So whats goin down with the RFA? Anything new? when is GRASS? I'm pumped!

The RFA as a whole hasn't really been active... we havent had our sunday session in weeks, and I don't know what the RIT guys are up to. However, I am sure we all are still shredding in our little corners of the world. I had about 3 decent footbag days last week. It should be more, but I've been patching all my holes in my game as well as getting back up to speed after being injured. That means more variety from me, as well as stepping up my strings... off the top of my head, ive hit Alpine Legbeater bsos, Vertigo bsos, and close to matador>ripped warrior repeat. And some other stuff, especially in the dlo and whirl department.

The RIT juggle-in is on April 22nd, so GRASS will surely be on that weekend. But that's Aric and Paul's department though, since they are the RIT students.

We should like... announce it. April is going to be here soon and GRASS is going to be one of the biggest events in North America this year.

Also, I still have the same house here in Geneseo. If everyone would like to come down for a weekend like we did last year, then the weekend of March 17, 18, 19 would be best. It's spring break for me and I just need to double check that we will have an inside place to shred, just in case.

Ahh that would be sick chris I just hope I'm back in time for the geneseo jam. Me and pat are going to washington next week for a school trip. We will be back friday or saturday i think

But maybe we can work it out.

well, let's see... I went footbag crazy when I got here to school, and then my knee started really acting up. My hip hurt me over the summer, and recently, it's begun again. So my game entirely died down after that crazy spree of hitting whirlwind, nemesis, flip triple dexes, and some of my harder gyro moves.

Thanks to Will for saving the footblog from the bowels of this subforum. I get sad when I have to do it every time.

I've been really really getting into stitching, and every day I get super tense as I wait for my facile to get here and I go check the mailbox multiple times a day. I'm hoping to make a few for this weekend before I head off to the slap hacker jam. I've made eight so far, sold one, and kept one (my first). I gave the rest away to friends here at school, they like them. I'm really pleased with how they're starting to turn out, and I feel like I've really grasped the concept of bag making. I can't wait to try out a bunch of different techniques and find the one I like the best. My current technique is slightly shorter pent edges than long hex edges, shallow bite, little gather. Tom and Peng have given me such a great head start with some of the time saving techniques and good principles they've taught me. I can't wait to do more.

In other footbag news, I've lost my Felix, my Lonn, and a Jacob Raye bag I'd just received as a gift... I left them behind me at a session, maybe because I thought someone was looking at them, maybe because I just left them behind. It really sucks. I've never straight up lost a bag before. I've had them stolen and kicked in holes, but never just lost like this... and 3 at once! My best bag ever, one that was waiting on being a best bag ever, and a brand new gift. How fucked up is that...

Sean, the guy here at school that bought lavers, is doing well, he can hit consecutive inside stalls, consecutive toe stalls, and around the world on one side. Yesterday, I played a barefoot session with my friend Bonetank, and he hit xbd pendulum, around the world, toe> ss butterfly, knee to knee stallburger, and best of all (this was so impressive, only took him 3 tries) toe stall> midair toe grab. I hope I can get him to play with me more, but he's got some pretty significant factors limiting his motivation, we'll see what happens. Fred Shred's getting some good response, I need to tighten things up with it, though, like pick a regular meeting time and get the rest of my registration card filled out. I guess those 2 things aren't a big deal. Just gotta take some email addresses.

Can't wait for Slap Hacker's thing this weekend!

damn man, that sucks that you lost those bags. Loosing bags are the worst thing ever. How many bags were you able to make out of the facile i gave you?

Chris, i have spring break that week too. thats actually my first weekend off. I think ill be able to make it, unless something crazy like my cars dies or something.

I asked Bonetank how he got his name, and he said he's named Bonetank because "a Bonetank is the most evil thing ever! it's a tank made entirely of bones and shoots flaming snakes and fire skulls! Evil! Evil! and it's the size of the greater buffalo area, and crushes everything, evil evil evil!"

I was able to make 3 footbags out of that facile, thanks josiah! one of them was good, even! I can't wait for my facile to come in, fields said it shipped on saturday by priority mail, so it should be here any day now! woo!!!

off to enjoy a bliff...

About the Geneseo Jam, you sbhould have it go from saturday - monday or something. So that me and pat can come once we get back from Washington. I would really love to shred in Geneseo again with you all. Is this doable?

