hahaha yeh i get that all the time... Im 21 and people reckon i look like 17 or something. I work in a bar and im always having people coming up, thinking they are funny, asking ME for ID before i serve them or making some crack like 'does you mum know you are working in a bar'. I dont really care though, just enjoy looking young while i can hahah

Avery McCombs is in town for a few weeks but he's only available on weekends. He kicked for the first time in way to long.

I played yesterday and today. I feel like I've gotten better over the last eight months but I can't really tell. It's time to reread some blog. I've been hitting ripwalk>ripwalk at least once every session over the last week (I think). Yesterday I hit Magellan on both sides but couldn't do it today.

I should get a lot of work done this week. I feel like I'm not that much busier than I was a few months ago, but I feel like I'm spread very thin, and like I'm not here for the people I should be here for.

Things tend to sound funny out of context.

Tonight I played with Fletch and Isaac Noyes for the first time. He's going to work on inside kicks and is getting the timing down on toe stalls. His record is 11. He has lavers which are very nicely moded. It was a pretty easy going session. I did 25 drifter-style clippers.

Heheh thanks for the compliment Emily! Glad you will have me here hahah

Drifter-style is something Karim was trying to show me but i couldnt really get the hang of and now ive forgotten the form. Its like you do the drifter type 'hop' or footwork, but you dont do a dex, they are like alternating clippers where your feet switch positions early and quick.

Friday:
-Driving over the Santa Cruz mountains I saw SNOW on the ground but it wasn't cold enough to really stick much. But instead of being dark green, all of the trees were white with splotches of green. It was beautiful.
-Remember Emily, Dat is always right.
-Easy flight
-Met Mike B. (the Duncan guy), we hit it off right away. The car ride to the convention center was... long, but neat. On the way, we ate lunch and Mike had cheese fries for the first time. On the way we were also almost in a really bad car accident. A guy pulled out in front of us and there was someone right behind us; if he hadn't swerved so much so fast it would have been a bad accident and we would have been injured because of the angles of the other cars.
-After we stopped at the convention center, we headed to Mikey Hansen's school. On the way, we were turning right at a green stoplight and I saw a $5 bill on the road. I said "There's a five dollar bill on the ground!" and Mike B. pulled over. I jumped out of the car and looked in the street where I saw it. It was gone.

I ran back to the car. He saw it on the ground on the other side of the street, so I jumped out of the car and ran to the other side of the street and grabbed it. YES! He said he had never seen anyone spot money on the road from a moving vehicle. Yes, I am a champion.
-Mike B. dropped me off at Mikey's school and invited him to hang out on Sat if he wanted to.
-Mikey H. is cool
-He is a good typist
-Mikey H. and I hung out and talked, FED A BUNNY

:D, then went to a vegan Chinese restaurant with his friend Herbie. It was surprisingly good food. Well, everything except what I ordered.

But we shared the other dishes so it didn't matter.
-Arg, I still owe Mikey $30
-Then Mikey and I watched The Shaw Shank Redemption, which I hadn't seen before. I liked it.
-Mike dropped me off at my hotel.

Saturday:
-Mike B.and I met for breakfast which was SO good.
-We went to the toy show and there was a little area in front of the Duncan display where I played when people would walk by. I did tiltless and it went over well. There were several buyers from several companies that were interested. It was fun being able to talk about footbag and have non-footbag people be so interested. Mikey came and played with me all day which was fun and kept me from getting too tired. He also juggled when we were too tired to play.
-At the beginning of the day, it was difficult for Mike B. to do two kicks in a row, and by the end of the day he did 7!
-I did 27 strong clippers and my calf burned.
-After the event ended, the three of us went to the Casino Night which was held in a banquet hall at a nearby hotel. When you walk in, they hand you two drink tickets and two fake $100 bills. There were so many tables set up, and it was all ritzy and nice. We got some of the free food from the buffet and stood and ate. Mike and I had some drinks.

The three of us spent most of the night at a black jack table. It was really fun being able to gamble fake money because you can be adventurous and not feel scared or guilty. We all ended up winning a lot. We all also went to the bathroom and when we came in we got more tickets and money. They were just handing them out and didn't care. At the end of the night you turn chips in for free raffle tickets. None of us won the two night stay and prime rib dinner for two.

Sunday:
-Good breakfast again!
-7+ miles?!?
-We were demonstrating at a different booth with Duncan products. This time I had to play in the aisle, but that was kind of more fun.
-Mike B. said that since he got seven kicks on Sat., his goal for Sunday would be ten. "A good goal," I thought. Later in the day he either did 13 or 14 kicks! Yay Mike!
-Ever since Friday, we were planning on going to Irish Fest to get some food on one of the days since it was right next to our show. We walked out the door and to the gate but found out that it cost $16 per person to get in. We went back to the show and had meatball subs. Yum.

-We went back to the airport so I could catch my plane, and he could wait 7 hours for his. Yuck.
-I got home and Jennie, Jason and I played with yo-yos for about 10 minutes. I had to do it flip sided because I had a blister on my right hand from throwing so much over the last two days. How silly.

So Jason and I broke out a free hand yo-yo and watched an instructional CD-rom that came with the yo-yo, and we started trying to do 360's. We both did it almost all of the way at least a few times. I think my glowstick spinning history gave me an edge with the wrap part. Man, before Saturday I only knew how to make a yo-yo go up and down, now I can make it sleep, do a forward pass? I don't know what it's called when you throw it forward and have it come straight back... anyway, walk the dog, rock the cradle, trapeze, and I'm almost there with 360. Yo-yo party, Fun!

