In Ohio, a super republican state legislator recently proposed a bill that would stop gay people from adopting kids once and for all stating that kids would be more at risk for developing attraction to the same gender, and such. Another legislator, at the same time, proposed a law to make it illegal for republicans to adopt kids stating that the kids of republicans are at risk for developing "emotional problems, social stigmas, inflated egos, and alarming lack of tolerance for others they deem different than themselves and an air of overconfidence to mask their insecurities."

Kids shouldn"t be adopted to gay parents.

Children should not be the tools of this social experiment.

Western societies' reproductive rates are in a death-spiral already.

Teaching the next generation a "dead-end" lifestyle, so to speak, only hastens this demise.

I totally agree. I don't have a problem with gay people. I do, however, have a problem with homosexuality. In my opinion, it's digusting. In fact, it is truly a "dead-end," and if spread, will smother our population.

If gay people want to have kids, they should make them by theirselves. Everyone is born with the tools to do so, and there is no excuse (unless you are have a physical condition which prohibits it) not to.

All the studies into children being brought up by homosexual children show that on average they performer higher in school and are better adjusted to society - have lower rates of commiting crimes, unemployment etc.

The theory on why that is is that homosexual parents who bring up children have to make a serious effort to get the children and growing up with caring loving parents (or parent) is the most important thing in a childs life - not the parents gender or sexuality.

I know a number of children who grew up with homosexual parents and there is nothing "wrong" or unusual with them. None of those children are homosexual - there is no evidence to suggest that being brought up by homosexuals makes you more or less likely ot be homosexual.

You may have unfounded and uninformed views about homosexuality but I would much prefer laws to based around facts.

When Hen G. says theres 6 or 7 kids in his school that sounds so weird. If there was 6 or 7 gay kids at my school when I was 15 they sure didnt flaunt it. I dont agree with homosexuality but I can deal with it much better if it isnt the exaggerated type of homosexual that flaunts it to the extreme.

I think you're misunderstanding me. I'm not saying that gay parents cannot raise children as well. What I am saying is that their children will become much more comfortable and aquainted with homosexuality. Not that they will be homosexual themselves, but simply that it will become more comfortable and acceptable to them (I'm still talking about the concept, not the people).

Eventually it will become more and more widespread, and guess what? The fertility rate will plummet even lower. When I say smother, I really do mean that homosexuality could kill society.

Of course this is a very long-term effect, and obviously won't happen any time soon. But over several generations, this could easily become the case. Please read my posts more carefully, because if I were hypersensitive (like far too many people I know) I would easily be offended.

I'm not though.
I always enjoy a nice discussion about controversial matters. :)

You are wrong because you think that the mere acceptance of the idea of homosexuality would smother society. In essence what you are saying is that because it is becoming more accepted in our society, and not shunned as you obviously would prefer, that more gay people will be out, and this will change the entire straight population gay, and no one would reproduce.

That is the only way it could end our society, if everyone turned gay and stopped having children. Tell me, if everyone around you was gay, would you turn gay too, or would you be a closet heterosexual, or an open one? Now, tell me, if there were twice as many open gay people in this world, would it make you change and be gay any more than the homosexuals around you do now?

That being said, because i know you wouldn't turn into a homosexual, what makes you think any one else in the straight population would?

You have a serious misconception of what could happen in the future if something is more accepted. if everyone started turning homosexual all of a sudden, that would be a different story, but since people don't control their sexuality, this isnt going to happen.

So, to recapitulate, a wide spread acceptance of the concept of homosexuality will not turn everyone homosexual, it will only help people to accept homosexuALS, something which our society is seriously lacking.

You (and i mean everyone who has a problem with homosexuality) may say you have no problem with homosexuals, and you too ben who claims you can seperate someones transgressions from themselves, still fail to realize that there is nothing wrong with homosexualITY in general.

the gay community doesnt have some secret plot to turn the whole world gay, and the straight population isnt turning gay any time soon, so get a clue.

Nicely said.

The only aspect of homosexuality, that I find myselfy bein conservative with, is adopting children. I really don't think that a child who is raised by two men (or two women) will develop normaly (or even more).

Made me think of that... In all seriousness folks yes a lot of people are concerned about same sex couple raising kids. Ask yourself these two questions:

1) Do you know anyone who was raised by a single parent?
2) Do you know anyone who was raised by a same sex couple?

