Elder Scrolls 4: OBLIVION
Turns out you can't take screenshots with Anti-Aliasing on. I've been trying to find some of the daedric shrines and doing their quests, the rewards are usually pretty good (and the quests fun). And now, on to the screenshots:

Please tell me you didn't do this yet! You will get ripped off by any retailer, you want to go to www.newegg.com (look under computer hardware > video cards) and order an Nvidia GeForce card that you can afford! The prices will range from about $140 (eVGA 128-A8-N350 Geforce 6600GT 128MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail) to $500 (eVGA 256-P2-N529-AX Geforce 7800GTX 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail --- I have the model down from this and it is amazing).B_Man wrote:I was just doing that, and I've come to the conclusion that I will just take my CPU back to the place where I got my ram and have them give me the best card they got.
Buying from your local retailer you could pay double those prices for the same thing!
don't tell him to go only for nvidia. while i like nvidia cards more then ati, an ati card might go better with his system depending on his motherboards chipset. But i do agree with you on going to newegg.

I finished everything I wanted to do on my stealth-type character (thieves guild, dark brotherhood, fighters guild and main quest--level 27), so now I've started a Dark Elf sword/shield fighter-mage. I took some screenshots, but upon further review, every single one of them has a major spoiler, so I'll just have to take more with my new Dark Elf (Hazerion).

i've completed theives guild, dark brotherhood, and am currently working on fighters guild. I have 2 houses, 1 in skingrad and 1 in anvil. I'm saving money to furnish my house in skingrad right now. Level 14

Hello, my name is Iain George.
Been playing it a lot since I got it on Friday. I almost have the entire area between the Imperial City, Chorrol and Skingrad explored but still need to explore a few of the caves. I already closed one gate and found a second one but the Goblins are still a bit strong (or my Blade and Block skill are just weak, not even Journeyman yet
) so I'll have to come back to it.

You make that sound so fun, Byrin!
I have mixed feelings about the close-up map. I liked the Morrowind map where the "fog of war" was black, so it was easier to tell where you haven't been. I also like how it isn't so prominant (not black) so that if you're not a crazy anal explorer it's not really ugly if you haven't been somewhere... the not-blackness makes it harder for me to just wander EVERYWHERE though... I'm also not sure if I want to install any mods (I heard about some neat map mods), because I reformat semi-frequently and my experience with Morrowind was that my saved games would get messed up if I couldn't remember all the mods I used...rah. Which sucked with Morrowind, because it was hard to play without the faces mod...
I haven't been able to play much lately because of NON-STOP schoolwork, and it makes me sad
I was waiting with baited breath for like a year for this game!
I'd made a fourth character a bit ago; I wanted to be an Altmer mage, but Altmer are weak to all forms of destruction magic, so I'm a pure magic Dunmer mage -- it's REALLY fun!! Magic is AWESOME!!! But all I did with that character was the first Ayleid ruin outside of the initial sewers.

I'm not sure if anyone here can answer this, really, but here goes:
My computer is a 2.8 GHz and I plan on upgrading to either 1 GB or 1.5 GB RAM. I have a GeForce FX 5600 128 MB graphics card. How well am I gonna be able to play this game? Obviously not top end, but is it gonna look like shit?

I've recently discovered the beauty of Daedric shrines! I got that chameleon ring that Andy mentioned, and watched my brother get the skeleton key. Crazy stuff! The quest for the chameleon ring was INSANE! I'm going to try to find more shrines -- they're my new favourite now!
The chameleon ring is kind of annoying when you're running around invisible though, 'cause you can't see yourself! (I play in third person)
Oh, I don't know enough of computers and stuff so I don't know how your computer would run the game :/ I saw some screenshots from a really bad system running it though, and it looked like...worse than those old MS DOS games like Descent -- like flat planes of a single colours running around...

