Hell I guess I'll make a footblog!

Post by Tim »

All right, here we go! Yeah! Getting right into it! Woo! Man I'm pumped!

It's 6 in the morning over here and I really need to sleep. When it gets this late I frequently ask myself, "Why did I stay up so damn late?!?". And I really have no answer to that.

So before I head to sleep I made this footblog thing which I plan to update regularly. I guess I started kicking four years ago in circles at highschool. Started to become aware of the freestyle aspect about two years back but just fooled around with it since about six months ago.

Now I plan on getting really into it. I just love this damn game! I have been kicking with the same shoes for the past year. The shoes I wear all the time. I never really paid attention to my footwear and couldn't believe that it mattered THAT much. Then I started reading about the lavers and these other shoes and I'm like hmmm. But I decided to stick with my 15 dollar wal-mart shoes because they couldn't be that bad...

Or could they! Over the past six months, I haven't improved at all and I'm talking about 2/3 add moves here. So last week I was walking around the house in my slippers. (My slippers are actually a pair of Uggs I found while dumpster diving at a local college.) I take out my footbag while heading to the kitchen just to see how much worse I would be in these things. I pull off two clippers in a row! You have to understand that I usually only pull off one out of three clippers and I've never been able to do more than one in a row. Now I just did two in a row on my first shot! So I try some more clippers. I do a nice clean clipper and catch it. I try again, I hit it again. I try again, I hit another one. I'm thinking, "What the hell is going on here!?!?".

After looking at some pictures in the "Post your shoes" topic and experiencing a better kick with fucking UGGS on, I am now finally aware of how "bad" my shoes really are. And about an hour ago I ordered a pair of lavers.

I can't wait to get these shoes! It just started being more "spring-ish" around here and I'm psyched about having a full day of just kicking with them. I was hoping that they are good as running shoes too but I came across a post that says not for long distance. I guess I'll have to invest in a new pair of running shoes separately. DAMN.

I've been looking at all the posts about modding lavers. Since this is my first pair I might just keep them as they are. Just do the lacing mod. Arg I gotta look more into this.

I can't type coherently anymore, I'm heading to sleep. But expect a lot more posts and some major improvement.

Ugh!

Anyway, always cool to see new blogs!

Your Laver story sounds familiar. I started kicking in Gola sport shoes that were the hype back then but I soon realised that they were total crap for inside stalls.

In fact I think I've hardly EVER hit a clipper before I got my Lavers, so props to you son! Who knows, imagine you've been fearless for months but didn't know because your shoes suck :) .

I stayed away from all modifications other than the lacing mod too. If you decide not to cut out its intestins you might find that you have to wear thin/no socks to make up for that little 'bag feel' you loose due to the layer of canvas.

Good luck dude and keep us posted on the glorious arrival of the shoes!

Hey Thanks Wim! I can't wait for these damn shoes. I should have them by Friday. Yeah all I'm gonna do with these is the lacing mod, I gotta find out which one though because I do believe there is a couple. Also thanks for the sock advice! I'll have to experiment a little bit.

Hey man! I'm either in Derby, Shelton, West Haven, or Bridgeport for school. I'm car-less at the moment but if you can make it down here we can shred for the whole day. I THINK Brookfield to here is 40 minutes. Have to check though, get back to me!

Whaaaaaaaaat.

So I'm still using these crappy shoes until I get my lavers (which I should have before the weekend). Anyway I managed to pull off some stuff today for the first time.

I did three same side clippers in a row.
About 5 osis (osii? haha) not in a row but back to back. In a row would be sick.
Aaaaaaand a ducking clipper from a left clipper set. I've never even been able to set the bag higher than my waist from a clipper and now I get it over my head!

I think what I was doing different today was turning my waist more. I could really feel the tightness in my waist after I did those clippers.

Well anyway I'll update tomorrow! Thanks for reading!
