Anybody on here play the didge? I taught myself how to play in highschool and have been playing ever since (sometimes more than others) about 5 years.

That depends on how much you are looking to spend... They range from really cheap PVC ones that you can make to over $1000 for the hand panted really nice wood ones. I got a decent quality eucalyptus one mailed from Australia for $60 or something like that with shipping included.

If you are interested and want to try it out I would make one out of PVC. All you need to do is get a length of 2" or 1.5" PVC (the key the didge will be in depends on the length) and some beeswax for a mouthpiece. All you gots to do is make a snake out of the wax by warming it up in your hands or with a lighter and put it around one end of the tube. The sound you get from a PVC didge is very hollow, but they are good to learn with.

You probably won't be able to play for very long at first before having to take a breath, but if you practice learning to circular breath isn't that hard. And it will make your lungs strong!

Geeze... there is really nobody on modified that plays the didgeridoo? I find that very surprising.

Austin is a pretty hippie town and I don't know anyone who plays it here come to think of it.

Actually Brandon from the band Incubus way back in the day (before they changed their sound to what they are now, think what you want) played the didge at shows. I saw them back in summer 1998 and this guy with dreadlocks comes out and starts playing this huge horn and I am like WTF is this shit? Then the rest of the band came out and rocked everyone's asses off... 3 days later I went out and bought S.C.I.E.N.C.E., that was a great album.

If you wanna hear some sick didge playing check out Xavier Rudd. He is amazing. I saw him play at power to the peaceful in San Francisco.

Didges are fun. my friend bought one at a festival a few years back. hahah our neighboors were soooo pissed off when he started playing the didge at like 10am haha. One of my other friends just picked up a nice eucalyptus one while he was in australia. I can do a couple different sounds. id like to be able to circular breath but thats way hard

S.C.I.E.N.C.E is one of my favorite albums of all time. Fungus Among us is a really good album by them too
