Childhood Television

Post by full nelson »

I don't know what got me thinking about it, but I've been cruising the internet finding little clips from my favorite shows from when I was a kid. The ones I can remember off the top of my head are:

Masters of the Universe
G.I. Joe
Thundercats
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
The Tomorrow People: The Next Gen
Transformers
X-men
Salute Your Shorts
Flash Forward
Ghostbusters
Duck Tales
You Can't Do That on Television

I watched a lot of television as a child. It was usually my babysitter. What were some of your favs? Maybe you could jog my memory of some more that I liked.

I've been looking everywhere to find episodes of My Pet Monster with no real success. Animaniacs and Transformers was the show for me though.

I didn't see anyone mention HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!!! (I totally have so many action figures (Stinkor actually smells bad!), plus I have Castle Greyskull, and Snake Mountain, Battle Cat, that on battering-ram car, Man-At-Arms' thing...I think Rattler was the first toy I ever bought with my own money, and my mom is very fond of it and keeps it in my memory box!) All of these shows were so great.

I didn't see SKY COMMANDERS either. I don't remember the show too vividly, but the action figures were sweeeet. Dinosaucers too -- these were big when I was in Hong Kong, when I was, like, 7.

EDIT: I see Masters of the Universe in the first post now
Gargolyes is one of my favourites of all time. I have it all on DVD. I guess I'm a lot older, though, 'cause that wasn't really childhood as much.

...Samurai Pizza Cats and Dragonball (not Z)

its so funny how you can tell how old someone is by what shows they mention.

and WORD to anamaniacs!!! i TOTALLY forgot my favorite show! and family matters, and the cosby show. and jery springer, but thats a story for another day...

edit- what was the science show (not bill nye, the other one, with the big rat)

edit2- and i watched power rangers every single day until i was old enough to recognize that the plot was the same every single day. except for the one where the green ranger got under mind control....that one was always a bit nervy

How about power rangers or

CAPTAIN PLANET:

"EARTH!"
"FIRE!"
"WIND!"
"WATER!"
"HEART!"

"Go Planet!"

"By your powers combined, I am Captain Planet!"

Captain Planet, he's our hero
Gonna take pollution down to zero

He's our powers magnified
And he's fighting on the planet's side

Captain Planet, he's our hero
Gonna take pollution down to zero

Gonna help him put asunder
Bad guys who like to loot and plunder

"You'll pay for this Captain Planet!"

We're the Planeteers
You can be one too
'Cause saving our planet is the thing to do!

Looting and polluting is not the way
Hear what Captain Planet has to say!

"The Power is Yours!"
