Jeremy
So had a small kick on Saturday. Saw Cameron and Dom but neither could kick and everybody else were busy
. Just drilled some stuff but nothing amazing. Going to have a kick today maybe but again just drilling. Really really really wish there was a keen player or two in Hobart. I feel like my game is losing a lot because I have nothing to challenge me.. Sucky.
Also Saturday was our state election and the result was very dissapointing. The Greens ended up probably losing a seat while the Labor party might have gained one. It was a very frustrating election. Both the major parties almost entirely campaigned against the greens instead of each other and I hate the way it becomes so clear with elections like this, that people really are very easy to manipulate. I think dictatorship is definitely better than democracy so long as I'm the dictator
Been watching the Commonwealth games a little although it's very boring considering how much Australia dominates. I find myself going for anybody other than Australia in almost every case.
Oh I saw a very cool documentary on Friday night. The Education of Shelby Knox. It's about a conservative fundamentalist christian girl in some small town in Texas and her invovlement in local politics through a youth organisation. Whlie she didn't really change her views, by the end of it she was protesting for gay rights - which was pretty amazing considering her upbringing and religion. There were a few thinks that I found pretty incredible. First whenever anybody talked about free speach they attributed it to living in America. In fact many times rather than saying "you have a right to free speach" they would say something like "well you live in America". I'm really curious as to why Americans think that free speach is either an American invention or that America is the only country with free speech. I guess I still find it very hard to understand how nationalistic Americans are. The other really incredible thing was that the public school that Shelby attended didn't offer any kind of sex education apart from teaching kids about the benifits of abstinence - and apparantly there are lots of public schools like that - despite the fact that the area had a very high rate of teenage pregnancies and stds. It's completely different to Australia where all public schools are required to give students sex education and it's amazing to see how strong a Christian presence there is in public schools. Anyway it was definitely an interesting perspective.
Oh yeah and I beat by brother 2-1 in chess
. He played really badly though. I hate games where you win or lose because of genuine mistakes rather than good moves.

Had a kick today with James today
. Went ok - I had long annoying board shorts on so it was hard to hit stuff but I hit one new move anyway - although i'm a little skeptical as to the last dex. - the first was lower calf and the second felt ok but considering what i was wearing it wouldn't surprise me if it was "the". Still I bet I can hit it much better in proper shorts. Gyro barroque

Unfortuantly it seems like that view is actually promoted by public school boards in some parts of America.
Anyway I had a kick today which was good and I'm about to have another in a few minutes
. I was playing pretty well, trying to challenge myself with moves that I don't hit very often. Nothing particularly hard - just working on variety I guess. Played with Ivan who has a very solid looking game, which is good. He hit some nice stuff like a run with 6 diving osis in it I think. My brother played a little too. I owe him lots of money so I've taken to black mailing him - only paying him back when he plays footbag
.
We're going to have regular kicks every wednesday hopefully which is good as now we're going to have 2 regular kick days. I've also been trying to convince people to play fairly often, which is good for me as it gives me motivation to play more. I've decided to try and challenge people more too - push them to hit more new moves and combos.
Anyway peace y'all.

So kicked again today with James and Jorden! James hit osis for the first time and Jorden hit ducking toe stall for the first time so props to them! I hit some nice runs - not a lot of really hard stuff but good variety and length. Have to work tomorrow but am having another kick on Friday and on Saturday.
Going to clean up my flat tonight and start stitching again. I don't have any bags left at the moment although I have three bags personally that are all in nice shape

Had training session with Glenn today. Worked on some fairly basic stuff. Also wrote out a new shred 30 which is basically the easiest way I could think of hitting 30 unique guiltless. Actually it's 31 contacts and finishes with some fearless but I figure even if I can get up to the fearless section and then drop it will score well enough. Got through it fairly well although only managed to hit it 100% with the fearless once and I missed out four moves accidentally that time so that was a little annoying. My main problem with it at the moment is just remembering each section. There were a few times where I would hit a section and then pause to remember what came next. Still it was nice to play. Also did some juggling - working on 4 balls and a few new 3 ball tricks. Glenn mainly worked on 5 ball patterns I think. He drilled a really cool combo for a while that was something like - three ball multi plex on one hand with the third ball "stalled" between his index and middle finger to normal 3 ball multplex on the other side to two ball multi plexes on bothsides with an inside kick with the third ball into a 5 ball multiplexing shower throwing 2, 2, 1 repeat. I don't know if I explained that so you can understand it but it looked cool. Also he almost broke his 5 club juggling record I think and worked on jugglnig 4 clubs, then balancing one on his nose and continueing to juggle three. He also had a little kick and is getting better - clipper is getting easier for him, and his atws are good. Worked on his mirage a little which is ok but he could get the timing better.
Should be a good kick tomorrow too.

