Great job to all the players and the editors this month! Everyone did a great job
Our Judges will be releasing their decisions over the next wee while and a final result will be compiled soon after that.
In responce to the refraction thing, this is the reason we have a team of judges, often different people have different opinions on things, so by having several judges we aim to have a ranking that most people agree on.

Open Sick 1
1- Jorden Moir: gyro fury.... erm...yeah ok.
2- Jeremy O'Wheel: Sailing Torque. Huge original move! Only gripe: I thought the osis was a bit pulled.
3- Anssi Sundburg: ducking superfly. NICE! Super clean super fly
4- Josh Gayhart: spinning ducking swivel. This is a huge original move. Great entry, would've scored very very high with more control and a closer duck.
5- Samu Ahola: flailing zulu butter. I really liked this move. I liked the style too.
6- Henry Griese: blurry kicking torque. i'm all for allowing pimping / gimping type moves in sick one. I'm not a huge fan of the inside kick (breaks the momentum) but this scores well on originality and the torque out is hard.
7- Hiroyuki Morita: torquescrew. Popular move, and a hard one too. Nice
8- Shota nakano: phasing mirage. Well executed, styly and original.
9- Derrick Ogden: Torch-R-Rack. I couldn't make much out in this video. But it looked clean (benefit of the doubt). Nice trick.
10- Peter Bowler: pogo pdx blender. i could barely see the bag in this video (good lighting is important).
11- Nic Bathgate: Food Processor. Big move, lacked a bit in execution.
12- Kamil Hucal: alpine fusion. duck was clean but the down double looked the to me.
13- Fletcher Funk: Matador. Well executed, good control.
14- Toby Suggate: stepping whirl. the whirl dex looked little thin to me

Ok. Anssi was probably a little harsh in his judging, he just spoke what he thought with no attempt to soften it. This is his first time judging so he isn't used to saying things in a politically correct way and avoiding pissing people off
, none the less his judging is valuable to the final decision and that's the main thing.
Weather Henry's trick was one trick or 2, I don't really care about. It was allowed in the competition so it will be judged according to how difficult it is. The trick is origional and clean, but I don't think overly difficult, it will be ranked accordingly.
Thank you everyone for your feedback, results will be up in the next few days I hope

Great level of entries
I have to say looking at peoples results that I think execution is definitely the most important thing to take into account. Anyway it's no big deal.
I definitely think that Henry's "sick 1" is 2 tricks and if I were judging I would judge his trick as stepping inside kick and put him last. - I would define a single trick as what happens between two contact (and counting the last contact). - This is also the definition (not word for word) used in IFPA competitions for shred 30 events and will very likely be what's used for sick 3 and sick 1 rules when they're written up too.
Actually if I were judging I wouldn't rate his trick as stepping inside kick - I'd disqualify him for entering a two move combo instead of a single trick. Judges shouldn't have to decide which trick they count and it's an unfair advantage to enter two tricks when everybody else only enter one.
He can stay on the forum though

I have a feeling that weather I like it or not, execution is going to become increasingly what decides these competition's outcomes.
I will always try to uphold a balance though, sometimes badly executed tricks should beat well executed tricks, simply because they are still way harder.
I pulled, badly sealed marius should always beat a mirage, no matter how well the mirage is executed.

man, now im getting discouraged to enter a comp, cause all this jazz about clarity and execution. no the's. i understand thats important, but difficulty should come first imo. i mean harder tricks are harder for a reason, but you still need to get it pretty clean.
but whatev. i just dont want super harsh comments when i dont perfectly seal my entry. i dont mind if i get low places, just dont be an ass and whatnot.

Lol I think this month Anssi has rocked the boat a little, especially with the Novices. Next month I will give the judges more specific instructions on how to judge the events so that nobody gets too offended.
At that same time though, criticism, positive or negative should be taken not as an insult but as a recomendation, don't be too offended by others comments, just discard any that insult you and listen to those that sound intellegent.
When I say execution is becoming more important, I don't mean you will get ripped on if you do any tiny thing wrong, what I mean is that it's becoming obvious that many players hold it in high importance to hit things cleanly and with good execution, and with the increased number of players, a lot of the time most of the entrys are all of the same difficulty, and the result comes down to execution, in both the novice and open competitions.
Look at open this month, 3 combos of 4>5>5, all approximately similar difficulty, execution will play a big part in deciding which is ranked higher.
In the novice sick1 last competition there were like 5 dimwalks, obviously execution is what it came down to.
The moral of the story is, when you go for your entry it is good to hit something hard, but it is better to hit something not so hard that you can hit well
, it's just about finding the right balance.
