Ok I remember seeing a how-to on ankle stretching but I can't find it. I just tried to google "ankle crank stretch" and found the News 8 Austin story on footbag with the quote by me about stretching my ankles for ankle crank. Oh what a great thing to be immortailzed in google by

The thing is, my ankles just don't bend beyond about 30-40 degrees even against the ground. Should I bend the supporting leg more for clipper and osis or should I do something else entirely?

Yeah, bending more at the knee of the support leg will help. So will concentrating on pulling up (towards the inside surface) on your toes. Do the stretch where you press the side of your foot against the ground...it should stretch the muscles over time. It's kind of generic advice, but I hope it helps?

   embarassment? didn't know about that aspect yet? but when i think about it, ians clippers are quite embarassing LOL... jk though ian - you just told me you finally hit 20 consecutive osii, so i think the "never ending" doesn't really apply too much...

bend your knees far enough down
point your support leg inwards
push your toes against the sole and away from the ground (like baby toe towards big toe)
stretch often and use your muscles when stretching
when you walk around, consciouscly(sp) have a rolling step, it helps build the
muscles necessary to hold a clipper where it is needed.

can't think of anything else...

Just what it sounds likes! Roll your foot when you walk.

How does a rolling step do anything? I walk like that normally. I don't notice it. So, you just put your foot down heel first and then step down? Seems normal to me.

Thanks for the advice guys :D. I'll try to bend the supporting leg more and point it inwards more.

Indeed, but I can only dream of hitting 20 osii, so your obviously doing something right

To be honest, i have seen much much worse clipper flatness than Ians...and i dont think they are too unflat. I would be offended if someone joked about my clippers that casually.

i think ian knows i'm just continuing my constant picking on him which is solelyaiming for offending him, but doesn't have anything to do with reality so should not be worried about...
and of course his clippers actually aren't that unflat... with some more time he'll be even hitting 100 osii.

hahahahah 100 osii... Max you are a kidder
its all good alex, you no how i talk about my clippers anyway haha

I find it embarassing because after playing for as long as i have, i should be much much better than i am. And that sucks.
I also drop alot of tricks that i shouldnt. and cant hit things that i should.

not true... there is no should be this good or that! you are a good shredder and i think if you'd put less pressure on yourself you'd be more statisfied with your game which would actually result in playing evenbetter and even harder... but i honestly don'T think that you should be much better... you have good style and form and a wide selection of tricks. and if you went less hard, you'd even have cool strings i am sure...

oh and most people have a rolling step. but if you consciously work those muscles that are necessary for that , your clippers will become strongers. or at least that is what a physiotherapist told toni when he had a lot of trouble with his ankle and his clippers.

I don't know if this has to do with anything, but many people have trouble doing this. With shoes on, I can bend my leg back to my back, and facing a wall, I can bend my foot along with the leg so the sole is flat up against the wall. Does this have to do with anything at all? It doesn't seem to be soley that either.

Or are there any other ways to test if my ankles are good enough? I'm not looking for advice on improving it.

I think the only advice for that guy is to say a thankyou prayer and get fucking shredding! The only way to test if they are 'good enough' is to play

You don't need good ankle crank to get good at osis or clipper. I have little crank and I can do over 100 osii. It's all about form and of course practice. Always think up-down. You want the bag to go as straight up as possible and you want to delay the bag as straight down as possible, even with osis.

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.