Semi-spoilers...
UMBRA!
I heard rumours that the Umbra sword was in Oblivion, but I had completely forgot about that when I actually started playing. The other day my brother was telling me about this dungeon he found where there is this female warrior that is consistantly at, like, level 50 (I don't think she actually is...) and that her level doesn'y change based on your own.
Today I stumbled into that same dungeon and discovered Umbra! Umbra was the most powerful sword in Morrowind (you can get it at the top of a little path in the mountains immediately northeast of Suran). I guess the Nerevarine drops the sword at some point in history and this other woman (I didn't take off her armour, so I don't know if she was an Orc like the weilder of Umbra from Morrowind, but she didn't sound like one) picks it up and wanders into Cyrodiil.
That was so exciting.
And then immediately following I was approached by the Dark Brotherhood for the first time, because I guess that was my first cold-blooded murder (I was hoping that she would have some impressive story like the weilder in Morrowind...)

It's strange, though...in Morrowind it was a Claymore, and in Oblivion it's a Longsword. They have the same enchantment, though. Anyway, I thought I would share. I'm finally in that groove of non-stop dungeon sieging and quests and it's great. I'm still taking the main quests slow.
I had a pretty weird thing happen the other day. I was being chased by one of the West Weald Brown Bear Hunters (or whatever), and I lured it to this shrine, where I was hoping for some assistance in killing it. I ran up behind the shrine onto some boulders planning to shoot it from out of its paw range...instead of trying to find a way up to me it ran straight into the monument and got itself stuck inside of it!! It was so messed up.
Another weird thing happened just a bit ago. I was walking down the road and saw a Bay Horse. As I came close to it and was about to mount it, it disappeared, but it was still there, because it's name was highlighted, yknow? So I continue to mount it, and I was shot up into the sky and had a view as if I were sitting at the top of a really high crane or something. I couldn't get off or anything. Weird.
Also, here's a hilarious archery video: http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=oblivion+bowshot
it's hard to see, so this is what happens:
1) character, about 10 metres away from some mage, shoots arrow up into the sky
2) disarms bow and looks around
3) casts a couple spells
4) looks around some more
5) a couple guards walk through the gate and start talking with him
6) after about 3 seconds of converation (about a total of 20 seconds since the arrow was shot) the arrow comes straight down through the mage's head, and the guards and him rush the character immediately.
If you look closely you can see the arrow sticking out of his head as he heals himself...

Here's me asking more questions. So I'm looking at upgrading my video card because, though it's supported, it's total suckage, apparently. I've found some decent-looking cards, but they're PCI Express. For example, this is my prime pick: the Radeon x700 Pro. However, it says under requirements: "PCI Express compliant motherboard supporting PCI Express x16". Does this mean that it won't run on my ASUS P4P800 motherboard, which was made before PCI-Express came out?
Any help you guys have would be really appreciated.

erik, find the daedra shrine of clavicus vile. Its between the imperial city and bravil. You'll need to be level 20 though
EDIT: Zach, just get an agp gpu if you're board was made before pci express or you can just get a new board. A decent board will only cost you like $50-$70.

Hello, my name is Iain George.
Oh, that wasn't my video. Somebody posted it on the forums. But from the way it sounded I think it was planned...
I have like 70% constant Chameleon
(And probably over 100 sneaking?)
It's kind of weird how common constant spells are (like every single enchantment for armour/clothing is constant...). I had, like, 30,000 gold and I didn't know what to do with it. I didn't have a Varla stone for a while, so I decided I would use the Mages Guild to recharge all my magical items (including the ones stored in my house) and now all my money is gone
My brother was telling me about this one mod that makes the menu system more like Morrowind, where it's more PC-oriented and you can view more than, like, 5 things on the screen at once.
I pickpocketed this strange item from someone in the Mages Guild in...Bravil, I think. It's called "Missing Name". It's worth nothing, weights nothing, and it doesn't have a little icon of what it looks like. When I drop it, it's a giant glowing exclamation mark and I can't pick it back up. I thought I'd taken a screenshot, but I guess not. I will some time.
