PS Whirl
Paradox Symposium Whirl (PS Whirl)
CLIP >> (NO PLANT WHILE) SAME IN [PDX][BOD][DEX] > OP CLIP [XBD][DEL]
http://www.hackrifice.com/moves/5pswhirl.wmv
I hit PS whirl for the first time the other day, and I am wondering where most people set the bag for this trick. I think i set it a little bit above my waist when I hit it, but I noticed in the flipsider media room Ellis Piltz sets the bag REALLY high.. like almost to his neck.
So, set it to ??????? height, replace support leg with dexing leg, turn away from the bag so that the whirl is at the right angle... and bust it!
anything else?

It may seem obvious, but I suggest practicing symposium whirls and paradox whirls. You need to set the bag properly for a ps whirl and pdx whirls will help you with that. You also need to learn the motion for ps whirl and symp. whirls will help with that. Learn those two elements and you'll be hitting ps whirls in no time.
Some general tips I have are keep your shin pointed to the ground when you dex the bag and try and time your jump so that you land exactly when the bag lands on your foot. This way the bag won't bounce and it will reduce bag roll.

my symp whirls are a little mistimed; i land and then the bag lands on my foot... i guess i just need more practice...tips on timing would be hard to give i imagine.try and time your jump so that you land exactly when the bag lands on your foot. This way the bag won't bounce and it will reduce bag roll.

Well, plain symp. whirls are different from ps whirls. I think it's ok to be a little "mistimed" with symp. whirls, but it's always better to have perfect timing.my symp whirls are a little mistimed; i land and then the bag lands on my foot... i guess i just need more practice

I also just learned ps whirls, unfortunately I sprained my ankle doing a toe whirl into a hole i didnt see. Whenever I hit just a ps whirl i set close to nipple high, however sometimes when i hit them in mid shred i will set it really low and it seems to work good both ways. I have heard that this trick is dangerous and i wonder how some people do so many of them and some guys cant do them at all without hurting themselves. I have only felt pain in the knee one time from them on my flipside which sometimes looks alot different than my right and sometimes is cleaner than my right. Just be careful!

I'm with Jeremy on this one. I tend to set pretty high (chest high). This is due to the fact that when I started hitting PS whirls I'd watch videos of Ryan M. do them and that's roughly where he'd set. Here is an example of one of Ryan's superflies: http://www.planetfootbag.de/tintins_pla ... perfly.mpg
I think the set height and timing for both moves is pretty close.

I think it's good to practice symp and ps whirl motions on a trampoline. You can practice doing the exact motion and there's no impact.
Sometimes I set ps whirl as high as my head. Other times I set it about knee high. I guess it depends on how you want it to look. But if you do this move right it should NOT hurt your knee.

If this trick is hard on you don't be afraid to TURN AWAY FROM THE BAG. The more you cut the dex instead of slotting the bag behind you, the worse it is on your knees. Unless, of course, you happen to be blessed with a very resilient and flexible body type. For everyone else, though, this trick is ALL about ergonomics. Landing as light as possible is also very important.
Regarding set height, I try and minimize the height as much as possible without compromising the trick's form. I'm personally of the opinion that about a nipple height set is good, but I'm no ps whirl master. Most of this is from my somewhat limited experience and what I've heard from others.