I had a fun time, but I was also really impressed with Duncan because Mike B. was so interested on getting input on how to make the product better- better playing in a footbag player's opinion. He said that he really wants to make a quality bag, because they think that it's possible. They want to help the sport as a whole, which is how they feel about yo-yo too. They have ongoing projects that they're currently working on, so we'll have to see what happens later.

Sorry, this is kind of off topic, but drifter clippers are the best!! I love footwork variations on easy moves. Luis is the best at those. Drifter style zulu clipper is the most fun move I've ever hit. It's interesting that people don't stress schooling these style of easy variations as much during the early periods of learning the sport. It really helps to become confident in dissecting different tricks and becoming comfortable with your style. Props for not neglecting the most fun part of footbag.

Sounds like you had a nice weekend. It's great that Duncan is so interested in footbag. Are we gonna see a commercial someday? I can't recall ever seeing any Duncan commercials. Do they air on the east coast?

I believe that it's going to air in a few weeks and be on for about five weeks, and Duncan is going to send me the latest copy of it so I can post it on Modified.

I wore white and red Duncan shirts while demonstrating over the weekend, and I got this "Duncan Equals Love" shirt from them too. It came shaped like a heart, so I I took a pic of it to show a friend who lives far away. They sent it back with a few improvements.

Also, here's a pic of the room I stayed in. There were SEVEN pillows on the bed.

Today Fletcher went to his first Stanford session. Steve, Dustin, a younger guy named Joe, Joe's Dad, Chase, Dat, Ben, and Kevin were there. Chase has been playing for three weeks and hit spinning clipper. What's with these fast learners? I don't get it. Dustin did stepping ss knee bump to op knee bump to ss butterfly which I think is pretty stylee. I broke my drifter record which had been four, but today I did (flip) toe drifter>6 drifters.

Fletcher gave me a huge high five. And I did a pixie set out of something else for once. Fun afternoon.

This is the busiest year I've ever had.

Thanks to you both.

Tonight I wanted to have an hour session with Fletcher but it ran a little over.

I warmed up with around 30 kicks, then did 167. Just for Jeremy. (where's the spite emoticon?)

Just kidding.

Then I did 30 legovers.

I did some regular stuff that felt kind of fun, then I tried throwing a dyno in midstring and missed. I did some skooling with strong dyno then decided to try flip again, knowing that I wouldn't come close. But I did, and I hit flip for the first time plus some. Fletcher told me to try dyno out of it and I came so close so many times... It was so fun. Fletcher totally won the race to 4 ripwalks (jumping from three to five), but I'm still beating him with drifters, the other thing we were competing over.

Tomorrow I'm giving a presentation on footbag to a small group of people at my school.

Friday Session:
Jeremy, Fletch and I kicked. I felt pretty good. I don't think I did anything worth mentioning. ... nope, too far away to be able to even remember. I know I tried some combos that I couldn't hit.

Friday Night:
Saint Patricks Day, the excuse for people in the USA to drink. Jeremy, Fletcher, Jennie, Jason and I hung out.

Super fun. ...got 4 hours of sleep, which is a lot less than the 9 hours I like to get every night.

Saturday Night: Plans changed so Fletch and I went to SF and hung with Ahren, and Joe Crain, his girlfriend Liza, and MattO (non-footbag player) who were visiting from out of town. I like Liza a lot; it's a nice feeling when you just know that someone is a neat person. Good. Irish dancing

, singing, licorice shot, religion/spirituality, footbag, music, multiple and group conversations, stories, Burning Man a good possibility. SO TIRED. Good food, good strawberry shake. SO TIRED. Better.

Sunday "Morning": Bliss. Chai Latte, laying down with a nice breeze blowing on my face, head and arms draping slightly out the 2nd story window while letting the sun warm me. At the time, I couldn't imagine ever feeling any better than I did at that moment. Everything felt right, a complete natural high.

Jeremy and Gleb (non-footbag player) came over so they came with Ahren, Fletch and me to get some bagels. Delicious bagels. We walked to Golden Gate Park and went to Hippy Hill where there's a big drum circle every Sunday. We started to play. A bit later, Joe Crain, Liza, Steve and Dustin found us. Bryan F. and CK came a little later. And Carol showed up a while after that! It was a Jam.

During the session, I hit toe drifter to dlo which is really unusual because I have trouble hitting dlo on my strong side and can't do it on my flip. I feel like my ripwalks are okay but they definitely need some fixing. I did rip>clip>rip>clip>rip>clip>drop, a lot of dyno attempts and a few dynos, a few blurs, and a few plos, but that's mixed in with tiltless stuff over the course of something like three hours. I don't want to give the impression that I'm "okay" when I'm still trying to get stuff. I didn't get to play with Ahren or CK for very long. Bryan's style is as smooth as ever and he was hitting some nice links, Ahren seemed rust-free and played well. It was fun getting to see Joe freestyle for my first time. Carol looked good for not having played in a long time. I could tell that she wasn't at her best because of the string length, but she was still so smooth and everything looked so natural. I was able to hit a blur in front of her. (I had watched the .org video of her doing a blur a bunch at one point and I remember feeling proud of myself that I could hit something that Carol does in runs.

I footed dimwalk>ripwalk>dyno. Footed it on both sides...

Surprisingly, there was no 4-square all day. But I did kick a small child's hand while doing a string. That one's for you, Zeke. After the session ended some of us went to the only Thai place in SF. Well, from my experience anyway.

I feel too tired to be awake now. I feel like the usual zest I like to infuse my write-up type posts wasn't here this time. Oh well. I'll just include some zest here:
