I honestly never thought I'd get to be as good as I am now and with that in mind it makes me wonder what I can achieve because if I didn't know this was possible, what else is?

I want to be one of the best one day, I have the drive and I won't stop trying.

All I want is to keep steadily improving. That will make me happy. I'm happy with how I shred now, and I have no concrete goals. I make short term goals, and when I acheive those I set myself more.

I'm with James and Tom on this one. Having known what footbag really is, I want to keep myself at a steady pace without much rush to improving. I make short goals that allow me to comfortably advance to a fulfilling style in the future.

However, like Tom, I do have a small driving voice in me saying that I want to be one of the best in the world. If not, someone worthy to be known in the freestyle world. Make a name for myself, even if it's regionally small. I still feel like I'm a long way there, but I know I can make the journey. I have the dedication. Even with me slacking off like I am right now. :P

I'd be happy with a constant steady improvement. I'll be happy with good guiltless strings. But I thought atw would be fine when I just started, lol.

I really like what Matt posted about footbag. I feel the sameway. I get discouraged sometimes and think I'm just going to hurt myself and not improve, but I'll have an amazing session and regain a lot of lost drive.

My only actual goal in footbag that matters is that I want to play footbag until I can be satisfied with my level of play and my style and then just stop playing regularly and let another hobby take over. At that point it's just tournies and hanging out with all of the great friends I will have made over the years. :)

I wanna get as good as i can get. Train hard, shred hard, meet new friends through footbag, thats all that counts for me.

I just want to be good enough to be considered 'one of the best in the world', which means I guess capable of getting top 10 or 20 at the moment, and as the sport expands so will the number of 'one of the best in the world'.

I want be able to play choreographed routine to every single song. And play it droples.

That's what you need to be real PRO, show off on big events, be on air.

If I will be able to play perfectly to the music, dropless, and I will be able to play 5 routine in 20 minutes on this constant level, and please the crowd I will say - I'm good.

Really hard question.

I don't have any goals in relation to other people. If tomorrow 500 kids in Hobart turned up all of which were as good as Vasek, I wouldn't be annoyed at being the 501st best player in Hobart - in fact I'd be stoked and I think the same philosophy applies on less extremes. ie. I really appreciate seeing players who are more skilled than I am and I'm really stoked seeing people improve and go from being ok to being really good. I don't usually feel like I want to be a better player than another particular person.

I guess I want to get to a level where I don't feel like my body is holding me back from what I want to hit - where I can truely be free to express myself through footbag. I guess that will never happen but I think that's a good thing since I'll always be pushing myself to get better. I think all of my achievable goals in the sport are in relation to the organisation of footbag as a sport - which I think is way more important than my personal abilities and is why I spend way more time working on that then I do on actually playing these days.

Wow.. Great responses everyone. Thanks!! :-)

Now, don't forget the other part of the question. Do you think anything (yourself? work? other?) is keeping you from realistically getting to where you want to be? Or are you right on track?

For my answer.. Once I wanted to be good enough to be that "flowy shredder with cool links" that occasionally would make a vid clip. Sadly, I never got there (did make one clip by Thomass, but I think that's mostly because he thinks I'm a nice guy not because I shredded hard enough). Grad school, family, work, and overall tiredness kept me from making it there >> a.k.a. not enough will power to overcome the tiredness (i.e. it's my own damn fault).

Now though, my goals have changed a lot. No longer am I interested in going bigger and bigger or being video worthy etc. but more on taking care of mastering what I've already started. It's ridiculous to say that I can't hit weak side smear at will. There are other examples. And I want to do it smoooooth. In the end, I want creative links of tricks that don't hurt my body and will be fun to play to music and fun to watch for others. If I get there, I'll reevaluate. Until then, I need to keep doing what I'm doing now which is playing 2-3 times per week and mixing in some drills with keeping-it-fun type of shredding.

For me, my goal is to have a solid dropless game (duh) but with my own style. Specifically, I have always wanted to be the double dex master. I'm getting consistency with tiltless now, but want to do shit like
Barrage > Double Down > Barfly > PDX Barrage > DBL Switch etc., then throw some sets in there, and grow in that direction.

That's my goal. However, the only solid Guiltless player I can play with in person so far is Adam Greenwood, who has a keen style but doesn't do many double dexes. Time to watch Anz' Trikz again. :)

I was totally happy with my game where it was. SO happy.
I had moments before I considered myself good-enough-for-myself where I was like, "When I can do this I will be happy" -- two things stick out, ripwalk > ripwalk and torque. I'm completely happy, even if I can never play again due to some serious injuries, with my game and what I've accomplished.

I would just like to keep progressing at a steady rate, learn lots of different concepts and cool links. O ya and both sides...my flispide is slackin in some areas. Ill keep pushing myself as hard as i can, hopefully be able to shred tripless someday but thats a FAR ways off. Id like to be guiltless by the end of the year which isnt too unrealistic. Mostly i just want to keep having as much fun as i already am and more.

I didn't have much goals when I first started. I was just having fun, I guess.
I'm happy with the situation now. I've hit many trick-goals like Triple Around The World and Nemesis.

My next goal is to be the best.
And to get a sponsor.
And to do a lot of shows and demos.

And no-one can stop me!

I want to bust like Vasek. I don't think that's ever going to happen, but that's not going to stop me from playing 3-4X a week for the rest of my life. :D
