2006 March Online Competitions

Posted below are links to the video for each competition, each contains all the video entrys to that competition.

Feedback:
I encourage everybody to post in this thread with your predictions on how the ranking will go, and feedback on everybody's entrys. The players enter these competitons so they can find out what you think! Please let us know

Please also let us know what you think of the editing this month. Positive and negative critisism is good for the editors to hear so we can improve the presentation of the online competitions next time!

The official ranking will be decided by a panel of judges.

Note: My apologies for the late release this month. I contracted off the 4 competitions this month to members of the community for editing, the administration involved in that mixed with my being quite busy recently is the main cause of the lateness.

First!!!!111111one1½½½½

EDIT1: Ok I just watched novice sick1. The level was really wide. A toe stall and Smog in the same competition? I must say that the editing was hideous. I liked the first song though. Loads typos and wrong trick names. For example: if the guys hits Reverse Swirl, why does it say Swirl? Also the outro took 1½ minutes

that's almost 1/4 of the whole vid.

EDIT2: OK watched novice sick3 now. Good stuff, the level wasn't that wide here. Editing was ok, good thing that you made it to fit on one track. Although you could have showed the player names a bit longer. I'm going to judge this competition so I'll be swearing a lot now rewinding the video, lol.

EDIT3: open sick1 had some level!! Wow, awesome stuff. Great editing too, nice job.

I edited open sick3 myself so I won't say anything about that. The level and number of players was cool though. Awesome job guys, good stuff, good stuff...

Nic asked me to judge the novice comps so I will. I just can't watch that editing anymore, lol. Sorry I'm on a harsh mood today. Anyway I'll give the results in a few days max.

Ok I'll get the ball rolling. Here is my ranking for Open Sick 3:

1 Jorden Moir: frankenstein > double blender > marius. The Usual Moir insanity! Hard tricks and cool links. Too bad the marius was a bit off balance though /pulled.
2 Jason Crook: Sunilwalker > gravedigger > pdx whirling swirl. Hard tricks, great style. Very original and difficult 555 combo!
3 Jeremy O'Wheel: whirly gig > bs blur > atomic torque. Good choice of tricks, good difficulty, good links. I liked this combo!
4 Josh Gayhart: masacre > tripwalk > swivel. I really like this trick selection and nice first link.
5 Szymon Kalwak: fury > dimmiest > food. Nice combo!
6 Kamil Hukal: janiwalker > blury whirl > spinning blender. Hard combo but lacks originality imo.
7 Anssi Sundberg: dimmiest > blury whirl > food. Nice combo, it lacked in originality though.
8 Henry Griese: blur > fs legbeater > pdx torque. Nice combo. The blur hurt it a little though.
9 Nick Bathgate: Blizard > fairy ducking butterfly > pdx blender. Clean, well executed nice first link.
10 Derrick Ogden: blur > phoenix > superfly. Clean combo.
11 Fletcher Funk: tapdown > blur > bs legbeater. Good style, very clean combo. Lacks in difficulty compared to other combos
12 Toby Suggate: dimwalk > blur > pixie whirl. Lacking in difficulty / originality compared to the other combos. Nice entry none-the-less.

Props to all candidates! It's good seeing a couple of new faces in these comps!

Novice Sick1

1. Kenzuke Yabutani, Smog
Flawless execution, 3dexes. Winner.
2. Matt Coffman, Blurry Rev Whirl
Good execution, set might have been higher. Make that a Blurry Whirl next time. Silver.
3. Zeb Jackson, Weaving Butterfly
Ducking ss Refraction?? No, that's a Butterfly. Bronze.
4.Julien Romiti, Tap
A bloody good execution. Nice, high set.
5. Ben Roscoe, Ducking Osis
Nice execution. Tight Duck.
6. Jesse Lindley, Ducking Eclipse.
The set was way too high for a clean duck. Nice Eclipse though.
7. Logan Rudemiller, Magellan
Perfect timing. Nice high and deep set. Smog next time?
8. Chris Miller, Weaving Mirage
Not a very controlled toe stall in the end.
9. Bed Adler, Eggplant
You don't seem to control the set. Bad execution.
10. Benjamin Benulis, Rev Swirl
Totaly a wrong angle to film this trick. It looks all right though. Nice.
11. Zac Jackson, Far Legover
Good excecution, but not that hard trick.
12. Kyle Hewitt - Infinity
An ok execution, but not enough big trick for higher placing.
13. Russel Case - Pixie Muted Clipper
The Pixie isn't clean.
14. Matthew Hennemuth - ATW
Next time wear shoes.
15. Kyle Joseph - Toe stall
You musn't have expected a high placement =)

