recommendations for modding my shoes.

Here are my shoes:

I kind of want to color these shoes something else, but I don't know if it will be very effective with the color of my shoes right now. I might try the Broka mod (sp?) but what else could I do?

With my financial situation of paying off 5 AP tests and all, I just don't have the money to buy a new pair of shoes.

And I don't have the inclination to buy lavers anyhow.

shoes that arent right for footbag shouldnt even be modded.
if you really wanna do footbag, you should at least want to get lavers.

i guess if your dieing to do a mod, maybe cut that shit out of the tongue, and stitch it back together, so the bag wont bounce off it. a broka probably wont do much. how is your clipper anyways?

if your trying to color them, good luck. blue is hard to get another color except black or purple.
use red dye for purple, black for black .

you could bleach them, then dye or sharpie them.

but whatever.

get lavers. theyre worth modding

The tongue of the shoe is connected to the sides of the shoe. It's like a slipper. I already know of other shoes that are just as good, maybe better than lavers for footbag, for instance I'd rather go for climacools.

I have flat feet, and I've had knee problems in the past, and from what I've heard about Lavers' support, I'm not very fond of them. I've been running with these shoes for a couple of years, and I haven't had problems with this pair. There's no use in wanting something that won't cater to my own personal preferences. Last I've checked, I haven't seen any lavers around locally to try on, so I don't want to throw in 50 dollars to order a pair of shoes that could not be very beneficial to my own health.

If I really want to play footbag (which I do), I'd be concerned about my own health first.

My clipper is still weak. I can't do it consecutively, but I've only been trying the move for a couple of weeks. That's why I haven't really tried the broka mod yet.

yeah i mean lavers are sweet shoes but plenty of people use climas to if u dont feel comfortable buying lavers dont get yourself some climas.

hey, i dont think they look all that bad at all.

mod them any way you want, as long as you're not doing things that are worthless. if you are making a surface more flat, like your instep or the toe, use common sense and make a good surface for the bag to land on

anyways, they look pretty decent already, toe looks good in my opinion, i wouldnt bother with that little leather unless its easy to get off, catch the bag higher towards your ankle anyway...

instep looks like its not ideal, so cut away anything that isnt the base mesh/ woven layer (for example all plastic or leather on your instep)

leave a consistent flat side on each instep and fashion the toe box to be thin and encompassing.

lavers arent always 50 bucks. i got mine for 30. look on ebay, or around modified for ppl sellin em. like lon smith (last i saw). climas are hard to find. real hard. you gotta get clima 1s, the rest dont work well for footbag. plus, climas are usually like 70 bucks.

so price diff, preference diff, all that stuff, aside

id try climas. but lavers are more accessible.

theres alot of leather on the side of your shoe. id remove that. but its not me.
i had etnies, and modded em. they were a start. but no where near as good as lavers are.

plus, if your knees are a problem. you can get spenco insoles(i hear theyre the best), like for runners shoes.

I'd like to take out the leather on the side, but it looks like it's all connected and holding the shoe together. I'll see what I can do though.

Wow, I've removed bunch of the leather on the instep of the shoe and my stalls are already easier. Photobucket is down, but I'll post pics as soon as i can.

I reaaally wouldn't take those apart if they are your only shoe

I just picked up my last pair of lavers for $13. It's all in the buy man.

If you mod those, you may destroy em...

eek too late. I already started taking them appart before I started this thread. They used to have stripes running down both sides of the shoe and i took all of them out. and I took out this patch in the middle of the toe box that was meant for normal lacing.

Lavers make for good running shoes. I use them for running to class each and every day, and haven't experienced problems yet.

And they're pretty choice for footbag if you don't mind smaller annoyances to their structure.

It's just that there's no traction for Lavers when the sole wears a bit (new even). A can of hairspray will cure that problem with ease, albeit temporarily. When for footbag, go with Lavers for a safe and healthy bet. If not, G-units for the traction and elevation of the heel.

For me, lavers are the worst running shoes I've ever experience. 100 meters in these things and my feet are killing.

my lavers are for everyday wear. xcept in the rain(like now). ive never had a problem walking or running in them . just make sure your shoes fit i guess. if not, it may be a problem. you can always add insoles.

I might try to use that silcone caulking stuff to even out the bottom of the instep. And then just spray paint the soles gold and use paint pens to accent the shoe. Good thing spring break is coming up.
