*2006* OFFICIAL 3rd Montana Freestyle JamApril 29th &

Post by TwistedTorque »

An event to bring together alternative forms of expression which emphasize individual growth and self-improvement

Skateboarding, Breakdancing, Fire Poi, Juggling, Footbag, Slacklining, Kayaking (a kayaker's wave has just been put into the river 50 feet from the venue), Music, DJs, Martial Arts

Here's a panorama of Caras Park, our venue:

A different kind of event that fills a unique niche in the world of entertainment, the Montana Freestyle Jam takes it's eclectic array of freestyles and does something that no other footbag tournament does: pits them against one another.
Each competing member of each freestyle has 30 seconds to make the crowd scream as loud as they can. A decibel meter will be on hand and a measurement will be taken after their performance with no music playing. Highest db wins. It's a competition of perceived impression. Something that makes the hard to comprehend sport of footbag difficult to compete against other more understandable activities.

A traditional IFPA-sanctioned tournament will also be held (run by MFA members Kevin Crowley and Riley Stark) with Shred 30, Big 3, Rippin Run, Sick Trick, and Footbag Golf. Yes, you read me, Footbag Golf. :)

The first day will be at Caras Park, pictured above. It will be VERY public. There will be a ton of people there that have never seen half the things going on. 11am-10pm, this event will start off next to the Saturday Market crowd which will be family oriented. Workshops will be available. Later in the day, local Micro-Brew vendors will open their taps to the public. A full bar should be available along with a wide range of local, excellent food vendors. Live music and performances (along with a presentation of ALL freestyle to the public. Peter Irish will also be doing a presentation of the combination of freestyles) will span the entirety of the event.

A celebration will take place Saturday night at my house with a selection of dank, local micro-brews. We are walking distance from downtown, which has many awesome bars and good places to eat. Crash space will be available for everyone at my house. If we fill up (which we won't) we have extra houses available. Sunday morning a big breakfast will be made for all to enjoy.

The 2nd day will take place in a very chill relaxed, part of the woods close to Missoula which has concrete and a disc golf course.

I hope you come.

ALL ARE WELCOME.

Your next task: Go to the bathroom.
Wash your face.
Put your shoulders hunched upwards.
Look really, really slowly upwards towards the mirror like in the movies
And slap yourself in the face.
With your game face on.
And go shred with jim.
It'll work, trust me.

If Evan's house does fill up, I live three blocks from Caras Park, so it'll be pretty easy to make it there.

I'm definately not going. It's going to be so lame. I heard your having Bloughchi do a foot bag demo. And you thought you could keep chris bliss a secret? Wow, if you smart you would stay away from montana

ps

by microbrew, they actually mean hurricane ice and 40s ...

I'll believe that when I see it.
Jim sleeps more at tournaments than the 2nd and 3rd biggest sleepers combined. :D

Jim sleeps so much! I remember when Soul Purpose came over to Idaho, Jim would sleep for 14 hours and shred for 3. The rest of the time he spent making footbags, eating, or smoking... AND THAT'S WHY HE'S A BEAST!!! All the sleep is so his body can regenerate from the massive shred that he outputs every single time he gets the bag...
I'm sure if I took a page from his book, I'd be closer to number 2 in the world right now

I wonder how much Vasek sleeps?

To be more on-topic... I GOT MONDAY OFF!!! I'm buying my plane tickets Friday, and I'll be in Missoula by 11:00pm on Friday (cuz I have to work), and leaving on monday about 12:00pm, becuase i have to wake up at 4:00am the next day for work :(

Pete's flying into Spokane Thursday night @ 10:30 & renting a car and driving the 2 1/2 hours to Missoula that night. I'm pretty sure he can give you a ride to Missoula and then back Monday afternoonish.

Well I do sleep a lot. But last year I had the flu and couldn't really shred. This year will be different.
