fever reduction
i have been sick for a few days and can't get my temperature down. it hasn't been below 100F in awhile. i'm tired of taking medicine and feeling loopy. does anyone have some great ways to reduce fevers? (other than the obvious drinking lots of water)

What Peng said.
Try drinking raspberry tea(mix tea and raspberry jam) with some acitomenophen. It helps reduce fevers. If needed, stay in bed for as long as possible. Should it be a recurring fever, meaning goes down and then goes back up in like 2-3 hours, stay in bed. Read a few books or something.
You shouldn't have any reason to avoid tylenols. They are pretty harmless. Aspirin is more dangerous and shouldn't be used without proper reason or care.
The cold bath is only good if you are at a really high temp. I don't know Farenheit...40C is really bad. That's a good time to try the cold bath. It will quickly drop your fever, but it should only be used as an emergency option.
The fevers are good for your body, but JoFa failed to explain that it is best to keep them under control. Too high a temperature won't fry your brain or BS like that. It will simply slow down metabolic processes that go on in your blood. Same thing with blood pH. Should it be too high or too low, your metabolic processes will slow down and you'll die that way.
Anyway, Peng's advice is best, along with raspberry tea. You want to get the fever all the way down. Meaning to ~36.7C. If it doesn't get down, then sweat yourself more to get it down. If the fever persists for over 5-6 days, the problem is definitely serious. Go see another doctor. Don't let it become more than the regular flu.