Yeah, I doesn't feel like it's been growing much lately thought. Just the same people playing.
Had a kick today with James and Glenn. Was frustrating. Drilled my shred 30 lots but my best score was only 184. Although that said I only played until I dropped or bailed to non unique each time so even on that situation I would have had enough time to get it up over 200 I think - I bailed to a clipper and stopped but I'm pretty confident I could have hit 2 fives out of that clipper and it was only 27 contacts. There is this point in the shred 30 at move 14 that goes parkwalk>sidewalk>stepping clip>blur and for some reason I dropped the sidewalk or the stepping clipper almost every time I got to it. I have no idea why, that's a common combo for me to hit in runs. Anyway it was frustrating to say the least. When I got passed that I always made it up to the mid to late 20s. I think I had 28 contacts a few times but the time when I made 27 I actually fucked up and missed some moves and then replaced them with a couple of bigger add moves so that's why it scored a little higher than the 28 contact run.
James and Glenn were playing well. James hit osis again and Glenn really improved his clippers. I also flashed 5 balls really well and schooled that for a bit.

Hey so I had a kick today with Alex, Ivan, Cameron, Jorden and Glenn. Actually Glenn just juggled but still a circle of 5 was nice!
Alex and Cameron couldn't stay long because it is there annual physics and maths society vs chemistry society soccer game and they had to uphold the pride of physics and maths students all over the state. Ivan played well and hit dlo for the first time, and then again shortly afterwards - when he hit it it looked really nice and easy but he still has a little trouble getting into the move quick enough. I played fairly average although I hit one nice run which started with my flip matador and also had blurry whirl, blurriest, beta blur, ps whirl and pdx torque all midstring and finished with a pass - maybe 25 contacts I guess. Also there was this very cute girl who watched us play the whole time and I almost went over to her and asked her out but was too nervous. I feel silly now for not doing it but she was super hot - it was a little intimidating. Anyway I hope she enjoyed watching us play and maybe she'll join in or something
. Also juggled a lot. Flashed 5 balls again much easier. Have been working on a few different 4 ball patterns and probably the best one is a cascade with a space because it's really just the normal 5 ball cascade pattern but with one less ball. Anyway that has helped my 5 ball juggling a lot (although still needs heaps more work). Also my club juggling has improved heaps and I actually managed to pass a club and catch up a club and keep juggling with Jorden. Still need heaps more work though. Glenn and Jorden did some nice passing stuff though - the "pop corn" combo - which Glenn can also do juggling 4 clubs by him self - which involves lots of triple throws I think (triple spins on the club). It was a little dishearting when I would struggle to do these 4 ball patterns and then Glen can do them with clubs. Anyway fun was had by all. Oh my friend Sam came and learnt to juggle a little too!

A little bird whispers that I've been elected communication director for the IFPA. Props to me
Beer to celebrate I think
. Although it hasn't been confirmed yet. The vote officially finished an hour or two ago and I haven't actually been officially informed of the result yet. Still it is cool none the less.
edit: that sucks about your knee though David.

Cheers guys.
So I had a demo scheduled today but being the pro that I am I got like 5 hours sleep and have a bit hangover. Luckily it's rainy outside so the demo has been semi cancelled and instead I'm doing a very short demo at a youth centre which should go ok. I'm there at the moment checking my email so I'll give a little report as to how it goes. There was a period when I was feeling pretty pumped and keen to play but that's worn off now due to the rain and cold and tiredness. Still being paid $150 for 4 minutes "work" is always enough motivation to make me play well. Plus all the cameras and stuff around - good chance for some publicity. Although the cd player has now skipped badly twice so I'm starting to get a bit worried about that. We'll see what happens though.
