1:00PM Workout 1 of 2 for Sunday 3/5/06 - Stair Run
It was almost kind of warm today. I went out in shorts and a T-shirt. I was pretty cold but I was so excited to see the sun that I didn't even care. Anyway, I did the stair run but I just kind of jogged it. I wasn't going for a PR or anything after a week of rest.
Time: 21:40
Location: All over Pittsburgh
Self Status: Pretty bored by myself
Leg Status: So-so

7:00PM Workout 2 of 2 for Sunday 3/5/06 - 1.5 hour Session
Today was mostly about practicing things I'm unsure of. Lots of PS whirls and janiwalkers and things of this sort. I had some good strings too.
Highlights:
-Alpine Blurry Whirl
-PS whirl> Blurry whirl
-DOD, paradon, barfly, and DDD all BSOS
I still don't have a fine touch on some things. Spinning whirl, Vortex, and DLOs are all feeling sketchy because of my time off. But it's getting better.
And lastly, why didn't anyone call me out on forgetting tips of the day!? What did you think I was all out? Have a little faith. Unless nobody likes the tips.
I'll add it after I get some food in my stomach.

Haha. The key to that statement is AGAIN, TJ. I'd love to meet you for the first time but those guys were my boys at Worlds '04.
Tip of the Day:
Disclaimer: When it comes to diet tips know that I don't exactly act on what I preach. I do it somewhat but it's more like I eat whatever I want whenever I want. Haha. With that said....
I think it's safe to compare martial arts to footbag. In both you need speed, endurance, and fine motor skills. Well, I've spoken to a few hard training martial artists and read a few books mentioning nutrition in Martial Arts and Running. The concensus seems to be that your diet should be dominated by complex carbs. Martial artists maintain about 70% of their diet as carbs. You do need protein to build those big, impressive muscles that all of us footbaggers have
, but you don't need as much as those protein-pushers scream and yell about (most of the time they're the one's selling it anyway).
Carbs are your main source of energy, and they're are what's going to fuel you for those long sessions and weekend jams. And your body hungers for carbs the most immediately after aerobic exercise. So I usually inhale a granola bar after a session, take a shower, and then get a real meal. This maintains some energy for you to get through the rest of the day.

Self Status: Wish I played better the past few days. I'm all alone in Pittsburgh and with no footbag skills. lol.
Leg Status: A tinge of soreness in the legs and knees.

Well I didn't play footbag today. I didn't do much of anything today besides eat ice cream. I miss my friends and roommate that are all gone, on spring break while I stay here to work. And I'm going nuts in this apartment by myself. I'm halfway there, until Slap Hackers and spring break is over. Saturday can't come soon enough.
What good is the President of Pittsbugh when all his loyal subjects are gone? Hmm Jake and Hood? Haha.
Jake- We're going to need to kick together again soon.

So last night, (when I was not playing footbag and eating ice cream) I managed to have a nervous breakdown.
It's pretty weird. Like a week or two ago, the city of Pittsburgh was bustling, there was traffic, my apartment building was loud and one big party, I had 10,000 friends all within like 10 blocks or so, I had a girlfriend of 3 years, and I had a hometown. Then the next week, everyone left for spring break, the city is evacuated, everything is silent, my girlfriend and I broke up, my mom sold my old house and moved to northern Pa, and my dad is going to Florida tomorrow.
So I don't know if this warrents as much a reaction as I gave it but when I thought about all this I ended up puking and shaking uncontrollably. Then, I couldn't breathe. I drove to my dad's house just so I could see a familiar face (until he heads to the airport) and then had to leave 3 hours later to go to work.
So, I dunno. I made some promises about going to Slap Hackers this weekend so I'll still be going there. I just thought I'd keep everyone in the loop.

Sorry to hear about all your changes in life, but change is good, it'll make you stronger for the better. You've prolly got a lot in your mind going on, everything you're used to has somewhat changed or moved on..., but when one door closes, another one opens. Ya know, like the very fun rotating doors at hotels, until you're wearing a heavy backpack that gets you caught momentarily.
I figured out that I only have $20 in the bank, and my tank is empty. So for people with common sense , I shouldn't go to the event. BUT ! I'd much wrather find someone to borrow some money, and visit some good friends, such as you. No worries Caleb, we'll kick some stress off and figure some things out. Take care Caleb, Brad and I will see you in Warren, PA - SlapHack. Peace

Slaphack was a pretty freaking fun time. I played with Bevier for most of the day. He's pretty OK at this footbag thing. Anyway, I got to see my other boys too, Paul Agostonelli (totally butchered that spelling), Matt Cross, Josh Benham, Wong, Gayhart, etc. That's always a great time. We all had impromptu routines and Matt Cross strummed his 6 string for my routine music. That was really fun. I dropped a lot though, half the time it was footbag related ad the other half was because I was amazingly entertained by Matt's guitar playing.
Competition was interesting to say the least, but Sick 1 turned into a pretty solid competition. Josh Gayhart hit his usual tricks of blurring speed that I can't recognize, Scott also hit some sick stuff that I can't remember, and as for my 5 tries it went like this.
Attempt 1- Blurry symp whirl (hit)
Attempt 2- Triple ATW (hit)
Attempt 3- "What the hell do I do now???" And I dropped the rest of the way because I was trying ridiculous tricks to one-up my Triple ATW. Haha.
As for my shred highlights:
- Flurry>Pixie DOD>Flurry> (Dropped on Pixie DOD)
- Montage (Hit with a Sandmaster on my first try)
- **Your mom** New Trick
I shredded pretty strong once I got out of the ice rink.....I mean gym. Also, I kicked for most of the day and after my 2 minute routine I wasn't terribly winded. Maybe this workout schedule is actually taking me somewhere.
After all he shred was done most of the players went to a bar down the street for some sandwiches. Hood and Brad showed up after a 6 hour drive and then I dragged them down to Pitsburgh (3 more hours of driving) to have some fun in my hometown. All in all, an unorthodox and eventful evening. Good times.

6:00AM Workout 1 of 2 for Wednesday 3/15/06 - Stair Run
Three days ago, it was 60 degrees (F) outside and I was playing footbag under the sun. Today, IT'S FREAKING SNOWING again. I slipped on ice and almost fell down the infamous steps that have been giving me my footbag power, haha. But all ended well, I got through it. And I'm back in the game after killing myself at Slaphack and the next day with the WV crew.
Time: 20:16
Location: All over Pittsburgh
Self Status: Rested and ready to go
Leg Status: Strong like bull

Uh-oh, I haven't posted in a while. I didn't quit footbag or anything. I know I've run and lifted at least once since I last posted. And I've been playing footbag too. Mostly I've been working on string length so I don't have terribly interesting highlights. But I have just been keeping busy and not been at my computer much.
Last night, this one girl asked me if she could photograph me playing footbag for an art project she had to do. I'm not quite sure what she'll be doing with the pictures but there were a lot of cool shots of PS whirls, superflies, and mobius. There was one SWEET shot of a voodoo that looks like i'm 5 feet in the air and my legs completely blurred. Haha. It was a fun time. I hope we hang out again soon.
