I kicked for a little bit with Kyle and Dane today after gymnastics practice. It was pretty tiring, but it was more of a fun, relaxed session.

Some highlights:
legover x 28
flipside ss clipper x 22
strongside ss clipper x 51
ducking clipper x 6

I was also hitting some really long guiltless/tiltless runs with 4s thrown in all over the place. Then, we tried to find a song that we can maybe use for the V-Show thing, but we weren't very successful. If any of you guys have any ideas, we would appreciate it. We have a few songs already, but we're not sure which one to go with. The choices are Swing Set by Jurassic 5, Clubbed to Death from The Matrix, Sliding by Dzihan and Kamien, and Right Here, Right Now by Fatboy Slim. We might end up having to use live music, but hopefully not.

I just shredded with Dane and Jon for about 1.5 hrs and it was a really good session! Dane was hitting really long tiltless strings with 3s and 4s thrown into the mix! I'm really impressed with how much better he's gotten in the past few weeks! Jon was hitting some really stylie runs too!

Highlights:
diving clipper > ducking clipper > rpt > run
drifter midrun
drifter > osis > ducking clipper > ducking clipper > run
spinning osis > run
blizzard > run

I can do stepping sets pretty easily on my flipside now, so my game has expanded a lot lately! My strings have gotten a lot longer, but I still add far legovers though! I really should work on changing them to pdx mirages or pdx illusions. That's for the next session! :)

I've kicked with Dane and Jon the last 2 days and it's been amazing! I've noticed that as I seem to get better, I love footbag more and more! I remember when I first started out that I would get easily discouraged and lose patience with a move if I didn't at least get really close to it within a few tries. Nowadays, if I can't get a move or a combo and I am somewhat close to it, I spend as much time as is needed to hit that move or combo. It's not really frustrating either; it's just more rewarding when I eventually hit my goal. Lately, this has been happening to me a lot! Out of nowhere, I get ideas of various combos or moves, and I'm surprised that it doesn't take me too long to hit them or at least get really close to hitting them.

Also, I've noticed that even though I shred harder than ever, it's easy shredding for long periods of time! Even if I'm tired, I keep pushing myself to shred for a little bit longer. I think that this is going to benefit me greatly in the future by increasing my stamina and strength. I've also been hitting moves and combos that I never thought I would. Back in the day, when I first started out with footbag, hitting long runs with ripwalks, ducks, dives, blurs, etc was unimaginable. I had always thought that I would never reach the point where I would be able to do long combos, let alone ones which include hard moves (hard moves for me!). Sunday, for example, Jon was trying to hit a stepping move out of a spinning clipper and gave me the idea to try that, since I had never stepped out of a spinning clipper before. I was astonished that on my first try, I hit spinning clipper > blur! It was such a great feeling knowing that I hit something completely new to me on my first try!

I am also really happy that Dane and Kyle are into footbag as much as I am! Dane has been recently shredding with me almost everytime I have asked him to! Just yesterday, he hit symposium whilr within a few attempts and hit his first ever flipside spinning clipper. On Sunday, he hit gyro butterfly within a few tries as well. Both Kyle and Dane can now consistently do long tiltless runs with the occasional 3 and 4 add move thrown in! I have so much fun when I'm kicking with Kyle, Dane, Jon, Jeff, and Chris! I really hope that all these good things continue to last for a long, long time!

Anyway, the point of that long rant was that I love footbag! :)

Last night, I kicked with Dane, Jeff, Chris, Jon, and Jake. It was an amazing session! I took my videocamera with me so I'll be able to post a small video of it! At first, when we started kicking, we formed 2 circles because there were 6 of us. So, I started filming some people after everyone was warmed-up. But as soon as I put the camera down for my turn, I hit phoenix > ps whirl!! That's my first ever 5 > 5 combo! It felt pretty easy and I thought it looked clean! Unfortunately, even though I tried a lot, I couldn't get it on video.

I also had lots of runs with both sides stepping and my flip pixie sets have gotten a lot better too! Even though I can't do a flip pixie set midrun consistently, I can start a lot of my runs with something like smear or pixie legover. I was just messing around near my house and I got close to flip phoenix, so hopefully, that will be something that I'll hit in the near future. I only got about 30 minutes of footbage last night, so the video won't be as long as I had wanted it to be, but it still should be pretty good!

Anyway, that's it for now! More to come later! :)

Haven't posted in a week...but it was a busy week. My gymnastics season started about 3 weeks ago and last week, I had 3 meets! They all went great though; my team won everything so far! So far, I won a trophy and a 2nd place medal for pommel horse, so I'm really happy about that! :)

Footbagwise, I didn't have a chance to shred too much because of all the meets and tests in school that I had last week, but Kyle, Dane, and I met and planned out our routine that we're auditioning for the school's V-Show! We're gonna kick to the song "Right Here, Right Now" by Fatboy Slim and the whole routine's gonna last about 4-5 minutes.

