Flail!
I totally hit that flail in a spontaneous campus shred with Andrew and Eric. I ran into them; we started talking footbag, then playing. I was in jeans and my net shoes (old leather lavers), so I had to be precise with my tricks. I didn't bust much else too big, except for a pretty nice legbeater, again hard with the jeans and all. Larson's new abshire is sweet, as I suppose all new abshires are. Also, 4square has been brought to Baton Rouge.
Oh yea, I was the LSU footbag team for Halloween. It's hard to shred drunk.
Finally, when my new laptop comes in the mail, I shouldn't be far from assembling my own shred footage into videos for public viewing, that all may witniss my mediocrity.

gameday
Yesterday was gameday at LSU, homecoming in fact. I decided not to let the masses of fans tailgating on my footbag quad to get in my way, and I'm quite glad of it. I had a great solo session, mostly spent schooling my weakside, at least for the first two hours. Hour 3 though was all about the big tricks. I've been fearing that my atomic sets were starting to eclipse my stepping. Thankfully, not so. I'm now hitting respectable stepping sets on both sides, while my atomic, though strong and consistant, is completely strong side. So I hit my first weakside ripwalk yesterday. The weakside pixie is coming along quite nicely too. Strongsidewise, I had to try some new stuff. I'm totally not far from tapping whirl, but I'm most pleased with latest new hit, blur! Blur, I've discovered, is a very full body move, so this achievement speaks well of the work I've been doing to catch my weakside up to my right.
New idea, a wishlist: tapping whirl, ripwalk 2-3X, weakside blur.

stepping mirage(blure), stepping legover, stepping butterfly(RIPWALK), stepping ss butterfly(sidewalk). Props on the stepping sets. Once I get back at it, stepping sets is going to be my first priority. (after schooling everything else that I can already hit. Oh ya! thanks for the tutoring, I know we just watched footbag vids most of the time, but I managed to copy a good portion of the test, so I won't be dropping the class.

NYC Shred
I had the good fortune of hearing my sister among the New Orleans Children's Chorus perform at Carnegie Hall recently. So while I was there, I just had to meet up Jon Schneider and the NYFA crew. So I did. I didn't bust very much that was big for me, but it's always good to meet new people, and see older friends and catch up on each others' game. I was pleased to be able to show off my strong flying kicks.
Much thanks goes to Jon, who is thusfar the largest out of state philanthroper of New Orleans footbag. He donated 6 Mr. Sandbags that I am distributing around to cultivate interest. He also donated to me a fine little Lon Irish bag that he won at a sick 3 event. It's quite a beaut, and now it's all I play with.
Now, to go find my lost right osis.

I'm delusional.
I had another spontaneous solo session last night. I was about to do laundry, and I got to thinking, "Hey, I could play some footbag while doing laundry. Or better yet, I could just play some footbag."
So I started just trying stuff. Lots of weakside pixies, still. I think that's gonna be my project for the winter, like my strong side ones were last year. It's kind of a shame to have a year's discrepancy between my legs, but I'm working on it. I think my biggest new hit last night was delusion, but I can't be sure if the second illusion was the. I also hit flux, barely. I can't believe that my osises are so weak still. Also I got some mild work in on string length with some butterfly> ss clipper rpt. and illusion > legover rpt. drills. I'm starting to think about aiming for tiltless soon, but damn do I dwell on plain toes and insides for stability. And those drills have me breathing heavy in about 4 contacts. Maybe it is time to expand the cardio aspect of my game.
If anyone can explain to me how Moirius does not get a paradox add while whirlwind does, I'd be most appreciative. Every time I feel like I understand paradox some trick presents itself that throws my whole reasoning out of whack.
God bless us, every one.

Merry Xmas, y'all.
My brother's home from Germany! I'm home from Baton Rouge. The import and magnitude of the rebuilding process becomes more apparent as I survey my home city. We'll make it, as long as y'all keep coming by for Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest. Seriously, it's a tourism based economy, and as a valet I'm at the pulse of it.
On the footbag side of things, I played for 15 minutes today and stopped when I rolled my left foot. First time I've done that. Umm, yay bothsidedness?

Laffayette is not Hollywood
After a two week hiatus from footbag due to that ankle roll, I played again a couple of days ago. I went all the way to Lafayette to play, since I'd been asked to do some stuntwork for a low budget footbagesque film being made there. I say footbagesque because it in fact had very little to do with footbag. It was primarily about some rivalry between two people which manifested itself in the form of competitive circle kicking. The creators remained blissfully ignorant, or at least uncaring, of the fact that competitive circle kicking is something of a contradiction. They also had novice actors and a rap video scene shot at Lafayette's gokart, puttputt, videogame and indoor ball pit arena, called Kart Ranch, and it will be twenty minutes long. In short, the film is going to suck. But they used my legs as those of the alleged winner, so I'm getting some quality camera footage of my own shredding out of the deal. I impressed myself with how much longer my runs have gotten when I focus well, which is good news for me since that's something I've been working on. I also hit another Phoenix, though off camera. My atomic sets were way off, but my stepping sets are coming better and better. My best news setwise is that my weakside pixies are damn near dialed now. Woot.
I'll share those vids somehow whenever I get a copy of them for myself. Untill then, I'm going to see if I can insert a shred session edgewise into a 65 hour work week.

Valentine shred.
Thank you, Larson.
Yesterday's shred by the tree with Andrew yielded yet more stepping improving, especially weaksided, which is encouraging. Also I hit my first eggbeater, just for Andrew.
Man, I need to kick a net bag around again soon.

So I've been running again to step up the cardio aspect of my game. I'd forgotton how running works your leg muscles too. It's proving to be the best way to train both legs at the same pace. On the actual footbag side of things, umm, weak whirls are coming along. Spinning too. Oh, not spinning whirls or anything, but spinning basics. I want to hit bubba soon, if I can remember. I've developed a fondness for the illusion dex, which feels cleaner to me than the mirage.
Ok, as soon as all this Mardi Gras craziness is over, I'll announce whatever it will be I'll have planned for this year's Jazz Fest shred.

Goodness, no. Read my blog entry above from January 7. I'm no actor; I just did all the stunt work. Props to the editor if you thought my legs were actually Mageez's. I guess I'm like little add chad or somesuch. I'm just glad people are enjoying the piece for the trite little ordeal it is. And you have to admit, that was a super clean mirage.

That guy who made BAGZ the movie, posted on here about trying to get people to audition a while back. It's interesting to see what he came up with. It looks like a funny movie that's set in the 80s. I'd like to check it out.
I shredded with Dan when he did his internship here in Washington DC. Tell him Chris said what up!

lazy monday
I had a pretty chill session today with Dan again. The only big deal about it was that I hit my first pixie ducking osis, pretty easily. That's nice, since it means my strong pixies duck pretty readily now. It didn't feel too momentous, though, just an assembly of adds that I otherwise had pretty much dialed anyway. I footed phoenix, but didn't care to nail it. I was working more on atomsmasher, which I hit a couple of, and tapping whirl, which should only be a few sessions away. But back to the 5adds, pixie ducking osis is my third. I want pixie paradon. The funny part is that either side seems equally likely to happen fairly soon, as I'm training my weak pixies and my weak paradons at roughly the same pace. I nailed two gyro mirages too, a recent first for me, much to my surprise and delight.
I taught Dan illusion today, which he hit both sides, so go him.