While the answer for most folks for #1 is yes, I'd be suprised to see how many people answer yes to #2. My girlfriend used to date a guy who had two moms. By all accounts he was a perfectly normal dude. I think people who say that having gay parents would screw someone up need to take a step back, do you know anyone personally with gay parents? This is definitely second hand knowledge but I did see MTV's True Life "I have gay parents". They were pretty normal kids, some of whom had a tough time because a lot of people gave the s&*% about their parents.

So by some people's logic #1 is a better scenario than #2 for a child? I can't say since I'm not either one, but I would think that two parents would be better than one in any case.

My bottom line point is, meet somebody with gay parents and see what they're like before you speculate.

Here's something that appears objective and balanced?:

http://www.narth.com/docs/does.html

----------------------------(...)

The new study by two University of Southern California sociologists says children with lesbian or gay parents show more empathy for social diversity, are less confined by gender stereotypes, and are probably more likely to explore homosexual activity themselves.

Writing in recent issue of the American Sociological Review, the authors say that the emotional health of the two sets of children is essentially the same.
(....)
--------------------

(....)
There's only one response to a study that children raised by lesbian and gay parents may be somewhat more likely to reject notions of rigid sexual orientation -- that response has to be elation," Kendall said.
(.....)
---------------

" more likely to reject notions of rigid sexual orientation"

Translation: "be gay"

This study summary apparently confirms that the children are more likely to experiment, or be gay themselves.

The other findings, at the bottom of summary, do seem to support a little bit of BOTH sides, oh what we are arguing here.

Now this is just one study, but we should be able to glean from it, this:

1. ALL studies do not say that gay is good for children. Saying that every study says "Good", is dishonest, and just serves to close down unwanted debate. If gay behavior, or conversion is more likely to occur, with gay parents, then the death spiral I talked about earlier will occur.

2. quote:
-----------------------------
(...)but I would much prefer laws to based around facts.

---------------------------
HA Wouldn't the world be great if this was true.? laws, and especially gay research projects, are fueled by politics and money.

All of us are partly right on this specific topic, maybe.

We seems to be caught up in details, so I'll posit a different outcome in my next post.

It's more of a question, than a statement.

As Western societies birthrates' decline, which of the following cultures' birthrates will/are replacing those Western populations ?:

A. Cultures that hate gays, who beat open homosexuals in the street, and have institutionalized murder of gays.

B. Cultures who embrace tolerance , acceptance, and celebrate the gay lifestyle.

Let's talk end-game, it's more interesting than arguing over who's politically biased study is best.

Agreed. Acceptance and celebration of their culture won't change anything other than to make their lives easier and more fufilling.

If you are against that, thats called discrimination.

My girlfriend used to date a guy who had two moms.
That's nothing! A friend of mine in highschool had FOUR moms. Her gay parents adopted her, and when she was ten or so, they split up and married other people - so then they had joint custody of her and she had two all female households. It didn't screw her up, but it did make for a good story.

Anyway, I'm not going to get into this argument, mainly because I think that people who don't like gay people (or don't want them to marry, or don't think they should adopt kids) are either ignorant, stupid or both, and I don't much feel like carrying on a discussion with them. Just wanted to share that little story.

Enjoy your endless bickering, losers.

Everyone who says that kids shouldn't be adopted by gays are saying their reason for that is that the kids will turn gay. You're saying this as if it's the worst thing that could ever happen to someone. I don't understand.

wrong.

that means that they are more open to the idea of homosexuality, not that they more likely to be gay. how can you translate that as such? no where does it say that they are more likely to be gay, only more accepting of homosexuality.

i was going to leave this out because it is a bias but since there isnt any other way to emphasize this ill just say it.

im an open bi-sexual, and have been since my junior year in high-school. now ive always been bi-sexual, i just came out in 11th grade.

I KNOW THAT I DIDNT CHOOSE THIS, and i was raised in a perfectly "normal, functional" family, father, mother, brother, sister.

i also didnt realize that i knew any gay people until i was in middle school, so i wasnt raised around homosexuality, but i have been raised to accept ALL people since i was born and as such had no misgivings about my sexuality, religion, race or otherwise. i am no less likely to produce children, and if i marry a man, i will adopt or have sperm implanted. i will have children, whomever i marry.
