Getting paid to shred

Why is it that an intermediate like me can be booked for an event and be getting paid 150$, when all over the world people are having so much trouble finding ways to make their passion profitalbe?

I've never gotten paid for an event but I kicked for a lot of charity events.

I got paid 20$ to do a halftime show at a highschool varsity basketball game. I played for about 2 mins tops , pretty good deal

A man with his family once offered me some money and I refused, because I didn't want to show Footbag as a street performing game.

But if someone would book me for a show and paid me, I would probably accept.

Yeah my highschool is wicked small, and it was the coach of the varsity club who gave me the money out of his pocket. He wanted to show everyone what footbag was about. 20$ aint bad for doing what I love and only for 2 minutes

At Ozzfest 2004, some guy set out a cup for us. Megan and I made about 12 dollars within an hour and a half.

Let me reiterate....150$ for maaaybe 5 minutes of work. I'll be on stage for 10 minutes max, but I'll be taking turns with breakdancers and other performers.

hackrifice get paid for demos on occasion, but the checks always bounce or the fucker disappears

I've done 2 demos this month and have 1 next month - probably that's about standard. It's about promoting yourself and getting contacts - not waiting for things to happen. Typically I ask for $300 per demo but it often tends to be negotiated down. I wouldn't do one for less than $100 unless I thought I could either build something out of it or it was for somebody who I had a good relationship with. - edit or it was very short. I do fairly regular 5 minute demos at a local pub where i get paid $75 approx for the demo plus cheap beer - that's fine with me.

Its all about connections and self promotion. After you get finished shredding at an event, go talk to lots of people and see if they are interested in having you perform at thier event. Build a web of interested promoters and events will eventually start falling in your lap.

i sorta get paid to shred. my job is front desk operator. so when the buildings is empty, or noones around (which happens all the time) i shred. so 7.50 an hour to shred for however long i can take it, or someone comes in.

exactly. other than the actual pool being there, my pool deck is great for shredding. great grip...in fact, so much that i cant comfortably spin.
so yeah..i guess im technically a pro.

I've understood it so that the Czech government sponsors the CFA, i.e. pays flights and stuff.
