Any shredders? Guitar-wise I mean.

Yo just wondering who else on the forum jammed. Who do you look up to and like to jam out? Personally I look up to Alexi Laiho, Dimebag, Zakk Wylde, Takayoshi Ohmura, Ygnwie, and Steve Vai. I like practicing stuff from Alexi the most though. Im attempting to learn some flamenco atm but eh.. its different than what im used to.

The guitarists that have been most influential on me, in chronological order:
Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, Trey Anestasio, Gerry Garcia....Wes Montgomery, Grant Green, Joe Pass, George Benson

SRV and Wes are definatly the most influential. Mainly because there solos were somewhat playable when I entered their genres, blues and jazz respectively. I think George Bensons versatility will be something I study for some time to come; blues, jazz, funk, soul, vocals are all avinues I want to adventure down once the real world hits.

I like Alexi too. I look up to people like Michael Romeo, John Petrucci and Paul Gilbert. I like prog metal a lot.

I used to shred a lot, and be really into Vai and Eric Johnson. Now the only shredding stuff I like to play is the duel that the karate kid does with steve vai in crossroads.

Haha, I love Eugene's Trick Bag in Crossroads. That crazy Steve Vai. Yngwie Malmsteen is out of this world.

I have played a little bit, for a very long time so I'm ok. I like to play Jesse Cook (fun flamenco to play) and I have been obsessed with Joey Eppard for the past like year. He's a core of the Earth underground acoustic artist that I wish everyone knew about.

When I think of shredder Buckethead comes to mind.

Michael Angelo Batio is insane though. Probably the fastest shredder on the planet.

Others would be Marty Friedman and Jason Becker. Their duo Cacophony is damn good. Check out "Speed Metal Symphony".

Ungh yes.. I have just found the love of jazz guitar. So fucking fun. Been learning jazz, and classical. Joygasm.
