DAMMMMMITTTTTT! My break ends the 20th, and I won't have a chance to play this game till like May 13th. :( This is the only game I've been looking forward to for the last year or so.

Sounds like you're all set, Erik! You guys should get pizza and drink highly-caffeinated beverages to complete the experience, too. Enjoy Oblivion. :o

:D
If it comes out on the 21st I'm going to skip school the next day, because my Wednesday classes aren't too important! Yaaay. Everyone should watch the first of the countdown videos. I uploaded it to my site to be more accessible to people I show it to. It's craziness!

http://www.hackrifice.com/marita/Countdown-1week.wmv
It's only 30 seconds, so it should be an easy download!

Wal-mart claims March 20th on the website. I'm gonna go see tonight at midnight whether they're lying or not. Unlucky for me, I have a Psychology test tomorrow (Monday) and a Calc test Wednesday.. Guess I'll have to do all my studying today

Aw man...
I'm going to call some places today!!
I have a $25 gift certificate from my Christmas bonus for the mall, though, and the only place I could think to spend it at was EB for buying Oblivion... I also want the Special Edition, with the map and Making Of DVD... I hope my specifications aren't too limiting in getting the game as soon as possible...
I'm definately going to look into that Wal Mart claim...
You have no idea. I was one of those people waiting at 2 o'clock every day for the new countdown videos to become downloadable!! (6 more hours until the next one...)

I wonder what time stores will have it if they do today... They said they were shipping today...

EDIT: Only USA Wal-Mart says 20th; Canada says 22nd :(

the EB i have it reserved at said they will be getting it in at 5PM EST. When I reserved my copy, they said it's too late to reserve the collectors edition.

Erik, you might want to consider buying online for the collectors edition.

Well, they didn't have it at midnight, but I needed shampoo so it wasn't a completely wasted trip. I gotta go to the chiropractor this afternoon so I'll check again then.

I'm going to go with a thief-type guy with stealth, light armor, speechcraft, short blade (I heard short and long blades were combined though), etc. Judging by past RO experiences, I bet you're going with the heavy armor warrior type?

RO "Ripped Warriors" was sooo fun :D
I dunno, Crusader was fun, but then my primary character was a monk and that was SWEEEET! RO monks were BADASS -- like the screen is covered in my fists!

Naw, I'm totally going to stealth and marksman too!! The archery in Oblivion is just going to be amazing. There were discussions on the official forums about retreiving arrows and carrying arrows (popular speculation is that you will only be able to carry about 20 arrows in the quiver and have to reload the quiver when they are used up; they also think that a neat way to collect arrows is to block with your shield and pull them out to use for yourself...I wonder how easily they break though... I know they will break against metal or glass surfaces...or at least bounce off; another question that was raised was if arrows can be caught in mid-air, like in Thief...)
I'm going to archery, because most of my later Morrowind characters started out mages, ended up having to develop some other skill, because magicka potions are too hard to come by; ended up training marksman, but being very frustrated because 60% of the time the arrows go right through the enemy; and finally had to resort back to long sword anyway...pretty frustrating...Oblivion will be better.

I'm so hyped!! I already have the TES Construction Set! (Though it's not running...)

I called EB, and they will have it tomorrow (some people are under the impression that it will be released on the 22nd in all of Canada, but no. Lots of people in Ontario got it today already!!!) I have an early class tomorrow morning, but then I am going to skip my second class, which starts right about when the mall opens and bus down to get a copy, before they are sold out. I totally should have pre-ordered. Rahr! (My brother convinced me not to...) Now I will probably not get the Collector's Edition because if EB doesn't have it I will be too needy to wait or even check another store... 15 hours and counting!!!!!

lucky! post a screenshot of your character when you can. Wal-mart told me Wednesday :( .. the Gamestop in my hometown (an hour and 20 minutes away) got it at like 6, but I just can't justify the drive down there and back when I have class most of the day tomorrow (8-9, 10-12, 1:30-3, calc mid-term review 4-7). Oh well, two days is nothing compared to the few times that it's been pushed back a month.

