HELP! On Computer stuff

I did system recovery on my comp, a few months back. I made a few movies before SR but now when i connect my camera to my computer, my computer(the editing program, windows movie maker) says that the cam's not connected when i try to transfer footage. HEEELLLPPPP!!!!

What are you using to connect the camer to the computer? If it's analogue/sdi/other older stuff it could be an issue related to missing drivers.

I'd seriously suggest getting some other video editing software if movie maker can't see your camera

try and uninstall the program and the camera and then reinstall. Movie maker might not uninstall easily so try the camera first. Idk if you can go to device manager and uninstall your camera, but try. The reinstall it with the cd that came with if it had one or restart and plug it in if not.

also try another program (cuz i heard that one ain't all that). Here's a list of some free ones:

the obvious problem here is that your computer is not detecting the driver software that your camera requires to run it. all you have to do is re-install the drivers onto your computer, and it should work

i uninstalled then re-installed the driver but it says this... "An error occured during the installation of the device. "

WTF does "The class installer has denied the request to install or update this device." mean?!

maybe you have some security settings on your comp that dosent allow you to install because of your prefrences? try to go to security, and change em.

alot of times i cant dl something or install cause that. i have mine on max, and it stops alot of stuff.

its not my firewall/antivirus cause i never turn them on, and its not my editing program cause i have 3, cool edit pro, WMM, and adobe premiere...

make sure to uninstall and restart then plug in camera. check for new drivers from the manufacturer's website. If there is one, make sure to cancel windows installing its own driver so you can run the setup program u dl'ed or already have for the camera.

i fixed it!
i couldnt find the cd or anything for my camera (its a few years old) and it seemed hopeless.

BUT luckily my sister hosts a server for people in the same kind of predicament if you have a sony and need a driver
