Ok, so here it is:
The movie “Hearts and Minds” is about how America didn’t need to be in Vietnam. The men that were sent their, thought many different things about it. There were many different reasons why we were there. Furthermore, there were a lot of “accidents” that happened while we were there. The men that were there had many different thoughts about the war.
Many of the men that were on the movie thought that America didn’t need to be there. They thought that we were there the ones to stop communism. The men were there to protect the South from the North, many men killed because they thought of it as a job others did because they enjoyed it. The men in the conflict thought it was a “war of genocide.” Randy Floyd, a guy in the movie, flew ninety eight bombing sorties and said that it gave him a “rush” doing them. Some people thought the men in the military were “warriors” for what they were doing. Some people even went so far to say that the Vietnamese were inferior to everyone else.
Many people think we were in Vietnam to “contain” communism. That idea is probably the biggest belief that the American people have. Others think that we were there to flex are muscle and show that we can “help” any country that needs assistance. Everyone else that doesn’t believe in the previous mentioned statement, think that America didn’t need to be there and it was a fruitless gesture. We didn’t need to go and spend all of our money on the Vietnam Conflict.
During the Vietnam Conflict there were many cockamamie “accidents” that happened. Aerial bombings killed many civilians and their homes, while other bombings dropped poison on hundreds and hundreds of people killing them. We also napalmed innocents, leaving them heavily burned if they survived. We also bombed our own people. The Vietnamese people were fighting for self defense, and in doing so risked becoming political prisoners. Those that did become political prisoners were tortured by the police.
In conclusion, the men had different ways of thinking about the Vietnam Conflict. We did a lot of stupid things throughout the war, they also did. There were a couple of different reasons why we were even there. America didn’t need to go to Vietnam and get our hands bloody with the stupid mistakes that happened.
Could you guys and gals help proof read it, and give some constructive criticism???? It's due tomorrow, and I got 2 hours after my first class to do whatever I need to change/add to it.