I've also worked on my basics a little bit. Apparently, I can do illusions pretty easily, so blizzard has become pretty easy on my strongside and I'm really close to hitting it on my flipside. DOD has also become really easy for me lately. I think I'm gonna go back to skool all my basics for a while and make my foundation more solid. Anyway, that's all for now!

Well, today, Dane and I are auditioning for the V-Show (unfortunately, Kyle could not get out of his sport on the nights of the V-Show). We decided to change the song to "Sliding" by dzihan and kamien (it's the song from the GFO video). Anyway, hopefully it should all go well because we really planned the routine out and it should be unique from everyone else.

Wish us luck!

Well, if anyone was wondering, Dane and I made it into the V-Show! 8) I haven't had a chance to kick since our audition, but I should be able to get in a good amount this weekend.

The V-Show is around the middle of April. I don't know if we'd be able to shred afterwards (assuming you guys come) because the show is from 7:00 to 9:00 at night. Plus, I play in the pit band as well...it would be great if you guys came by though! :)

Anyway, I've been shredding quite a bit lately. I haven't really been trying to learn anything new; I'm just trying to link all the moves that I already know. I can do decent guiltless runs now, which I'm really happy about, and I've been using far legovers much less frequently now. I've also learned pdx illusions, so I've been replacing some of the far legovers into pdx illusions. Somehow, my flip stepping has gotten harder, so I'm planning on drilling that some more; but these days, I can hit ripwalk > ripwalk within a few tries.

I find that I'm really motivated these days because I've been watching a lot of the videos I have saved onto my computer and also some of the recent ones that were posted online. The people in these videos make me want to get really good and I'm glad for that because it is a way that I can push myself as hard as I can. Although extracurricular activities and schoolwork have been taking up a lot of my time, I still want to spend my free time shredding. I'm also really excited about performing at the V-Show; the show plays 3 nights and we should probably get close to about 600 people total. Dane and I would be exposing a lot of people to footbag, so we want to do our best!

Last Sunday, Eric Siegel and Kevin Stewart came down to shred with Jon, Jeff, Chris, and me. It was really fun! I was really impressed with the way Eric played. Maybe it's because I'm so used to just playing with Jon, Jeff, and Chris, but Eric's smooth style and bothsidedness was just amazing! I remember playing with him more than a year ago (I didn't really get a chance to kick with him at the NYJ this year) and he seemed like a completely different person (in a good way ). The most impressive thing about Eric was his bothsidedness and his ability to hit hard moves and hard links. Kevin also was playing pretty well; he started out a little slowly, but he soon got his combos rolling. He also has a really smooth style. Playing with new people really kicked me in the butt. I was disappointed with how I played that day and realized that I need to get so much better in order to play in the same circle as some people. Hopefully, this motivation I have right now will continue to last for a long time; things are looking positive!

Anyway, that's about it for now...oh yeah, Spring Break next week!!! That means lots of shred! Look out for more posts!

Reiles got gigs of old video that most people will probably never see :? Video editing can be a pain in the ass, though... watching that same clip over and over and over and over and over...

When I tried to edit vids it was by vcr and marking time points and crap. Nowadays if you upload it then its easy to edit if you have the right program. Krafty says he lost the plugin? for his program so it doesnt work- someone help him and send Krafty a good video editing program :)

I don't know about that dude, your game looked really great to me. So much more intense and consistent than last time I saw you. I really felt bad you had to leave so early especially 'cause we arrived sorta late. Plus you missed out on my 5-5-5 second attempt :D

Anyways I think I have a pirated copy of Adobe Premiere Pro around my house somewhere, but seeing as I'm off to school now I wouldn't be able to get it to you 'til summer begins. So keep that in mind if you don't get a decent program soon.

btw, Jon that sounds horrible, editing videos by VCR. Adobe is soooo easy to use. Anyways I'm back to school now. Happy shredding!

Thanks for the kind words Eric. I already have Adobe and other various video editing programs. It's just that the cord that connects my camera to my computer isn't working for some reason. Once I fix that, I can edit the videos!

It was really nice out today and I just had a nice session outside. It was a solo session where I was just trying to make my tricks more consistent. A pleasant surprise was that I can do paradons pretty easily (using my flip dod). I'm still having difficulty with my flip dod though; it's a lot harder than paradon. Now, I can paradon bs and dod on my strongside. I also was hitting ripwalk > ripwalk pretty consistently although I'm always starting with my flip ripwalk. It's a lot harder the other way, but I'm planning on skooling that this week. I got close to ripwalk > blur a couple of times and I messed around with my spinning for a bit. Ducking/diving was consistent as always. I might have another session later, but I'm not completely sure.

Just had another quick session outside.

Almost had drifter bsos a couple of times.

Got close to paradon > barfly a couple of times.

Good stuff!