Novice Sick3

1. Matt Coffman, Ripwalk > Ducking Clipper > Dyno
Definetly the hardest moves. Good execution. The Stepping set could have been higher. Winner.
2. Ben Roscoe, Toe Whirl > Infinity > Ducking Clipper
Good control. The only Whirl in the whole comp. Silver.
3. Danny Petrick, Pixie Legover > Legover > Smear
Good sets. A bit one sided though. Bronze.
4. Julien Romiti, Dimwalk > Osis > Far Legover
Good control, one sided. That Pixie seems to be really thin.
5. Jesse Lidney, Butterfly > Pdx mirage > Osis
Good control. Only BOPs though.
6. Benjamin Benulis, Legover > Ducking Clipper > Pdx Mirage
Looks controlled. The Duck could be tighter.
7. Logan Rudemiller, Pdx Mirage > Pixie Clipper > Ducking Clipper
Good Pixie mid-string.
8. Zeb Jackson, Legover > ss Clipper > ss Butterfly
Good control, but onesided and that Clipper in the middle breaks the combo.
9. Zac Jackson, Mirage > Legover > Illusion
Controlled, very deep Illusion. Lacks difficulty.
10. Kyle Hewitt, Butterfly > ss Clipper > Pickup
Pickup doens't look controlled and the Clipper in the middle breaks the combo.

oh, and about the editing, I personally thought the way that Nic did the last few ones were a lot better (the ones with the grey border where the tricks were always there) but it was ok

Yeah it is a refraction (and dont say its not when Zeb is right next to me telling me it is) and my infinity was flipside ;D

That trick has never even seen a Refraction. If it would be Refraction it would have to go (in this case) under his left leg, not under his right leg. And Refraction should have even some kind of spin, so that there's nothing dex-like with right leg.

Awesome stuff all around, i liked the editing on the open sick three and im glad to hear you liked mine anssi

I think jorden should definitely should get first in both, im a big fan of double dexes, i cant wait untill we see the gyro nemesis or gyro barraging motion

besides that though i really liked both of jeremy's entries, the sailing torque looked perfect and the sick three was very controlled with great moves. Great stuff

SWEET vids, all of em, despite some of the editing (not taht it really matters). im really glad to see such a variety of tricks being pulled, although there were some common favorites

i dont want to wait another month!

on another note:
i too have been under the impression taht refraction requires a spin for quite awhile, otherwise its just a butterfly... thats what i thought when i saw the vid at least... i dont see any extra adds anywhere, and i ALSO dont see jim and daryl speaking for themselves. i hope jim and daryl know you're speaking for them so specifically... lol

Open sick 1

1. Jorden - Gyro Fury - couldn't believe you got such a high set. gyro nemesis next time!
2. Jeremy - Sailing Torque - Never seen this trick been done and good sailing set. Kinda pulled torque and a bit uncontrolled but still i really liked this trick.
3. Samu - Symp Atomic Zulu Butterfly
4. Josh G - Spin duck swivel - reminds me of green eggs and ham! Too bad the execution was not quite top notch.
5. Anssi - Ducking sperfly
6. Kamil - Alpine Fusion - Awesome trick but pretty thin
7. Derreck - Torch
8. Shota - Phasing Mirage
9. Hiroyuki - Torkscrew
10. Peter - Pogo Blender
11. Fletcher - Matador - Perfectly executed. Props!
12. Nic B - FOod Processor - Pretty lucky osis there!
13. Toby - Stepping Wirl
14. Henry - Stepping > kick > torque - To me this counts as 2 tricks. Even if it was one then i think it wouldn't have placed too high. Still, the torque was smooooooth! Nice try Hendog
