My general footbag questions thread?

Post by Rad »

I've read a lot of this site and I haven't quite found the answers to some of my questions and since they're too numerous/stupid to make multiple threads I thought that I'd compile my questions into one big list.

What the hell does dex mean? :x

Crank is how much you bend your ankle right...If so how can you improve "crank"?

Will buying Lavers improve my game enough to justify spending 50$ dusty dollars if I'm serious about getting into freestyle? (I'm working on my first two add, ATW)

Facile Mr. Sandbags are good for freestyle right?

I basically started freestyling at the beginning of this week. How my training goes is this; I two 400 left to right kicks then I stretch, then I practice my toe stalls and ATW's and picking the bag up  . Does this sound about right for learning your first real freestyle move or is there something I could do to learn more efficiently? I'm getting better at them every day. I did 1 on monday, a few tuesday, and like 5 today and I'm going back out when I'm done with this thread.

I'll update the list later. Must kick

If you wanna get at good at freestyle buy laver's (g6's, clima's, ect)

A Mr. Sandman is a GREAT footbag to start with. (I suggest the crushed Panne version... not break in)

A dex is where your leg goes around the bag. In atw it the part between the delays... I hope that made sence. :?

Will buying Lavers improve my game enough to justify spending 50$ dusty dollars if I'm serious about getting into freestyle? (I'm working on my first two add, ATW) The around the world is easy with Lavers. I had a pair of lavers but never used them. But then I had problems with the around the world so I decided to put on my lavers. Got it down in 5 minutes

Facile Mr. Sandbags are good for freestyle right? Try to use the normal Mr. Sandbags. For school-use and with circle kicking friends, use the facile.

Well, I ended up getting a facile mr cause it's more durable I hear. But if it doesn't work out I'll order a crushed panne with my lavers. I've decided that I should be spending hours working on getting the clipper down instead of the ATW. I figured clippers are more important.

theyre equally important id say. dont let either be untrained. atw is the learning dex, and clipper is the learning set. clipper is very important.

make sure you train both!

Just got my package today!

Tricks of the trade 1 is...meh. But the facile mr. is GREAT! I don't see how footbags can get much better lolol :P . I've come to the conclusion that my ankle crank is too shitty to learn clippers yet. So I'm going to continue practicing ATW's and do a lot of ankle stretching. I might even start trying to spin :o . I'm probably going to order some lavers and a crushed panne Mr. soon.

The Facile's roll * a lot *. Atleast compared to a used regular Mr. Sandbag. It's still a great bag though.

And if anything, you're ankle crank comes from practicing the clipper more than anything. Nail the around the world. It's cake. The clipper might be something you have to sleep on. I don't think it's anything somone achieves through practicing all day.

Take it from me, your ankle crank isn't too shitty for clippers, if I can hit them you can too. The secret is to point the supporting leg inwards and bend it a lot as you come down for the stall. Strecthing and practicing ATW's is a good idea, also give inside stalls a try. Trying pincher and sole stall are fun also, and cross body heel is also worth a go.

If Ian Pritchard can hit them, ANYONE can!
Hopefully back one day.

The facile Mr. is awesome. I think it's a great bag, but I'm probably going to order a normal Mr when I order my lavers sometime soon. I'm gonna have the ATW schooled by the weekend because I started testing the timing and I found a really good way to do it. I was barefoot though so that might have somethign to do with it.

This is what I tell new-comers to practice:

1. Kicks
2. Stalls
-toe (alternating)
-inside (alternating)
3. Clipper
4. Atw
5. Other 2's

You should go to flipsider.com and read up on some of their "KNOW" section. They have a lot of helpful and great advice there.

Thanks for the flipsider hint. I checked out some of the stuff and I'm motivated to go do some more kickin. I do need to work on my left foot and my toe stalls. Toe stalls will probably get easier with mr sandbag and lavers though.
