Hey, Andy -- did you hear the rumours about that house? Did you find anything inside? I wanted to check it out, but you can't pick the lock on the door :?

I was making my way north. I started by heading to Jeuffre's, then Chorrol, ran straight down to Kvatch, then up to the Blades HQ, and then back down to Anvil where I'm moving up. I'm at the imperial city. I got in the thieves' (initial quest took me soooo long!), and did a bunch of fights at the arena too (super fun! But yeah, I lost all my arrows too!). I saved just before continuing with the main quest some more.

I only have two mages guild recommmendations, and I still haven't got any fighters guild quests, I don't think. Oh yeah, I got the zoom-in too, from so many fights in the arena (great to level-up!), but I don't think I've used it yet. I must spend like half the time travelling by walking or riding everywhere.

I actually turned down the settings on mine a while back, because it wasn't running as smoothly as I first thought it was. It doesn't look as good at all. It must be so nice with really good video cards!

Here are some more screenshots:

What? Really? They look just fine to me. Do they look dark to anyone else? The game isn't dark at all, and you can adjust it if it is. Can you see Andy's and Iain's screenshots fine?

EDIT: I noticed today that the Khajiits don't have those kind of double-jointed legs like in Morrowind...it's kind of inconsistant :/

Yeah, I heard the rumors.. that's part of the reason I wanted the house. And yes, I found something ;)

I haven't joined the Mage's guild yet, but I finished the Fighters guild quests (got the highest rank other than grandmaster of the guild). I think I'm going to go for grandmaster before I join the thieves' guild. I'm so behind on the main quest, I'm level 13 and (MINOR SPOILER, but not for Erik) only a couple steps past closing the gate (/SPOILER)

I turned down my graphics too.. even though 30fps is really decent on a slow-paced game like this, I'm used to 60-70fps on faster paced games, and I'll sacrifice some of the graphics to get it that high during fights.

The screenshots look good (not dark) to me. I like the "arrowed" screenshot.. the first thing that went through my mind was "how incredibly.. necessary"

I got kind of bored and started a new character, because mine isn't really good at any one thing. I'm a Breton monk now, and I don't carry anything except my bow and arrows (only backup -- I'm all fists), and mortar + pestle. I really liked replaying the first dungeon -- I think that was one of my favourite parts so far. There is no unarmoured skill though!! I think this means that I have to wear light armour even as a monk :(

Aw, no unarmored skill :(. A monk in mithril armor doesn't make sense. If you wear enchanted gloves can you punch ghosts?

How fast is the unicorn compared to the black horse? (not that it matters, I'd still ride the unicorn if I walked faster than it ran.. I mean, it's got a freakin horn)

Oh, by the way.. the Fighter's Guild is under new management.

My brother JUST told me about the unicorn today! We spoke like it's was a myth -- he said it's protected by, like, three minotaurs?? And there's only the one in the whole game or something? Awesome screenshots! Did you reload after it died? :p

This just in: how to take screenshots without Fraps!
My brother told me today that Fraps will slowdown my framerate by a LOT! And I remember seeing somewhere on the official forums how to screenshot. Here is it:
Oblivion forums wrote:here are two places you must enable the printscreen setting. The first is in your [Oblivion install directory]\Oblivion_default.ini and the second is in your \My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini file. Once I added the

bAllowScreenShot=1

to both files I was able to take screenshots with out issue
So having closed Fraps and using this instead, I have bumped my settings back up and it's still running fine!

Another cool thing: right-ctrl + print-screen = slow motion!

I entered my first elven ruin today! My brother was making fun of me because I said that the dungeons were too hard. (I have to heal, like, after every enemy or I'm toast...no way I can fight more than one thing at once, unless it's like a wolf or rat...) Man the ruins are crazy!! Awesome traps, cool items, crazy tough bad guys (spriggans are insanely tough! I had to run away, especially when it summoned a black bear on me!) (Oh -- I should have screenshotted -- it looks sooooo cool! Anotehr favourite part of the game so far! I'll take some at the next ruined shrine)

I also enchanted frost damage (and shield) onto a 7-attack dwarven bow 8)

"Are you sure you want to be a Pokemon?" - classic.

now you need to make a khajit with the class name Meowto and name him Vasek.

Did either of you guys turn your difficulty down? I'm finding it sooo hard :( It would be neat to be able to fight more than one enemy at a time! The monsters'/thieves' skills are based on your level, so it's not like it's going to get any easier for me :( Do you guys have to run away a lot and save all the time in case you're attacked by more than one enemy at once, or in case the enemy is too tough?? (I level-up endurance and strength every single level!!)

