?stuck on filler?

i'm really stuck on filler for my bags right now, i've made a couple bags with this fine grain sand

it works, it's just that it leaks through the bags - i have taken a strainer and sat and filtered that same sand so that i only got bigger stuff and it works great in the bags but i sat there for like 15+ minutes and got just enough for one bag --- i also have this stuff my dad picked up for me called granite dust

- it works too (you gotta wash it off first, as you can see there's a lot of powder stuff on it - note my fingertips) i really like the sand filler the mr. sandbags have and the kind i filtered out, i'm thinking about going down to my creek and getting some thicker sand from the little islands/banks

what do you suggest i use/do?

That second filler will DESTROY bags very fast.

Try canary gravel if you want something a little bigger sized.

ok, my mom went out with her friend to the fabric store to help her with curtains, and i told her to pick me up some more crushed panne too while i was at scouts - i came back and i totally forgot about (i had a joyous moment when she showed me and i remembered) anyway, she picked up some polypellets for me too

, i didn't even ask (i had told her about them), but anyway, i thought they were gonna be the kind that are in crochet bags, but i was even more pleased when i saw that they were even smaller - i don't really like big filler right now since all i play with are sandbags

yea those are the poly pellets most people use in the 32-panel bags. i use em

do they work well in 4 panels? maybe mixed with sand?

for 6 panel bags i uses these REALLY small beads (the holes on them barely fit of the head of a needle) and they work Great! the only problem with them is that they are 5 buck a package (a package makes about 3-4 bags)

Zeb, those beads are called seed beads and yeah, they can be rather expensive. Quite a few 32 stitchers use them as filler too. I like sand inside 4 and 6 panels. It plays quite well.

i think they work great for smallerer 6 panels, because its almost like having a thinker sand in them? yeah i <2+1 them

I would try to stray away from poly pellets and sand as a filler combo. The most the bag you're stitching will utilize in the filler is the sand rather than the poly pellets, so having the latter in there is useless in a way. Sand/gravel and BBs is a solid combo on its own.

so you would reccomend not using poly pellets for a 4 panel? what should i use them for then - i don't make 32's right now, i'm thinking about making a 14 and some more 6's

Hmm... poly pellets work well for higher paneled bags, like 14 panels and up with some BBs I believe. Can't say much other than save them for 32s, but whatever.
