What are some things you wish you had known when first starting out? Are there certain things experienced players take for granted because they/you have become so accustomed to doing things certain ways? Are there things that you were doing the wrong way over and over and once you figured if out you thought "if only I had known this....."

(This can be footbag general or move specific)

How important downtime stuff is, then again, maybe not if it helped me with atomics... when arn't you "just starting out" anymore?

When i started i used to think that butterflies were a waste of time and that you could play well without osis

Paid for that one in a big way, didnt I? hahah
also just knowing to practice everything both sides would have helped. Its pretty obvious but i had the n00b syndrome of just wanting to hit big tricks.

If only I had know... freestyle existed.

I actually started when I was 13, but 4 years of kicking and then starting freestyle with nobody to teach you wasn't the best way to get into the sport. But actually I don't really care, I've had fun since the first kick I did.

That big tricks don't neccesarily equal good shred. I could do dimwalk before I could do flip butterfly. Also had hit 5's before I could do ANY set from flip.

Work on the basics before doing advanced or "cooler" tricks. Totally killed my learning curve for a few months.

yeah, although 19 isnt the worst time to find out about freestyle, god damn if i wouldnt ROCK if i had started 6 years ago though... jeez, bein 4 mo. new sucks

im 19 playin 4 mos too... cool... but i wouldnt say it sucks. im happy i found it. best thing ever... but what if i found it 6 years ago... id be way more advanced... but im not complaining now.

Well... I had many people tell when I was starting out to work the basics. I ignored them. I wish I had listened and really owned my titless game. I wish I had know that the best thing in footbag was consistancy and long flowy strings.
