Today's session was somewhat decent, just drills. I hope that doing this form of session every day will increase my ability to push myself more each day. To be honest, the session could've been a little more. But I think it's mainly due to the toughness of just basic moves with my flip. Anyway, this was it:

Warm up with alternating inside kicks.
Warm up with alternating inside stalls.

All Flipside
20 Mirages
20 Illusions
20 Inside
20 Clippers
20 Clipper Mirages
20 Butterflies

As easy as that looks, it's fairly tiring for me, but again with practice I'll be able to blow today's session away. Most importantly, I used the session to drill what I needed most, so I accomplished what I set out to do. Tomorrow I hope to tack on some infinities and osii at the end, as well as a 5-10 minute cool-down shred incorporating those moves.

I've decided I'm not going to post minimal progress in here. I just don't think anyone wants to read how I hit 20 or 30 flipside mirages haha. So I'll just post if I had a fun session or something groundbreaking happened.

Today I played outside again. 67 degrees in the winter, gotta love it huh? Thanks Bush, I really appreciate you fucking up the planet so bad that it's a sunny warm day in January. No really, thanks.

So yeah, I played outside and had a decent session, people walkin up and going wow, this one guy said he used to footbag, and busted out some moves in work shoes. That was cool. Then an older guy came up and hacked with me and said he'd been hacking for 20 years! I had a lot of fun though, and hit some cool clipper to clipper stuff, some infinities, and felt more comfy with left today. That's about it.

uhm they weren't boots, more like work loafers. But he basically did a toe stall>inside>clipper. That was kinda it. He didn't sit there and try and play in the shoes. He said he still had his lavers though and may come out and play when the weather's nicer.

Here's a beginner vid of me in September, very early in my game. It's really a joke vid, and it's almost not worth posting. But I put it up because in a few weeks I'm going to make a new vid and it will be a huge contrast, and really show my improvement over the past several months. It takes forever to download, about 5-15 min depending on connection speed. It's pretty funny though!

word up

Post by hippiedan »

Chris!

Word up man! Damn, you've come a long way since the summer! That's awesome. I'm finally back down in New Orleans, and it feels good to be home. I started kicking everyday again, and I'm going to have to keep it up if I ever plan on visiting DC again.... You hit a ducking butterfly? Straight killa, my man. I've been going tiltless now, but my repetoir of moves is rather small.

Anyways, good to read about what you have been up to.
Peace and Smiles, my man, I'll be sure to give you a call next time i'm up in DC.

Nice corn rows dan!! Are you wrestling a plastic snowman??

Okay, well been workin on some good stuff. Flipside concepts, mixed in with some mid-string clipper>opp clippers. I've found that working on those two things is slowly strengthening my game. So the other day, I skooled flipside drifter, and got it! Yesterday and today I've been skooling flip whirl, and got that! Whirl was much harder I must say. I probably footed it like 50 times today alone. Pretty pumped about the progress though.

I'm going to be updating the first page with these additions, as well as keep track of my current focus records which are clipper>opp clipper, infinity, and I'm probably gonna add a consecutive flip clipper record on there as well.

 Okay, I also cleaned the first page up a little so the first post will be where the move list and records are. That way people don't have to read my life story to check quick progress. If you DO want to read my life story, it's in the next post :P Now it's time to relax and relish the new flipside add 3s!

ALL MOVE UPDATES POSTED ON FIRST POST

ALL MOVE UPDATES/RECORDS POSTED ON FIRST POST

Couple new things the past couple of days, spinning clipper bs and pogo mirage bs. Eh, probably not going to progress too much into the symp world right now, just wanted to see if I could hit it. More interested in skooling my spinning/ducking clippers. Also just trying to stay focused on flipside which has progressed immensely, and work on developing more bsos strings. So far the quest seems to be coming along nicely, and I'm happy about where I am right now. I'd say my flipside is at about 60% of that of my strong, which is huge compared to where I was.

I searched through old emails, and it appears my first time starting to learn freestyle was in mid-May, and I got my lavers at the beginning of June. That means I've been playing for about 8 months or so. My goal is to be approaching guiltless within the next 4 months, at my one-year mark. I think if I continue on the path that I'm on, that's a reasonable goal. In about a month or so I'm going to really focus on skooling BOP shred.

Edit: I'll put this in here cuz it's reflective of today's session. Just drilled infinity and beat my previous consecutive of 1, by hitting 3 in a row. Really starting to feel that infinity rythym.

</end session>

ALL MOVE UPDATES POSTED ON FIRST POST

Post by shredzilla »

Well, it's been a month since my last post, and I'm getting tired of searching the pages for my blog, so BUMP!

The past 3 days have been so nice outside, so I've been playing at Dupont Circle park. I've been playing like crazy and afer today's session my legs are just plain not working anymore. But, I've made some progress, so that's good, and I'll probably take tomorrow off. Saturday a random guy came through the park and I taught him how to stall, he did toe and inside stall.

Both Saturday and Sunday I got huge props from all the people that watched me play. This one busload of tourists saw me play and that was fun, this one guy was like 'I bet you pick up a lot of chicks doing this!' I was like, 'Yeah of course, all chicks love footbag!" Haha. I basically worked mostly on tiltless strings, osis, and infinity. I was hitting some fairly long tiltless strings, between 7-10 contacts a lot of times. Man, I didn't realize how hard it is to actually hit 10 tiltless contacts until I started counting. Osis is coming along great, and I'm finally able to work it into my strings about 70% of the time, and hit it from just clipper about 85% of the time. I have the infinity dance down, but clearing my windows has been tough. It's coming along though.