I'm pretty sure we will be back friday or saturday... maybe sunday but i doubt it.

man its been a while since ive posted here, i dont know where to start so ill just post about this weekend.

im sitting here at an internet cafe on queen street in downtown toronto, it was a great weekend,

friday night, there was a party at my house and i left at about 11pm to head to toronto. i pulled into the city at about 2 am and went to a really awesome house music club and danced my ass off until 5 am.

i spent the day saturday relaxing and recovering from my late night, and at 8pm or so, skippy showed up and we shredded for about 3 hours. i dont think i hit anything new at that session and when we were finished we smoked a bit and then went to the pool to relax and stuff. i was still wearing my shred shorts and while skippy was changing i started playing on the pool deck and i was feeling really good and busting long guiltless strings, mostly bops but a few tripless links here and there. eventually i started working on blazing sets, and symp whirl. at that point i said to skippy that we should go back to the shred spot and we ended up kicking for another hour or so and i ended up hitting symp whirl and bling blang!

after relaxing in the hot tub for a little while, skippy headed out and i passed out.

sunday i woke up around noon and called jorden. i had called him the day before and he was actually in the city of toronto doing filming for a dvd (ask him about the details, its not my place to say what for.) so naturally by the evening he was too beat to play, so he said sunday, and i said fine.

jorden already had plans to play with taishi, who is a japanese exchange student studying in toronto for the year and he came down as well.

i picked them up at the train station around 5pm and we went back to my place to play.

jorden of course was ripping it up as usual, and taishi really impressed me with a lot of downtime concepts as well as ripwalks all over the place. eggbeaters, dlos, and pixies seemed really easy for him.

i played pretty well, decent string length and a lot of good different components. all ive really been working on per se has been smoothing out my style and lengthening my strings. i ended up hitting slapdown for the first time and a combo that i cant remember at this time. all in all it was a really fun session, and a really fun weekend. i spent yesterday and today recooperating and as soon as i finish browsing modified, im headed back to the ROC until i think friday when ill drive to fredonia, meet up with matt and head to this slap hack deeley.

footbag has been good despite the lack of sunday sessions. id like very soon for those to start up again, aric has been unavailable because of work and finals which are over now, and chris has been injured, so ive been solo sessioning and they've been going well but i miss playing with others, so this week has been a breath of fresh air.

cant wait for this weekend!!

Cool stuff paul glad you had a good time in Toronto. I think we should make that Geneseo jam happen not this weekend but next weekend like chris said. I think it should start saturday and go through monday or tuesday, I can skip a day or 2 of school. But im going to washington next week and I am going to try and shred there as much as I can during our school trip. (Epic hotel room shreds will be busted out hahhaa)

and it's finished! I couldn't take a good picture of it, they all turned out blurry, but it's my best one yet. I'm super pleased with it. I'm going to take some ritalin and make another one in a little while. Jake Raye told me the Chris Miller closing technique, and I really liked it. I thought it was really clean! I can't wait to make another one! The next will be a Rasta 32 for my friend. if he likes it, he can buy it, but he's kind of not expecting it, so if he doesn't I'll sell it to someone else. Stitch!

I am now more than halfway through MC10! it's turning out just like I like it, I took the lesh "blur" pattern (so named by Chris Miller), with green pents, marigold and red hexes.... I'll take a picture in a bit, and try and make it a good one. This is for bonetank, I hope he buys it. If not, I'm sure I can sell it this weekend. I love making bags... It's already making my arm sore, maybe I shouldn't overdo it...

The CM closing technique I used on the last bag, and will use on this next one, involves no blind stitch. You stitch the WHOLE bag inside out, but you leave the last edge or two extremely loose, like EXTREMELY loose. Then, you pull all the threads aside. Then, push the bag out of itself through past the last stitch on the last edge. This is slightly more difficult than pushing the bag through itself before the stitch is closed, but once you've got it outside out, fill it. Then, it's just like finishing a blind stitch, cinch it a little extra, knot it and burn off the knot, and pull along the edges of the last pent to pull the knot into the bag!

It looks much better than my blind stitch. It took a bit longer than blind stitching, but my blind stitching is still pretty unsure, and needs some practice. I'm going to take some junk panels, and practice blind stitching in the name of efficiency, but until I feel solid on that, I'm going to continue using the method I just mentioned in the name of good looking bags.

Back to stitching (i started this post so long ago, I can't believe I'm just finishing it)!

Cool method, Matt. I think I'll use the CM blind stitch method myself.
