Do you believe you are ego driven?

Recently I have realized I've been looking for recognition and attention for things... slowly working on it! Nobody may notice, but the intention and feeling is still there!
Are most people ego driven? Are you? Is being a litlte ego driven bad?
(Sorry about the editing and "test" thing, was trying to make a poll.)

I think it's a personal growth thing. We seek attention and recognition from others, especially in adolescent years. I'm 24 and I still do it too. Lately I've realized it's something that needs to come from within. You've got to be satisfied with yourself and build meaning into your own life, you can't get it from others. Ok I may be getting a little too philosophical but I hope you get my point. It's your ego, you may not believe you have control over it, but actually you and only you do.
Hmm. I think I'll be the dissenting one here. Lacking ego pretty much entirely. So what if someone's better than me? Meh.
I don't do things to impress others or to make self feel better. Rather because I'm bored. Boredom pushes me. As does losing something.
So no ego here. Probably no self-esteem either.
Yes, I am a very strange creature.
