Anyone like energy drinks?
I'm sitting here sipping a lo-carb Monster drink, and it's pretty damn good. I'd put it second to Tab extra(maybe because i like the can better), but yeah energy drinks are the sex.

i had one the other week called 'Hemp' It tasted pretty average i guess, but i try most energy drinks to see what they are like. It was green and yellow can with leaves all over it, with the slogan 'The natural high'

I prefer caffeine pills. A bottle of 100 x 200 mg pills is 8 bucks canadian. An energy drink is like 2 bucks + and all it really is is sugar, caffeine (150-250 mg) and sometime taurine (which you can also get cheaper on its own). Energy drinks are a huge waste of money but I do buy a couple for long road trips.

I have to agree that energy drinks are pretty expensive compared to pills. But if I had to choose, I'd have to go with the standard Red Bull. It's used for mixing drinks most of the time, really.

Where can I find those?Isaac Noyes wrote:Energy drinks are bad for the brain... just like pharmaceuticals. Cept, they do make a damn good mixer. Drink some yerba maté or some kombucha if want to feel awesome and energized all day.
I usually drink green tea to keep me alert and stuff. Only recently started drinking energy drinks, so I don't really know any cerebral effects it has. Could you follow up on that?

Yerba maté is a tea similar to green tea. It has more caffeine and antioxidants and is used by the Indigenous people of Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. It is traditionally drunk out of a gourd using a metal filter straw called a "bombilla". You can buy it online for cheap or at health food stores for a little more.nhancakes wrote:Where can I find those?

Kombucha is a little more interesting. The kombucha mushroom is a tea culture that you put into green, black or oolong tea and let ferment for about a week. In fact it isn't actually a mushroom, but a symbiotic relationship between a bacteria and a yeast. It looks like a big flat white disk, and is really slimy and smells like vinegar. To make kombucha you need to get a culture, some green tea and some sugar. You brew the green tea, put in the culture and add some sugar and wait for a week. Then you bottle it and let it sit for another week so it gets a little carbonated... SOOOOOO GOOOOD! The whole process takes about two weeks. But don’t forget about them! I make a 9-gallon batch and ended up with some MONSTERS. They were about a 14in across and 5-6in thick. When you drink it you instantly feel energized. Its an amazing feeling. Cures stomachaches as well.
Once you get a colony started you will get a new baby kombucha and can expand your operation, or throw it out, or make a salve out of it, which if you put onto cuts and scars will speed up healing time.
I was brewing kombucha for a while, but I got lazy recently and haven’t been doing it, although I mean to start again… so I don’t have any babies that I can send to people right now. I have a couple of friends who are brewing it though so I just need to get off my butt and do it. You can sometimes find babies on craigslist.org or you can order them online. When I first started brewing I got mine from: www.happyherbalist.com/ buuuuut… I think he over charges. Its much cheaper (cause its… FREE!) to get them from someone who has an extra baby that they would otherwise be throwing out.

You can also buy pre-made kombucha in health food stores. It used to be harder to find, but people are starting to get into it so there are more and more brands available.
It costs about the same as energy drinks I think. I'm not completely sure though because I don't really every buy energy drinks...
I still think its a rip off though, but thats only because I've brewed my own in the past.
Oh... oh... oh... you can also make flavored kombucha. My Mom makes the best ginger kombucha I've ever tasted. If anybody wants to know how to do make it once they get colonies lemme know (or I could post it on a forum too...).
PS. If you buy the pre-made kombucha and let it sit for 2-3 weeks (or maybe longer, I lost count of mine) it will grow its own mushroom culture. All you have to do for this to work is open it up, and put a coffee filter with a rubber band over the top and leave it out in the open (not in the sun). This would be better if you got a lot of the pre-made and put it into a large glasss container (gallon size or something comprable). That way you can have enough starter and a culture for your next batch made with tea.
I hope everything I've written makes sense... if it doesn't just let me know and I can clarify.

If you guys are gonna try taking yerba or this kombucha stuff just take Lipo 6 or other thermogenic supplements. It sounds like you might like ephedra, too bad its banned :p

Ah. I wouldn't try any diet kind of pills. Overall, they work, but you have no idea what they are doing to you now or later. They aren't approved by the FDA or whatever it is. And from my experience, they scared the crap outta me one day. My heart started palpitating (beating really fast), and I felt like I couldn't breathe right, and I got all sweaty. It was weird. Kinda scary. I tried them once and won't again.

Dood... lipo 6 still doesn't sound that cool. Its just like taking some energy drink thats all full of synthetic crap that isn't good for you. I rather just sip on some maté or kombucha and be done with it. I like kombucha because I know what goes into it, because I am part of the process. That and its super not-expensive, and I don't like eating things with chemicals in them I can't pronounce... not to mention that if diatary supplements are banned its usually for a reason.
Also maté and kombucha aren't used to burn fat, I suppose that you *could* use them for that, but I like them because they help my ADD/dyslexia and make me feel nice. I have heard of someone drinking too much kombucha though... but they were drinking a lot of it every day.
