Yeah, who wouldn't. Unfortunately the barley wine is gone, and the porter is only available at 'The Bend'

I like the winterhook this year, it's been the best beer this season that comes in a reusable bottle and is less than $1 a beer.

Right now I am enjoying my own version of the winter ale, which is still a little tad on the flat side, but so uniquely flavorful and giving me a very warm feeling.

I dunno what you mean by reusable bottles Cameron, but the deal of the season around here is mendocino holiday ale. Its a highly hoppy double ipa at 9% and goes for 22.00 for a case of 24 bottles 8O Its not very balanced though so Im still drinking celebration and also three floyds alpha king.

I haven't seen that one in the area. I have put a few of the celebrations away for sure.

this evening my beer thread entry is the last of my Sam Smiths Winter Welcome Ale stash with Urbock from Austria thrown in. Between beers my newest hobby single malt scotch, currently the Macallan Cask Strength. Highly recommended.

Hey I had an American beer while I was at aus nationals - Miller premium dry I think. Miller something anyway. It was very tasteless. American export beers don't have a great reputation I'm afraid but I'm committed to trynig them anyway. I don't think I could actually finish this one and I gave to Hagesy since he's from Rockhampton and it's probably a lot better than what he's used to :)

There is a huge difference between "american" piss beer like miller and budweiser and the stuff that microbreweries put out. So dont judge our beer based on miller LOL.

lol - you're lecturing me about beer? Have you read this topic?
jeremy wrote:American export beers don't have a great reputation
Do you not know what an "export" beer is?

Export beers are generally made from large multinationally owned breweries that can afford to market their product overseas. They are as a rule, never as good as local microbrewed beers. That said, many of them use high quality ingredients and are still very good.

Speaking of which I tried some Kingfisher today - Indian beer - pale lagar I guess. It had a really strong crisp aroma which I liked and was nice and crisp - strong hops flavour and a light subtle aftertaste which was sweet but hard to put my finger on - maybe caramal but I'll need to have a few more before I can be sure :P Nice beer

Mmm beer :D

I began to drink beer when I was about 13-14 but then only at parties and I didn't like it at all but now with my young 19 years :) I really like beer. I always try to get a very broad knowledge about beers from all over the world so I've drunk a lot of different beers already (Australian beers, German, American, Czech, Austrian, Russian, Chinese and of course Swiss)

In Switzerland there is a different "main" beer in every canton (or even every bigger city). But you have to keep in mind that Switzerland is very very small and so it's an admirable fact that there are so many different beers in such a small country. We also have a very ancient beer culture because of the people who brewed beer in the cloister especially at my place in St.Gallen there is an ancient beer culture. But honestly, most Swiss beers take some time to get used to and are not veeery special. I personally love German beers like wheat beer. (Erdinger is ony of my top favourites :D )
When I was in Prague I had a dark beer that tasted so damn good that I drank one litre in about a quarter of the time I normally drink it. It wasn't because I wanted to get drunk or something like that - this beer just was so good that I couldn't help drinking it like Ice Tea or water during a good shred :D

There are so many good beers all over the world that I may never get to taste all of them but nevermind as long as I have good beer at my place for a good price

Keep drinkin' and shreddin' 8)

If you want to drink Fosters you may as well piss in a cup and drink it, that way you wont have to pay.

Enjoying a Redback right now... so much flavour

yeah nice one bro!

A couple of reviews:

Moo Brew Pilsner:

Interesting aroma - honey and malty I guess. Fairly interesting beer - with typical strong hops flavour (as you expect from pilsners). Very slightly spicy aftertaste and a nice crisp dryness. Overall though - far too expensive. About $18 for a 4 pack - which compares badly to Matilda Bay Bohemian Pilsner - which is about the same for a 6 pack. Basically Bohemian is a better beer and costs less - and Moo Brew Pilsner is made in my home state while BP is made on the other side of the country. Would rate a lot better with me if it wasn't so ridiculously overpriced. Has the best packaging of any beer though.

James Squire Hops Theif
Very nice ale - obviously a strong hops flavour with nice passionate fruit aroma and fairly sweet and clean tasting. Definitely a beer I'd like to drink more of.

i was in beautiful state college PA this weekend partying with aliens and gordon bevier, jon schneider and hacky sack jack and dan greer. one of the high-lights of the trip, besides Gordons shred, was the beer. Gordon had his Pale Ale on tap and it was quite excellent. at the local brewery Ottos i got to sample the Burbon cask barleywine, excellent but devestating; and especially good was the double d IPA.

I am currently in IPA mode, my personal favorite at the moment is Great Divide Titan IPA from colorado. highly recommended.