I found this screenshot on a forum with the caption "Proof that the AI is advanced - the enemy even checks his watch to see when it's time to kick your ass!", but the arrows.. ouch

Image

edit: oh wow, it's my mom's birthday tomorrow.. how convenient.. I'll just drive down there to "wish her happy birthday" and haphazardly pop into gamestop and pick up the game. 8)

Check out this funny gameplay video!
http://www.iparadigm.org/planetary/PICT4629.AVI

It's small. A wolf is knocked off a hill head over heels over head over heels over head over heels into the river :)
Here's a summary:

6 hours!!!
Post your screenshots!
There is a character generator on some site...I already made mine up. I'm not sure if I want to make a character that looks like me (because you can totally form your own face like in Tony Hawk Underground(?) + The Movies, etc) or my wood elf...
Maybe I will do both. Oblivioooooon!

i've done something similar to a wolf except it just slid down instead of rolling.

Pressing print screen and pasting it into paint doesn't work and i don't know the key to take a screenshot.

In Morrowind you had to go into the Morrowind.ini file and change enable screenshot=0 to enable screenshot=1...
I'm waiting to call EB again before I go and get it so I know they have it before I walk all the way to the mall. So excited!

EDIT: I'm playing right now!!! I can't figure out how to screenshot either though (let me know if anyone finds out how!) :( It's not working the same as Morrowind... It's soooooo beyond good! It looks AMAZING, and my computer is so bad that I have to run on the worst settings possible!!

I looked forever to try to figure out how to take screenshots, and it looks like nobody knows how to change the .ini file like in Morrowind, and that everyone suggested to download Fraps, from fraps.com. It's a fast download and works really well! Here are two screenshots. I will post more later :)

It's really console-oriented, and very different from Morrowind for PC...it's kind of dumbed-down, I feel...like the menus and commands and stuff. To drop items, hold left shift and select the item...this was annoying for me and lots of other people who had no idea how to drop items when you become overencumbered!

Remember that this is probably the worst that the game can look and it's a really crappy resolution :( The game runs perfectly smoothly though!

EDIT: Here's a folder of some screenshots so far: http://www.hackrifice.com/marita/oblivion/ . It may contain spoilers, so watch out. Here is a neat shot of what I would look like if I were 80: http://www.hackrifice.com/marita/oblivi ... -25-62.bmp

Reh, it won't let me capture as JPG, and I don't really want to change them all. What do you want to see? -- I can make some JPGs of specific things for you.

i'll take some ss's when i get off work at 10. I'm a Breton and made a custom class that's very close to a spellsword but with a few changes.

I'm only about two hours in (so much class today, ugh, and a test tomorrow morning so I have to go to sleep now and sit through four classes tomorrow before I can play again :( ) so I haven't looked at your screenshots that may or may not contain spoilers yet, I'll check them out soon. What class did you choose, Erik? I did what Iain did and made a custom class, but I called it assassin and pretended there wasn't already a class with that name.. I took a screenshot of my major skills (not really developed yet at level 1, waiting to get +5 attributes to roll over to level 2), and my main attributes are speed and agility.

edit: I like this shot: http://server3.uploadit.org/files/Slippur-Sneaky.jpg

edit2: I fell in love with this game when I spotted a tripwire, shot it with an arrow, and two spiked balls on a chain fell

Wow! What a colourful Khajiit!
Umm, I chose the Assassin pre-made class. I got really sick of doing all the face crap and just wanted to get on with the game, figuring that everything will just move the way I act anyway. I'm so used to just using a long sword for everything over time, because Morrowind was so bad at everything but Warrior... It's weird to have such amazing marksman and MAGICKA THAT REPLENISHES!!!!! I love the magicka and fatigue!!! I totally can't get into it yet, though...I'm too used to having to rely on a sword (blocking is neat too, but I'm not used to it yet...)
I'm skipping school tomorrow to play
I've waited way too long for this.
I'm actually a little bored, though...I'm sick of Oblivion and I want to go back to the pretty forests and towns. I want join more guilds (joined Fighters in, but no missions in that city yet...really want to find the Thieves' guild...) I'm also against the fast travel. They should have had an equivelant of the Silt Strider. I won't use it unless I mess up without saving and lose a lot of ground. I walked from Chorrol to Kvatch, because magical-map-teleporting is boring :/

Did anyone get the Collector's Edition? It's pretty lame. I'm a huge fan, though, so the extra $10-some was worth it, even if I will never touch the extra things (or for a long time anyway...) Though I watched part of the making-of DVD while installing this morning.