Sunday this asian girl came up and was really impressed, so she tried it and hit toe>toe! That was fun, got it on my cel phone camera. See, I told you you can pick up chicks with footbag! I think she had a bf though :x

Today I had a decent session after work, and the high point was hitting ducking pdx mirage bs, at which point my legs were falling off and I had to go home. I figured it was cool to end the past 3 days on a good note. It's gonna go back down into the low 50's, so I'm gonna take the next day or two off. Had an awesome time this weekend improving my game though :)

Yeah, chicks dig footbag Chris! Strut your stuff! Screw her bf man, because you got the skillz to show her the ropes.

But definitely, great progress you're having my good man. Maybe I should visit DC coming Spring Break? Summer even? Can't wait for the weather to get warmer!

Hey Chris you're progressing SOO fast! Props!

I'm gonna be visiting Washington this summer... Maybe we could get together?

I'll only have a few days there, but one day is completley free? Maybe you wanna get together?

I'll have to check with my schedule As I get closer to the trip. I think DC is on Aug 3-4. Possibly.

Bloggggggg BLOOOGGG

Okay, well I'm actually really pumped about today's session. Chris Holden moved to a suburb of DC about half an hour away, so we made plans for me to drive down there and shred Sunday.

'You know you're addicted to footbag...' when you wake up hungover and still drive half an hour to shred with some guy you've never met just cuz you've been soloing for like 8 months. So yeah, kinda partied Saturday, kinda paid for it Sunday, but man I had an awesome time shreddin.

First off, Chris is an awesome freestyler with a really cool unique style. Lots of eclipsy-type moves, reverse whirls, wontomic? Sick stuff. Really cool, slow, fluid style much like Peter Irish who he's apparently highly influenced by because he also juggles and said that he got into that cuz of Pete.

Obviously because of my somewhat sore state of being, I wasn't busting super-huge, but let me just say this was one of the most productive sessions I've had in a long time. Chris skooled me on double downs and I hit paradon like 5 times! SO PUMPED. Footed swirl like a bunch of times, and I've never really even skooled either move.

The shred spot was tight, lots of families and kids in this kind of suburban oasis. He had this wild 8 panel sandbag that was awesome even though it was like 3-4 times as big as most 32 panels. It stalled like a dream, although the sets felt a tad sluggish with it. But learning moves with that bag was sooooo cool, and I had some decent long tiltless strings as wel as some good ol bop ones too.

So pumped I got to play with someone today, and it looks like we'll be shreddin it up a lot more. Chris has apparently gotten a lot of the staff at his new ino footbag too. Good times!

props on the paradon Chris! Way to go! I just started hitting swirl myself last week (actually rev swirl, but whatever), it's a fun trick! Keep at it, hit me up in chat or with a PM if you want some tips.

Anyway, glad to hear you are progressing and now have a shred buddy. Hope the new loc is good. Are you in VA or MD? Keep updatin' this blog and keep hammerin' away with that left foot!

Yay! Found my blog! After like 5 minutes of searching the first 3 pages...

Okay, since last entry I've played off and on, haven't had a chance to play with Chris Holden yet, but did get to shred with my two buds the Cleaver and Josh Bizzle. We always have an awesome time just crackin jokes and hangin out, but the shred was cool too. I was hittin some decent strings, but to be honest nothing spectacular. I think when I'm playing with people that are better than me with their bag I don't shred as well. I did hit some cool stuff like whirl bsos, and got to clean up my osis a little. Hit a really clean paradon, and swirl a couple times. Anyway, it was just fun hangin out with those guys. Here's the bag I won from Cleaver gambling on some new card game he showed us called 'Addiction':

Image

It's a Cleaverbag stitched by the man himself. He's not big into stitching, but man this bag is SWEEET. Which brings me to todays session, the first with my new bag. I think it was partially watching this month's open sick3 comp, partially my need to play with this bag, and also my style coming together, but I had an awesome session today.

Highlights from the session were:

lots of flipside drifters and whirls
drifter bsos for the first time
ducking clipper back2back for the first time, then twice more
osis back2back which has been tough for me
ducking paradox mirage very cleanly
long tiltless strings. (but that's not too new by now)
5 contact guiltless is pretty standard now
Pixie both sides
Dimwalk very cleanly for the first time (used to hit it the)
I was hitting stuff very consistantly, and even landed a new move that I'd not planned on trying, dyno both sides!

I'm really happy about my game right now, things seem to be falling into place nicely. Beginning of June will be when I got my lavers one year ago. So, I'm aiming to become guiltless by then. I'm pretty close. So far my weakest link is infinity and osis. I'm hoping to get everything cleaned up in the next couple months. I'll definitely be ready to send in an entry for next online comps!

Wow, correction: After watching this month's comp, and looking at the move list, it was dyno I hit first time, not blender. I think I'll attempt blender though, just to see what's up.

Yay! I got a new shred partner! Another Chris lol. Chris Prosser, he used to play with Peter Irish, Tuan Vu, all those guys and he used to compete. The best part: He lives like 5 blocks from me! :D :D

Yeah so he just walked up to me mid-session at my spot and was like "I've been looking for you." Whipped out the lavers, them on and we kicked. He mentioned it had been years since he'd played, so given that, he wasn't like tiltless by any means, though he was hitting pretty sick moves, and had a couple of guiltless combos ducking butter>osis! His osis was ridiculously clean, as if his foot just traveled behind his back completely flat ankle.

My session was decent, not crazy-spectacular. It was pretty much a usual session for me. Not even any highlights lol. Just a bunch of mid-length tiltless and guiltless strings and some decent longer strings with whirl bsos, ducking clipper x2, and drifter bsos. I'm pumped to have a new shred bud though!!@@!@!!!