I did my second Elven shrine last night and it took, probably 2 hours, because I was so scared (I shot a zombie from a doorway and killed it in a few shots -- another popped right in front of me while I was zoomed in and my brother screamed in my ear (because he was scared, not trying to scare me) -- I was terrified!) and I have to sneak through every dungeon... I also learned that I neeeed lockpicks for Elven ruins, and I was so happy when I figured out how to get the crystals from way up on the walls :D (My first one got lost behind the pillar + setting it was sitting on...)

The official forums are so dumb. If you post a topic it will be on the second page by the time you refresh. A post from the day before will be, like, 15 pages back...

Once you get marksman up to expert, you can knock enemies down with your bow, and shoot them a couple times before they get back up. I have to sneak through dungeons too.. If I fight more than one enemy I have to make sure I have plenty of room to run backwards (with enough speed, only a few of the thieves/monsters can chase you down and actually hit you, but when they do.. ouch) If you're far enough away when you sneak attack with a bow, the monster still won't know you're there and you can get a few more sneak attacks in (sometimes they'll run to where they got shot from and still not know where you are).

Have you done all the thieves guild quests yet? the last one is so fun/hard! (and reward so cool)

edit: I did my second gate at level 15.. and all I have to say is "Holy crap."

with my breton, i found going through the game was a bit easy. Every level i did willpower and inteligence and alternated between agility and strength. I could take like 3-4 enemies no prob. I just casted a zombie, they would attack it and i would come from behind using flame touch. Thats partly the reason why i made a new character.

Yeah that's why I made that new character too -- I wanted to focus on, like, ONE thing, so I wouldn't be so weak. But then I realized that I would probably be even weaker since my monk can't weak armour and there is no unarmoured skill :? My marksman is probably my strongest attribute, especially since I try to start every attack with it.

Today I actually took on three marauders at once (though NPCs are waaay easier than monsters -- in the same dungeon I was sneaking by a troll and a Will-o-the-Wist (THEY ARE SO BLOODY TOUGH!!) and then some NPC from the mages guild ran up and attacked me as part of a quest...I was so screwed..) I took one out in 3 shots from across the room, then barely took out another before the two reached me, and whipped out my sword just after the third's first attack.

I don't understand how you guys are getting so much stuff done so fast!! Finished the thieves guild quests and guild master of the fighter's guild?? I haven't done a single quest for either yet! I have, like, 4 or 5 mages guild recommendations and that's all, I think.

EDIT: This is, like, the only screenshot I have of my monk, and my screenshots weren't working for some reason during my last Elven ruin, so I couldn't take any shots, but next time for sure -- they're so cool! He looked best with the baggy pants you start out with and no shirt -- I picked up a monk's robe, but it just didn't look like I wanted my monk to look -- not as cool as the drawing from the class selection screen..

This is one of my favourite screenshots:
http://www.hackrifice.com/marita/oblivi ... -25-26.bmp

Oh -- I got this 7-attack Elven dagger! It's so fast! If it was silver it would be all I need! But I have to carry a silver longsword and my Dwarven 8-attack longsword just because... It was hard to part with my enchanted claymore too, but I just had too much weight (I found a whole dungeon of Dwarven armour and weapons, but was too encumbered to carry any away, and I'm not good enough to use my feather spell yet).

I had a couple really cool screenshots, but for some reason my screenshot key isn't working and I didn't realize, so you'll just have to take my word for it. My marksman is by far my highest because I fight only with my bow (well, for zombies and wolves I switch to my blade because they're slow-attacking enough to dodge without too much risk). I've been trying to level up my armorer skill, getting stuff up to 125% would be so useful, and at master you only need one hammer (it never breaks).

I found a chestpiece that gives me permanent 20% chameleon, and got my sneak up to expert so I can run while sneaking at no detection penalty.. I can sneak past almost anything now (except those dryads, for some reason they see me almost every time). I love going through bandit caves because they're dropping a lot of enchanted equipment now.. Have you found any merchants with more than 1200 gold? (the armorer in Anvil has 1200 and a low mercantile skill, I sell at him usually)

if u become an expert or master in mercatile, shopkeepers start with 800 more. i forget which one though

EDIT: my bad, it only increases it 500 if you're a master. If you're an expert you can invest in a shop giving it 500 more gold to barter.
