-i dont like ska- too many bands try to incorporate ska into their bands name. its strange.

Ska is good, but only first and second wave ska. "real ska" (yeah, I'm a total music snob, it comes from working in a radio station). I was into the Skatelites, The Heptones, The Specials, shit like that. I used to play trombone, so I was big into that horn sound.

I hear you, first and second wave ska will always have a special place in my heart, but I do like a lot of the newer stuff.

reel big fish, planet smashers, my 2 fav bands ever.

also goldfinger, less than jake, mighty mighty bosstones, mustard plug, big D and the kids table, catch 22, streelight manifesto, mad caddies, suicides machines for the ska/punk.

and for new "normal" ska: aquabats, buck "o" nine, save ferris.

and for french ska: Neurones en folies, gilbert et ses problemes, marcel et son orchestre, map, skarface.

i dont more names in my mind for now, but if you dont know one of these bands, check them out

P.S., yep, ska is my fav type of music

yeah, the aquabats are pretty cool. does anybody like Operation Ivy? More of a punk ska derivative, but if you dig the sounds their big 20-something track compilation "energy" is a must have.

I agree with most of the bands you got up there, akalazou, have you seen any of them live? I saw mustard plug and big d last friday, fucking incredible show. The Flatliners, Death by Stereo and Bigwig also played.

only ska band i still listen to (rarely) is Catch 22.
ska bands i used to like (but now hate) are LTJ Ednas goldfish, Big D and Mustard Plug.
I still like a few specials songs i guess.

bandits of the acoustic revoluton, streetlight manifesto, catch 22, reel big fish, skankin pickle, skatelites, the specials, planet smashers, less than jake, big d, the toasters and a bunch of other 3rd wave ones that are probably slipping my mind. bandits, streetlight and catch 22 are three of my favorite bands, and i personally think tomas kolnacky is a fucking genius. Keasbey Nights is still my shit, and i have it on constant rotation in my car.

I was pretty big into ska (all 3 waves) a few years back. sad to see it in the state it's in today. 4th wave will probably arrive soon enough though. i wonder what form it will take.

I'm talk about Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution. The story is, Tomas Kolnacky left Catch 22 and went to art school, and later formed Streetlight Manifesto as his main project, taking 3-4 old Catch 22 members with him, and Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution as his side thing. You'll recognize track 3 as a cover of the first song off Keasbey Nights, with a slightly modified name.

Supposedly their is a lot of animosity between Tomas and Catch 22 still.
