but you should gather enough so that the panels pop out.

iv never done a 32 only 14's and below but from what iv read you are supposed to gather as much as possable

For 32's all stitchers gather differently. Some people do full gathers and some a little gather and some even do no gather at all. The key is what your asthetic preference is and how you like the bag to feel. Experiment with different degrees of gather around the pent to see what you like best. There is no one best amount of gather. Everyone likes something different.

Remember, it's really not how much you gather but that you gather your even stitches evenly to make your bag the most asthetically pleasing. Consistency throughout the entire bag is the most important thing in stitching a footbag.

I'm no stitcher, but I think even gathering means that the bag will break in evenly.

I think it goes without saying that if you don't give every pentagon the same amount of gather the bag won't be round.

I think when choosing how much to gather, there is heaps of things to take into account. If your stitches are really close together i.e. you are making smallish bag with large bleed holes, then i think you can pretty much gather all the way. If you are making a medium sized bag with triangular hexes and you gather all the way, you will have made a piece of crap that will never break in.

When i decide how much to gather a bag, i make sure that the seams aren't too thick.
